Very first stains/cracks/dents/marks?

Jun 5, 2009

    1. Today, one of my boys had his first 'scars', quite bad dents in both arms because they were strung very tight and I had to fight a lot to put new hands on.... but he's fine and I'm gonna boil him sometime in the future (they don't bother me, they actually make me love him more)
Usually, when I have something I love and something bad happens to it, I get sad and don't really wanna touch the thing again in fear it may break but dolls turns out to be different. The dents scare me since in one of his arms it kinda looks like a little chip and I'm afraid it may get wider or something........

    2. My MNM Die head (Howe Kyn) Is my darling. He is like my son and I care so much for him. When I first got him he had a face up from his first owner, but then when I got it and it chipped I was so scared. I did not know how to deal with it at first. I looked around for face up artist and found Tiffanyjbt. She was a free worker at the time and so I quickly sent him to her.

In all honesty, no- it did not change my view of the doll at all. IN fact the face up coming off I thought at first ruined the doll altogether. I had assumed the resin would needed to be sanded in order to remove the paints. (Of course now I know that is not true.) I feel with him looking the way he does, I still love him. At the moment he had fallen, rolled on my floors and nothing of the scratches dents or marks are on him. Thank goodness. :|

But I have seen plenty of people get rid of their doll if they are lightly damaged. It is sad to see but true. I just think of it as one man's trash, it becomes an others treasure.

    3. luckily no cracks or chips. But the first scrach was on my sd13 boy and it was from a silver necklace. I remember trying to polish it out, it's not too obvious or anything. I was moderately upset at first since they are so pricey. I try to be careful with my dolls but accidents happen. Stains have happened from clothing but those Mr. Clean magic erasers always work (so far at least)

    4. First damage goes to Moswen (my first doll). Ironically, it was when I was shipping him out to get his face-up/body-up. I packed him well but he got a chip in the back of his head where it meets the neck. Fortunately, the face-up artist found the chip in the pillow and was able to glue it back in place.

Moswen also got some kind of scratch/mark above his eye (I think it happened at a meet *frowns*). I've been afraid to try and tackle it for fear that I'll wreck his face-up. You don't see it in pictures and it's very, very light so mostly unnoticeable.

Kijika has a tiny spot of eyeliner missing on one eye when his eyelash came off. Since he's getting a new face-up in the near future, I'm not all that bothered by it.

With any luck, that's all that'll happen to my dolls *crosses fingers*.

    5. well lets see, this story made my friends LOL XD when I first got my doll I didn't knew much about them (still don't XD) so after a week or so I noticed that he had a brown-ish spot in his thigh (he's a white skin so I noticed quick), I got a damped piece of cloth and started rubbing it off (I have to buy some magic spongies XD) But I didn't know that nail polish could stain doll's resin (yes I'm that dumb XD) and I was wearing black nail polish D: so I accidentally made a line/stain of nail polish in his goods (XD) I stopped and stared at the doll...........then I said "don't get any ideas" and started rubbing of that spot while looking away and crying (not for real). XD so yeah.....I learned my lesson. Sorry if the story was a bit inappropriate XD

    6. This probably isn't the first one, but I had Lye (head) on Nayo's body and was outside taking photos. He was in a chair with his legs perpendicular to the ground while I was photographing iiru, and one of Lye's legs snapped down onto the cement @3@;
No serious damage, but there's a *super* tiny dent on the bottom of his foot.

    7. Rowena swandived off my dresser and snapped her pinky off. Her face, thank goodness, was fine. I was almost pleased she'd finally had her first accident!

    8. I spilled red Sno Cone on Anne a few days ago... I was really worried too, since red stains the most of any dye, but the MSC did it's job and the tissue I kept in her torso really helped clean her up right away. I just need to wash her clothes now... :sweat Nothing too bad yet!

    9. My first BJD, a Soom Gem Asil in Normal Skin, was sitting on her display shelf and I sat in my chair which was almost directly under it. Suddenly, the display shelf falls off the wall, cracks me in the head, and before I knew what was going on, my doll hit the floor and I heard this heart wrenching snap. 2 of her little fingers had been broken off! I cried holding my little one and her 2 severed fingers. I calmed down after a bit, got out the super glue, and glued them back on only to find that they didn't quite fit back together. I was still upset...so I wrapped up her arm and hand with an ACE bandage that had been cut to size. I immediately looked on the Soom website for replacement hands, and sure enough, there they were. This whole experience was traumatizing, but does not make me hate my little girl one bit. She also has a few scuffs on her face up...which I will get someone to redo anyways. I love my little Evangeline!

    10. I recently took my doll's jeans off after a few weeks of leaving that on him and found a dark blue stain on his resin and was pretty upset about it. After cleaning it up (and that was a pretty difficult task), it disappeared - thank god - but I'm never leaving his clothes on ever again. >< He's sleeping in the nude in his box from now on.

    11. Ha... haha...

My very first was with someone else's doll. It was a DoC and I was trying to figure out how to remove the headcap to change the eyes. I ended up scratching the back of the head slightly with the S-hook inside. :\ Totally panicked, because it wasn't my doll, after all, and I was terrified that I might have to pay for it. But it turned out barely noticeable.

My first with (one of) my own doll(s) was sometime soonish after I completed my Yder. While playing with him, his head fell off. The S-hook had slipped through the neckpiece, catching on the neck and gouging nice little chunks of resin out. *facepalm* Recently happened again, which led to me changing to a new S-hook. Not too bothered, since it's not visible with the head on and doesn't compromise structural integrity.

