1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Universe Doll Discussion

    1. Does anyone happen to have a Hot? I recently discovered one for sale and the company photos don't do his head justice. He has little teeth! No one seems to own him, however.

    2. So I bought the Hot I found secondhand. His face is so adorable!
I don't even have a character for him yet, I just love his teeth. xD

Sadly he arrives with 3 broken fingers from the mail. I'll probably order him some different hands. My only issue is that I'm not sure what resin color he is. The seller couldn't remember if he's White or Normal Yellow. He looks like a very pale NS, close to Luts NS but IoS NS seems like a perfect match. I know their 'white' that isn't the 'snow' is pretty off white colored. >.<

    3. So question! When I reviewed my Hot, he had the oddest chipping I have ever seen on a doll. The body is fine and so is the outside of the head. The inner "flaps" in the gead had almost entirely chipped off and in multiple pieces (we're talking 9 pieces!). It doesn't effect the headcap staying on because the magnets are strong enough to keep the cap on either way, but has anyone else had this happen? Do all Universe Doll heads have 'flaps' like these? He was packaged extremely well and it happened in shipping because the resin pieces were loose in the head wrapping.
Here's a pic of how it arrived:

And half way through gluing the pieces back on:

    4. Interesting, @Cap'n ! Though I dont have a universe doll head, I do have one with that similar shelf/sides in the head to prevent slippage, and it arrived to me in exactly the same pattern of breakage. Same thing, no damage to the head itself. I thought it was some sort of intentional mod until now. I guess that's just how that sort of breakage tends to look. Imgur

I'm interested in seeing the new body, with the longer torso joint, and a review of it. Any arrivals yet?

    5. Just spotted Shiyu on various dealer sites - realized he'll have to come live with me at some point. Watched my wallet run off in a fright. Normal state of affairs around here!

Realistically, I hope he's still available in several months, and that I can secure a ~6 month layaway for him. That would be the ideal arrangement. He looks like he'd be a perfect brother for one of my folks I'm gearing up to purchase on the 13th (and pay off in January).

    6. Oh, Shiyu is so pretty! :chocoheart
Please show him off a lot if you get him @Nissa :3nodding:

Also...I guess my notifications for this thread weren't working for a while...I seemed to have missed everything about the headcap.
Eep, that's really a crazy breakage pattern. I've been super luck to not have a headcap break, so it's super interesting to me that that is the typical pattern! I'm glad the magnets can still hold everything. Goodness.
His lips are so pretty too! Can't wait to see what you decide to do with him @Cap'n

    7. The breakage was at least easily hidden. I actually ended up selling that head because I didn't like the realistic style as much as I'd hoped. I like a good middle ground between anime and realistic. But I'm keeping the body and threw a Luts event head on it, which is a great match. I absolutely love this body!

    8. It is a great body! It's one of my favorite bodies. :chocoheart

    9. Boy! Do I have a tale for you. I apologize for the wall of text in advance.

So, you know how I mentioned back on September 2nd/3rd that my bodies had shipped, well I only received them last week. Ha..ha.haha.haaaaaa:doh

So my dealer didn't actually ship my bodies out until 9/30, the day before Chinese Golden Week was going to start, even though I got a notice on 9/2 about shipping. For those who don't know most Chinese businesses shut down during Golden week, and shipping slows. So, I wasn't surprised when I got little to no movement that week, but when it still didn't reach the warehouse some days after the holiday was over I contacted the warehouse. That's when I found out they'd been sent back to the dealer for exceeding size and weight restrictions. OK, my fault for not double checking what those were or that they even existed. But, my dealer never even notified me that they'd been sent back to them. So, I contacted the dealer, and they assured me that yes, the bodies were back in their possession.

So, I asked if they could ship the bodies to me directly, and they said they could. I gave them my address, and the first quote they gave me was about 200 for EMS. Yeoch, no way, so I asked for the cheapest option which was about 80. This back and worth took place over the course of two weeks, mostly because I kept having to pester them for updates on the shipping quotes. But, finally my bodies were shipped off to me on 10/29 a month after they'd first been shipped off. The last update I got was on 10/31 that they'd departed the airline. And, then silence. The dealer had notified me that the shipping was slow and could take 2-3 weeks. Which I was fine with. So, 2 weeks went by and then 3 with no updates. By the start of the 4th week my face started to look like this :|:sigh. So, I did some google searches to find out what the various shipping times were for the cheapest China Post shipping option was. I came across a China Post English forum, where the person answering questions let me know that the tracking number I had was for a type of hybrid air and sea shipping. If the item was below 2kg it would mostly be sent by air only, but if it was above 2kg, which my package most likely was since I'd ordered two 70cm bodies, it could likely be sent by ship, and could take upwards of six months to get to the US.:doh:barf Around this same time I contacted the dealer as well, who said they'd look into where my package was, but I never heard back from them.

