1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Victorian Winter Dolls discussion

Jun 30, 2010

    1. Looking at her its her blushing that gives her a pearly look it seems, or maybe just her body has sparkles on it?? x_x I like her face sculpt tho :D

      Yea X3

    2. I'm in a yahoo group that specializes in after market dolls and equipment. We all started here. The sad thing I'm seeing is some limiteds (that just came out) being put up for sale.

I have no idea why they are, may be finances, but for the $$ they're asking, if I'd wanted one, I could have just gotten one up front from the doll company.

I've got two dolls that broke the bank and I swear (yeah, like that worked the first time) I'll never do that again. but ya know, I love my Luts kids, and my 2 DZ's. Nothing special, just stock and standard and I wouldn't have them any other way.

*ducks the assorted Muses! protesting how 'normal' they are*

    3. I guess the problem is that a lot of people buy them without seeing owners pictures or anything...just because you never know, once they are gone they are gone. Something like what VW described with limited resin colors/outfits/faceup combination wouldn't really run that risk because it would be a tried and true sculpt with just limited elements. But I definitely agree the whole "limited fantasy doll" thing is a little played out. It gets so much more exciting than what the sculpts actually are! I'm definitely guilty of getting excited for the next Soom doll XD But I haven't even bought one yet except after-market.

    4. @ Freya: Yea! One of my dream dolls is an Unoa Lusis. The last batch I missed (It would be almost $700 when I checked) So I checked a few weeks ago in the market and saw one going for over $1000~! But it was already put together and everything! (I want one to put together myself X3) so I told myself I'll wait for next time (haa, the money I saved up for her was able to get me sooms Gluino tho lol!! I'm a bit happier with his purchase)

@Anneke: Yea, I agree. I think thats why companies do it really. You don't have time to decide whether or not you really want it, so you have to get it now and decide later. I would only want to because of how hard it is to mold somethings, or get the right color again.

      BUT I have good news.
      flippn. gorgeous. COLOR!

Odette won't be in this color (possibly) It was the only mold I have at the moment. Its such a beautiful rich color! ohh I could see just a red-coral blushing, glitter, :O I sanded it, and it only goes slightly lighter.
But I want to wait til I'm much better with my seams before I do darker colors. I'll play with green in a couple days, I'm helping move his sister in here tonight so I'll be busy cleaning and moving X3

    5. :o:o:o OMG THAT is an AMAZING color!!!

      SO CUTE!!! :D :aheartbea

      Good luck moving!!

btw--you mentioned before that you could do some resin tests on bad casts if we could think of any. I know you're busy moving so please don't let this distract you, but if you have another "bad cast" or junk resin piece, would you mind putting it out in direct sunlight to see how it yellows? Yellowing is a huge fear of mine and I know that most companies resin yellows differently depending greatly on their brand of resin...it would be great to know how much Odette will be able to stand.

    6. OH MY GOODNESS, SHE IS AMAZING!

What a vibrant color! Add some shimmer and she will be perfect. Keep up the good work VictorianWinter ^^ she looks so good.

    7. @Anneke: Thank you! <3
Sure! I'll actually try it today (I have a headcap thats mold didn't line up correctly) I'll take a before, then a 1 hr, then 3 hr. I have to wait til 2-4 since thats when we get direct sun on our patio :) *This one will be without any MSC, the only type of MSC I use is the UV cut)

@Ladyrselie: :D Thank you!! <3<3 I'll be adding mica powder as a next test, my only fear is that it will all settle to the bottom of the mold? Might also depend on how much I use. But thats what tests are for! :3

    8. Ohhh! she so prettyy! Congrats on the soom doll too.

    9. Thanks for trying that out! I know I've read a few stories about people who have their dolls out in the sun for only a few minutes and they turn green! It will be great to know how much/how little sunlight I will be able to expose my Odette too once I finally get her ^_^ *wishes life had a fastforward button*

    10. Ooooooooooooh! Purple! YES!!!!

    11. That is a very pretty color! Its not all ashy like over 'purples' ive seen, its looks almost red-violet, which is a nice warm tone.

      ^_^

Oh! and I didn't get to post earlier, but hooray for Palm Pixies! I think it is a very cute name. And I'm really excited to here you're making progress with them, as I recently discovered that my favorite size of doll is puki sized! *excited bouncing*

    12. Thank you everyone! I can't wait to make it all shimmery~~~

OH! Speaking of Palm Pixie (Thank you for the idea Anneke ;))
I posted pics in the blog pics of the beginning of them!!
      Blog
They're 13cm tall. I'm still working on the face. I'm trying to not make it look Fairyland ish (Which is what it seems to be leaning towards >.<) so I'll be changing the eyes soon. I really want it pouting! and possibly a cat-ish nose....not sure yet. I'll have to play with it later XD

    13. I admit myself to drooling over this one:
http://www.dreamofdoll.com/eng/product/product_view.asp?idx=5X00001019&search_Cate=p_best The MKaillar from Dream of Doll. But right now, not even for the rest of 2010 can I even consider it. VW is paid in full, but I'm dreading the electrical repairs bill when it arrives. *runs and hides* LOL So while I may drool, I doubt it will happen.

Then again, I said that about the Bermann and the Haute Hound - course those two were 2nd and 3rd mortgage LOL

Hmm, reading my post I have come to the conclusion that: I am well and thoroughly hooked on these sweet kids. *sigh* Doomed just doomed. And of course we all know a certain Teg will be coming next and doomed even more dooooomed. XD

    14. Yeah I wonder at myself for the fortune I have spent on dolls--and I just started in this hobby six month ago!

I am very glad the VW dolls are not limited :sweat I want to buy one and only one. All my other dolls are for really specific characters, so Odette will be special!

    15. And I just noticed the ... I know it's purple, but honestly it looks fuschia! What an amazing full bodied colour! XD

I started in... (goes to look at post for date) oh 2006. So late 2006 I guess I got my first doll. CP Lishe. I blame my friend in Iowa. hahaha But I fell so hard in love with my Alice -- I was never a Barbie type girl. oh I wanted one, don't get me wrong. And in 1960 those things cost a mint! I played with her until she died. Or was so totally gnarled up. LOL I was a tomboy ya see and my Barbie was either a spy or a cop or supervillain... um. yeah. My Lishe though is queen of my household, gets her way just by batting her blue eyes.

Methinks I am well and truly stuck with this hobby and I couldn't be happier. :)

    16. Stop you are killing me! Want purple dollie!!!!!

    17. @Freya; Oh he's pretty! *Eyes his sword lol* The color is really more this color irl: Doll Color I just have a terrible time getting the color right with my camera ;A;

@Stella: XD Sorry! Don't worry, you'll have plenty of time to save up before I release any lol (Purple won't be limited)

    18. WHOOT! i would love for a pouty pixie! she/he looks so cute so far!

    19. Thank you Skye!!

I worked a lil on the face: [IMG]

      I want more pout! X3

    20. Aw look at those widdle ears!!!! That's already quite a pouty pout you have there, I bet the faceup with a crinkled up eyebrow and turned up nosie would make the poutitude truly epic!
