1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Unique Animal BJDs

Oct 15, 2019

    1. It'd be fun to see a realistic-looking squirrel with an articulated tail!

    2. @ajmailey Ooh that's exquisite! Such a unique sculpt! It is a shame things can be so limited sometimes, that's why I lurk on second hand market facebook pages haha. You know what else I'd like? More resin colors for anthro dolls. Like a black panther, that would be awesome!

    3. I've seen a few horses around, but I'd like a goat. And a turtle big enough for a Puki Puki to ride would be cool.

    4. There's a person on etsy that makes off-topic turtle bjds. And I know I've seen a goat on etsy or instagram or somewhere...

Ah, found it! It's listed as a ram, but could be a big-horned goat as well.

    5. That's the one! Thank you!

    6. I hope there's an artist or two looking at this thread and seeing the requests for marine animals and insects! Those were my first ideas too. I would looooove a nudibranch BJD. Also an octopus, a crab and a whale (I know they were all made already, but the whale seems to be unavailable and the octopus is barely jointed).

For insects, maybe a stag beetle? Honestly, I have visited the Ré-Gliss - Le Mouton en Sucre page so many times staring at their beautiful scarab. I've held off because I'm not sure what I'd do with it - it's rather large and unwieldy for photos, and it's not like you can customise it with clothing and wigs. But ... the design! the painting! It's so amazing. I can't find many pictures online so I'm curious how many people have bought one.

Personally, although I think the designs of companies like Walloya Morring are stunning, I don't like animals that are too realistic and I just don't like the look of 3D printing. The most realistic animals I have are the hamster in my profile pic (Hamstar by Dear Mine Doll), the Tamikan Space Tardigrade (although he's painted like a galaxy ...) and my axolotl (Lupy by Dear Mine Doll). I also have Voador by Pink Vetch, a little winged pig who comes with a steampunk style mask. She has also made a cat, a bunny and a meerkat.

    8. Have you seen this Jadite by 5StarDoll? It's SOOOO cute as a little bug/human hybrid. I'm thiiiiiis close to splurging on one...

edit: just re-read and saw that you mentioned specifically non-human hybrids, oops. I'd love to see that too, I just adore bugs-- a mantis or a tarantula, maybe a scorpion... there's SOOO many great bugs out there that would make great BJDs!!!

    9. I definitely second the platypus and chicken! Those seem super interesting! I’d also love to see more fish! Luts did a Zuzu Delf once that had a fish head and I loved how weird it was! So cute! :love

    10. Jadite Is really cute! If only I had the money to get her...and most of the other dolls talked about in this thread. :...(

    11. I too would adore more bug dolls ... or fish! I've got two betta fish and they're absolutely stunning, I'd love to see what people would do with a betta fish doll!

Aside from that, I've had the longing in my heart for ages about some sort of two-faced animal BJD. Diprosopus is a really interesting phenomena and I think it would be so cool to have a two-faced goat or cat or something!

    12. Nympheas Dolls has a prototype for a giant octopus in the works! I really hope it gets funded, it looks amazing.

    13. Oh wow, how interesting, an octopus BJD!

    14. For some kind of reason, I would love to have a cow, a chicken and some baby chicks.

Birds seem hard to make in BJD form, but I don't know if anyone knows a hawk/eagle/raven BJD?

    15. I am very oriented into sculpting my own bunny, luckily there is plenty of inspiration around I absolutely love small dolls, but looks like they have very complicated inside, despite being tiny ❤️

    16. @lyaam12 - Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything that would count as a BJD, at least by DOA standards, because of the wrist joint requirement. The most bird-looking ones I've found have been unposeable props (like this) or 3d printed (like this). If you find anything, let me know!

    17. I've seen a really adorable duck sculpt before, but I forgot which company it was from.

    18. Dear Mine have a tiny owl just or about to be released.

Someone on Instagram is sculpting a duck. I’ll come back if it pops up again.