Anyway, while the prospect of waiting 6 months made me want to bang my head on a desk, it at least gave me some hope that the bodies weren't just lost in space.

Then finally on 11/29 I got notice that the bodies had arrived in New York. It took another 11 days for them to get to me on the west coast of the US on 12/10. 3 months of waiting now completed.

      tldr: What an ordeal! lol

On to some good stuff! I ordered two of the 70cm SW3 body in normal yellow, and I love them. It's a good resin match for Dollshe Oriental, and other resins that are a close match to Dollshe Oriental. I would say UD is within a 90-95% match to Dollshe Oriental. Another Secret normal is almost dead on to UD normal yellow. I hadn't been that interested in UD prior, and only bought the bodies because of the sale, as one of my goals for this year was to buy more bodies for my floating heads. I was originally going to give the bodies to my Dollshe heads. But as so many of my heads fit, and look good on them I'm having a hard time deciding who should get them Now, I wish I'd bought four instead of just two. lol

    10. Oh goodness. I'm glad your bodies finally got to you! Eek. *_*

    11. Well, I've decided to take the plunge and begin an order for Shiyu on the 24th. I hope to have him paid in full with 3 installments. Christina (Jeeryama?) at Clover Singing mentioned that Universe Doll has about a 5 month waiting period, but that's no issue for me (having worked out layaways for Dollshe, etc).

Very excited to meet the pretty boy! I've paid off his brother (Chengxun by Dika Doll) so likely, he'll have family here waiting for him when he arrives. I also plan to order eyes in advance - hopefully they'll be a good fit!

    12. Congrats on your new doll! Do you know if they meant it’s a five month wait for all orders? I need to order a body soon for my floating head.

    13. @poisonapple88 Oh that's a good question - I'm not sure, though it's possible they're a little backed up on orders. I'm ordering Shiyu completely blank which Christina's aware of, so perhaps it's a rough estimate for most current orders.

Though come to think of it, I'd also like to add additional hands, but I might have to ask if those can be added to the CS site because I can only find the jointed variety currently.

    14. Yeah, that’s definitely possible with the Lunar New Year coming up. I was going to wait until mid-February and go through a Taobao agent. There is one for sale on EBay I’m eying though and it’s roughly the same price after shipping.

you could also check there for the regular hands!

    15. @poisonapple88 That sounds like a good idea and I think I'll do the same (for the hands, that is). I got a reply from Christina, giving the suggestion that I order from TaoBao (which I've never done directly before, but I've used SpreeNow's agent service with success).

Question for those of you who've ordered the additional non-jointed hands for 70cm UD dolls - how did you go about doing so, and would you recommend? (I'm not in a rush and may put them off until April, as I have some rough plans for March already.)

    16. @Nissa

I’ve ordered the non-jointed hands through Taobao, and I think they’re gorgeous! I ordered in 2018, and I think their wait times changed considerably, but it only took 2 weeks after I ordered for them to ship

    17. @Nissa I ordered mine from Legenddoll; I just looked up the names of the hand parts I wanted on Stacy's Pink Ocean and then emailed Legenddoll asking if I could order them (dunno the etiquette about showing a dealer something on another dealer's site and then going "I want that!" so I didn't share the direct link from SPO). I ordered them with a body, but Universe Doll originally sent the wrong set of extra hands so I had to wait about three more months for them to make and send the correct ones.

    18. How many extra hands are there now?
I ordered a lot of them when they first came out, and then I know some came out after that that I don't have...but I'm absolutely terrible at navigating Taobao...so I can't figure it out. :sweat
I love those hands so much though. :chocoheart

    19. Yeah, they've got a couple of different hands that I'm interested in getting off of Taobao.

    20. Received a reply from Clover Singing - eight pairs of hands, and heel feet for 70cm boys!

I'm a complete sucker for that, so I'm adding all of them and extending the layaway by a payment.
