Twigling Doll Discussion ~ Part 3

I can understand that if Twigling is busy with the design and production of her beauties, that it might be easier to maintain only one public outlet. I follow her on flickr and that can be a bit of work too, so it doesn't get updated much. I don't have a facebook account, but still take a look at her thread over there...and generally wait for news here.

 

I believe the DoA rules are strict about only selling and posting about dolls completed in resin here. Maybe it's a lot easier to do preorders from primered / initial sculpts in other places like Facebook. I was really, really glad to get in on her earlybird "Minigenue" preorder on Facebook, but I don't think it would have been allowed in the DoA News section, for example.

 

She hasent done any preorders since the one last year and to my knowledge since the minis shes doing this year are 3D printed she cant really advertise them on doa :/

 

Her site is currently undergoing a redesign so I'd imagine she'll be selling through there as well once it's finished - I think Facebook might be the only workable platform right now, especially since the only preorder that's been run since last year is the one for Minigenue who is still in the prototype phase at the moment - the final dolls will be cast in resin, but the prototype Minigenue is 3D printed because it was easier to scale the original Ingenue down that way. I know Twigling has still got to tweak the design a bit by hand before the masters are finished and ready for the casting to start. (All that didn't stop me ordering one though! )

 

Does anyone know when preorders will be for SD dolls?

 

She hasnt said yet since Miniginue is her current big project along with the site redesign. Hopefully soon I need to hop on another long preprder for a body I need for a floating head.

She returns to Spain latet this week and then shes sending my white skinned girl out cant wait to show everyone!

On another note does anyone know if the bigger Impldoll heads fit the Twigling body? Or if Grey has ever been an option through Twigling?

 

I'm glad Twigling is keeping busy, but it'd be nice if she dropped by the thread from time to time to give us an update on the crazy long preorder. Honestly, if this wasn't my 3rd doll from her, I'd be a little antsy at the lack of updates, especially since it's long after the projected delivery date(s)

 

I am the point now that I keep forgetting that I have a Twigling ordered and paid in full. Was it supposed to deliver in March or am I imagining things?

 

I know in one of the emails I got from her semi recently she said she isnt able to keep tabs on DOA as much as she used to. I cant remember her exact wording but I think things have grown beyond what she originally expected and its hard to keep up with facebook, emails, website rebuild, working with the mailing companies, customs and the factory, she had a lot on her plate right now. She said in her email she would be back home at the end of this week sometimes after the 25th.

Maybe send her an email asking? She has always been fairly fast to responding to my emails.

Im not worried one bit, the casting company is where the delay is coming from *shrug*

Has anyone recieved their white skin dolls yet? That was the batch that came in first and I dont have mine yet due to my own delay in shipping payment.

JUST checked her facebook and she is back home, ALSO on the 6th of February she stated that the pink dolls are supposed to ship from the casing company at the end of February.

 

Well, my doll is in tan so if they are sending them out in color batches it may yet be some time. That is fine. I know she will be well worth it when she finally gets here.

 

Yup it looks like they are in fact doing them in color batches.

Also just got my tracking number for Isodel, my white skin Ingenue the excitement is really starting to deive me (and my poor partner) NUTS!

 

Does anyone know if a supergem size dress will fit the body because theres this dress i want from sadol but im not going to pay that much for some thing i dont even know will fit and i tried looking through past threds but theres just so many post and they dont always state what size clothing it is ＿|￣|○

 

Hello everyone. It's been brought to my attention that people have not heard from me so I will make a moment to pop my head in and say hi. I have just been on a whirlwind 2 week trip back to Australia to organise my remaining personal belongings that were stored there and sort out where to send them and what to do with them. This trip has weighed heavily on me, and I am glad to have it out of the way, I hardly saw the sun in all the time I was there and spent the entire time sorting boxes, barely one day socialising with my friends, and even got sick from my inward flight and spent a couple of days in bed and the rest coughing and wheezing. Not looking for sympathy, just letting you know I wasn't on holidays, but this trip did eat me both before and during, and I hope that now I can keep moving forward with the most urgent of projects, primary of which is finishing the website, even if not perfect, to be a place where information can be found.

