Unidoll Real boy - Anthony

He is pretty as a fox. A bit thin for my tastes though, makes you want to start cooking a thick stew to fatten him up. Then on the other hand maybe once you go EID beefy you never go back.

 

I think that his face is really lovely - both soft and angular .

 

Yeah, very strange how Unidoll comes out with so many unique, different, and even strange molds and then comes out with this guy. Total opposite end of the spectrum. He's beautiful, though. He'll catch the eye of all those people who haven't liked their recent molds much. And I love all the pics showing off the body. I think it's a great move for Unidoll!

After getting -- and being intensely pleased with -- Ark, I've been considering a few of the Unidolls. This one definitely got added to the wish list. He doesn't have the same -kind- of character that drew me to the others I like of theirs (Jace for his wonderful nose that just -screams- bookish scholar, Akion for his wonderful weirdness, Roxy for looking like she could out-smug a cat... ) but he still has a great deal of personality in that face. I'd be highly tempted to work him up as one of the Romantic poets.

What turns me off about a lot of dolls is that the gentleness I see in their features just seems like a lack of definition, or a lack of personality. When I see that, it looks blank to me, not gentle. (I know a lot of people feel very differently about this, and this is not a criticism of that at all -- it's just a matter of how I, personally, 'see' in an artistic sense.) This guy? Looks gentle. The definition that appeals to me in their sculpts is still there for sure, it's just that the combined features create a very soft-looking and delicate male face rather than a more harsh one. I'm quite impressed, actually, since they kept the good and expanded on the range of the 'types' they offer quite well, in my view.

 

The face seems a little off to me too... hmmmm.

 

Nice doll, but I have to admit that what I liked about Kato was his masculinity. This is a bit to pretty for my taste. I tend to like Elf-doll's Mir.

 

No, no, no! They need to take him back and add an extra eye or some scars or something, he's too pretty to be a unidoll boy! XD Nah, I like him, but he is awfully pretty for a company that makes dolls like ark. He's nice, but there's only room for one big buff guy in this house, sadly. If I had room for this guy, he'd definitely be coming home with me.

 

Anthony seems to have actual bones & structure under his face, with defined eye sockets, cheekbones, and even a jaw!

I'm not entirely hooked yet, but I sure enjoy looking.

"Anthony," if I bought this BJD, I'd buy a better blonde wig, give him purple or violet glass eyes, make him a school uniform/suit, and he is ready for the Private Academy High School Host Club. Yes, I may just have our "King" for our Host Club here. But, the girls can only be served rement cakes, tarts, etc.

 

I was never a fan of Unidoll. I always felt their male dolls were the opposite of other companies in that they were actually almost like a caricature of masculinity.

Anthony on the other hand looks lovely. His face is strong enough to tell he's not a female doll but not in the extreme.

 

Yeah, I think I might actually be putting this boy on layway. I'm normally not into the pretty-ish type, but he would be good for a particular character, and I could always swap his head out for a really manly minimee head if I got bored with the look (I'm big on head swapping, so I don't mean forever.)

I'll defintely get him sans-faceup, though-- I think he would also be de-prettyboy-ified somewhat by a good neutral faceup and a better wig.

I, like a couple here, steered none too close to Unidoll, just because their dolls were really different, but now that they've produced a more gentle looking male, I can see their popularity boosting.
