I snagged a unoa azurite (?) boy at a good price on Japan's mercari. Although I would really prefer the girl instead of the boy.... Definitely need some help with restringing it
Congratulations on your new boy!! This post https://denofangels.com/posts/1710071/ has an English translation of the assembly instructions. They are definitely put together strangely compared to most BJD, so good luck!!
And their weird two-part thighs will burst apart at the slightest provocation, I swear. The force of the elastic is almost more than they can stand. It might be worth gluing the thigh pieces together. That being said, despite the weirdness I have more Unoa Lights than anyone should. Congratulations on your new boy!
I have been debating gluing my Azurite's together the entire time I've had him, but it would make restringing such a chore I keep hesitating... He needs a spa day real bad so maybe one day I will make the choice.
I'm kinda feeling the regret from the impulse buy just cause it's a rare doll Since finding a faceup artist and wigs etc for it seems really tough... There's also some smoker smell according to the seller
Put that baby in a box of Gonzo rocks! I know someone who is a librarian who swears by them for all kinds of weird stink. That's a brand of zeolite rocks, so if you can't get those, you may be able to find alternatives--I just know this one brand off-hand. They might be a little tough to find wigs for (although probably not a faceup artist?), but worth it, I think! I did end up making a wig for mine, though. I make wigs for all my mature 1:6 BJDs... it's just easier than buying one ready-made that I like.
Here's the one I bought. Thankfully the photos is still up. メルカリ It comes with the original faceup?? And wigs?? So I probably wouldn't have to worry too much... (Artist are soooo expensive nowadays) Although I really do wished it was a girl version instead of the male one
Oh, dang, with the original Araki faceup and blushing! I haven't seen one like that in years. That's a find. A 'basic' resin Unoa Light came as an unassembled kit (complete with sprue marks on the resin pieces) that the owner would have to clean and assemble on their own, with a 'wig' that was a pattern and a square of uncut fur. You're correct that he'll probably need restringing - it depends how old the elastic is - but a lot of the work has been done for you.
Congrats on a great find. I wish I had snagged one when they first came out. Back then I thought they were too much work and too expensive for not being assembled.