About the great long layaway preorder that ran last year, I cannot tell you how embarrassed and frustrated I am that these delays keep dragging on and I have no control over them. I have no samples to paint (except for one white Oryx), therefor no photos to use for promotion and therefor not been able to finish the website, ordering system, blog etc. In addition have not had time to organise certain information and write relevant content, plus make a whole bunch of decisions without enough information to make anything more than half-educated guesses.

The order is shipping in batches, so far the white dolls were delivered to me, and those that didn't need faceups have been shipped out, the rest are being faceupped right now. Still missing some white hands and a bunch of the white stilettoes, which I am hoping to receive when the pink lot arrives. I'd really like to get these dolls in as soon as possible so that I can ship them to the owners and feel happy about opening new orders.

I remain very weary of opening any new orders given that the factory is taking so long to fulfil previous orders. It's not that I don't want to but I don't want to become like one of those companies who keeps raking in the money and taking years to deliver the goods. In light of how it has worked, I may need to keep looking for manufacturers who can handle the load, or also take orders in much smaller batches, but this would likely affect what options will be available from one order period to the next as well.

I am currently waiting for the 75% scale Minigenue print pieces to arrive, so that I can start working on them, and get them sent to reproduction as soon as possible.

Overall, since my life-circumstances changed and I took the leap of moving to Spain (and assimilating a new culture, learning a language etc etc), I do have much less time to spend on forums. It's probably not any consolation, but I am not very good with keeping in touch with my mother either I recognise it's easy enough in theory to repost any update here that I have already posted on the Facebook page, but regardless of how much time I might be sitting on the computer all day working, coming here and posting still slips my mind.

Anyone who has written to me with a question has received an answer promptly (I do check my emails and facebook pm's *several times per day*), but I realise in many cases it would be more efficient to make a public announcement in one single place that is easy to see, find and access for everyone involved. Maybe I need to get someone who can assist me in passing the news from facebook to here, and who can also collate the questions for me so that I can answer them efficiently (when they do not pertain to specific orders and should be handled via email).....

At this point it is safe to say that twigling is starting to grow bigger than just me, but there is still just me running it all and having the means to employ someone to help out is still a bit beyond me, not to mention trusting and training someone to help me out. Thankfully I do have Solsikke and Winterdeer to do faceups now, and Skumring has been a great help during almost all the doll shows I have attended in the last 3 years as has Krowbar, but obviously I will need another pair of hands and a second brain from now on and on a more day-to-day basis!! It's really not easy wrapping my head around all this, while at the same time not being sure how to transmit the info that I carry in my head (and some serious spreadsheets) to another person, and figuring out what exactly it is I need help to do. In short, I am somewhat overwhelmed by it all, and not sure who can help me or how to ask for that help.

In conclusion I hope to have news about the pink dolls, and hopefully the vivid shortly after; as well as pics of the new slightly larger Minigenue (65% was too small for my liking, crossing fingers for 75% working out). I also hope to have some other new news soon, but I am still waiting to confirm some details before I can say anything.

Between Minigenue and assembly/shipping work on the pink dolls, producing content (even temporary) to get a website up and running that we can all use as a focal point, will be a priority.

I have uploaded some new photos of te 75% Minigenue on the FB page.

As for the ongoing long layaway (that most of you have finished paying off by now), the factory has had holidays, I guess even in Korea they celebrate something like Chinese New Year?? They are still working on the pink dolls and I hope to have some news for me next week.

Btw, the pink dolls are the largest batch (30+ units) and would take the longest, compared to white (10), vivid and tan (20+ ea) and teal (7).

Are you thinking of offering any other heads for the 75% Minigenue? Like an elfy one? She's just the right size to fit with my "little" fay dolls and I love supporting your work (I don't have FB, so can't ask there)

 

If Minigenue does well, I will start shrinking the other heads as well, or make heads uniquely for that size.