My first with my first doll also only happened recently. After nearly 4 years of unevenful ownership, he took a dive out of my cupboard and chipped his ankle. Let's just say I was distraught, considering he's a) tan and b) no longer in production. Found the chips, glued them back on, but, argh, damn it! After nearly FOUR years! T_T

That being said, I'd be really upset if any of their fingers broke. D: Chips and stains, I can deal with. Broken fingers? NO WAY. O_O

    12. Stain-wise, my boy doll's black clothes have left parts of his torso and legs a little grey, and I can't be asked to clean it off since I never take his clothes off o.O
But, I'm planning on a nude angel shot with loads of feathers and stuff, so I'll have to clean him sometime, lol.
My girl doll's body had stains too from all her black clothes, but I was thinking about selling the body once and cleaned it really thoroughly... and then it looked lubbly, so I kept her and bought her a new head xDD

I've never had dents, cracks or anything physical.
I always keep them safe at home. I've only ever been to one dollmeet xD

    13. I guess my first accident was a stain. I made my girl new blue jeans, and she was trying them on before I finished them. When I took them off the resin on her legs and bottom was distinctly gray, and I may have panicked a little bit... But washing it with water it came off, and I learned to wash fabrics before I put them on my doll.

Echo also has little chips on the inside of her head from her s-hook. I'm not really sure how that happened, but it doesn't bother me at all because you can't see it when she's got her head on ^^

She's had a few falls, but she's been lucky, and there's been no lasting damage. Those always freak me out the most though, because i worry she will lose the tips of her little elf ears, or her beautiful fingers. :S But it won't stop me from trying new poses... I just make sure she's solid before I get ready to shoot.

    14. my boy's first "uh oh" was a stain. i had gotten him black leggings and thinking that because they came from an owner, they would already be dolly-ready. stupid me left him in them for a few days before changing him to work out his halloween costume. i nearly panicked when i found black around his knees and all on his legs. it came off with the mr. clean magic eraser and soap and water just fine, but still, scared the crap out of me.

      i did everything i could think of to try and get the ink out of the leggings, but no matter how long i washed them or let them soak, they still would run a dark purple ink. needless to say, he won't be wearing those again anytime soon. ^^;

    15. I think I'm surprisingly lucky with my AOD boy, he's a rock. XD When he came, his faceup protecter had chipped off the MSC on his nose, but I'll get to fixing it later and it can only be seen if you're looking for it. He's fallen off a coffee table onto the carpet, no damage, off of my dresser onto carpet, no damage.

Most recently he's had his scariest fall. He was standing on the hall desk (I usually have protective pillows and/or blankets around him when he's standing without me around, but I had forgotten) and went into the washroom to brush my teeth. More then 10 minutes later I heard a *bang* *bang*, two heavy things hitting the hardwood floor (where there used to be nice, soft carpet). I rushed out to find Tobias had fallen headfirst onto the floor and the second 'bang' had been his headcap which was lying away under the desk beside his wig that had also come off. I was freaking out and searching his body for damage when my brother came by to help (he had stayed away at first so I knew it wasn't him that had done anything). Anyways, my boy is completely fine! *whew* not even a scratch on the face or anywhere else after a vigourous inspection!

    16. Lu's shoes have the Iplehouse logo on the inside of the soles - in black. So after I left them on her feet for a while, sure enough, she got black marks on the soles of her feet. :doh I didn't have any magic erasers handy, so I tried soap and water and....nothing happened. So I panicked. :...( I thought I was such a terrible doll owner.....until I went home from college, found a magic eraser, and cleaned it off in half a second. Lol.

Then this summer, she took a pretty good fall and faceplanted onto my concrete patio. Scared the crap out of me, but there wasn't any big damage - just a clown nose effect from a black splotch of dirt on her nose and....a chip in the faceup under her chin!? :? I still don't know how that works. Her nose cleaned up fine, but for the life of me I can't even fathom the physics involved that would mess up the tip of her nose AND the underside of her chin.

    17. Yesterday I promptly freaked out because there was a TINY (by tiny, like, seriously tiny) little grey mark on my doll's blushing on his face. It was on his cheek, barely noticeable really, but I freaked out all the same~! It looked like a pencil mark but I can't for my life figure out what made it. Still don't know.
Thankfully my friend had given me an entire packet of Magic erasers (at least, the version of it that we have here, sold at the Daiso chain of stores) before I'd even gotten him, so I hurriedly snipped one corner off a piece and then rubbed it on the stain, dry. She'd told me to wet it first, but I didn't want to in case it was too "strong".
The stain came off, and his blushing is still intact, so I'm happy.
My heartbeat DID quicken quite a tad though! XD

    18. The first scratch I got on my boy was on his chest from a zipper that was too tight against the resin. It happened maybe two weeks after he arrived. It was heart breaking :( he hasn't really gotten any scratches since then, because it made me so ridiculously paranoid and careful.

    19. Poor Kestrel took a dive off the kitchen counter a couple of weeks back and though his face was fine, there's a big chip missing off his left knee joint. Doesn't seem to hurt his posing ability, he's still stable, but I'll have to write Resinsoul and see what a new one will cost, just to have it on hand in case this one gets worse. I figure the resin won't match, but that's OK-I'll have it if I need it. I felt like a terrible dolly mom!

    20. Lark isn't too active since I need to restring those ridiculously long limbs, so no cracks or scrapes or scratches yet (though he did take a flying leap off of the table the first day I had him lol). The worst so far are some weird black smudges all over his body from when I unboxed him, and a huge black stain I found on his butt. I kept calm and grabbed a spare magic eraser I had from cleaning my apartment, and it came off with no trouble at all.
