1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Unoss Discussion Thread

Dec 9, 2009

    1. Post some before and after pics when you're done!

    2. Ok LaPlaceDemon! You got it!

So... here is what I am starting with. This is her auction picture. I thought at first it is the lighting because she looks so yellow, but no... she arrived way more yellow than my oldest Unoa girl! Her faceup is terrible (now since removed) and more!

More of it will be in my flickr under Unoss Restoration.

    3. commented on flickr aswell but whattahell:aeyepop:

    4. Ya... I got my work cut out for me >.<

    5. Ok some good news other than restoring the other Unoss: So this is Bebe from my face up artist table. Isn't she cute? She even managed to make the default eyelashes work! I can't wait to see her in person!

As for the Unoss restoration project I got some apoxy sculpt coming in the mail now. It is supposed to come on my birthday. I think I will probably not do much work on her until I get the apoxy. It looks like there is a lot of sanding in the future!

    6. Gamekitty, I'm confused. The Unoss you just bought is really yellowed. How is the apoxy sculpt going to help that?
I really don't know how to reverse the yellowing of the resin. Volks' resin really does mellow, and it's a pretty candle light tone. (Not sure how it looks if it sits in the sun for a period of time.) From the photo you have, it looks as if the resin has yellowed unevenly. I'm sure washing your doll would help greatly and I do hope you can fix her so you're happy. I love the faceup on your other doll and yes the sculpted eyelashes look great.

Added: I bought my girl from Volks a long time ago. The clothing she came with was made out of white synthetic lycra, or something close to that. Anyhow, the material has lost most of its stretch and it's kind of sad looking, not the hawt outfit pictured in the book....lol.

    7. oriscany: Thanks for the comment on Bebe! I have 2 Unosses. Bebe is an unmodded girl that still wrapped in plastic when I got her. She spent her entire time in her original box. (I did say I am spoiled on my first Unoss!)

Well... if you looked at my photo album about her there are a few parts let's just say that are completely irreparable without the apoxy. Somehow the previous owners pried off the S hooks off her hands and then replace it with something weird that just came off with a xacto knife! The apoxy sculpt would help fixing the S hooks back into her hands. Also, the inside of her head looks like hell! It looked like the previous owners had superglued the eyes on her head and then pried it off with a screwdriver. The apoxy sculpt will stabilize the inside of the eye sockets so she can once again have at least a normal eye socket.

As for the yellowing it is actually even. I already cleaned off her quite a few times with alcohol/magic eraser and she still is pretty yellow. Her whole body looks like this in direct sunlight. This is a comparison shot between my unmodded girl and the new girl All of the new girl looks exactly like that shade:

To deyellow her I am going to try Oxiclean soak on her. I didn't do it yet because she is full of glue! That has to come off first.

    8. At least it's all even~ that should be helpful

Her faceup looks great thought~ I deff love the sculpted eyelashes

    9. Ok I got an update on my very yellow girl:

I had taken great steps in improving her outlook. At the moment, she is being deyellowed. I managed to get her head to match my 8 year old Unoa sist girl after a few days in oxiclean formula that has no chloride, bleach, and no scent/perfume. I will continue to deyellow her as much as possible so that the body and the head would match in resin color.

To see more pictures, you can go here. I got lots of pictures under Unoss restoration project.

So glad this girl is going to be better!

    10. I wonder if you asked Volks about the yellowing of the old resin what they'd say. In as much as they develope resins for so many of thier products, they might be able to give you an idea about a safe way to restore your girl.

You've done a great job and she's looking better.

    11. Thanks oriscany and captainkyo for your kind comments!

oriscany: No I did not ask Volks how to deyellow the resin. I am kind of just doing it through reading online. I probably should have but I don't think they would know any more really other than spray the doll with mr. super clear uv flat or something to prevent it from going in further.

    12. Fine grain sanding and bakingsoda usally does the trick ( afriend of mine turned her green doll wreck she bought in to a normalskin)

    13. LaPlaceDemon: I do have sandpaper up 12000 grain but I am holding sanding off for now since it seems to be working. If the body does not budge because it is more yellow than I would definitely reconsider!

    14. Great job so far Gamekitty! And awesome work your faceup artist has done with those lashes.

I'm bringing my girl to Dollism, and my friend just did a fantastic sparkly faceup on her, I love it so much. I have to paint the resin parts on her space bikini and robot visor thingy now :)

    15. Love unoss! Did they put anywhere in the description that it would be that yellow? Did you pay a lot or considerably less because of the condition? At least the eyelashes and brows weren't modded off

    16. Thanks Kate! The restoration continues!

Lazhielle: I have 2 Unosses: one of them is Unmodded and the other one is the yellow one being restored. There is no indication that she was yellow on the auction description. Actually I got the Unoss for her clothes. The fact she is there is a bonus. I did not pay very much for her as auctions go, but it was still not cheap.

I have more pics of her on the workshop journals under the name Unoss Restoration project. There are just too many pics to post to post on here, although I do send everyone updates when I have them.

    17. I just got a beautiful dress custom made for my Unoss. It is absolutely amazing with all the small details and aaah! I'm so happy about it! Now Kalla just needs a new faceup and she's finally what she's supposed to be!

    18. she is such a cutey!

    19. Giggy! She is lovely! Loving it!

Ok so I got far enough on my restoration project that I can show you some very awesome pictures with all what Siena, Aika, AND the elusive kitty set looks like on the Unoss that I am restoring. I got her to the color of new Unoa regular skin color, which is not the usual peachy color of Unoss but I like her that way.

    20. :( This thread has gone quiet again, but I have new pics for my Unoss!

So last night I got my Unoss restored enough for her to stand! After doing some more work she will be ready for painting and blushing. So looking forward to that! :D

I had done so many things that I just placed what I had done in this thread: Unoss Restoration Project/
