1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Victorian Winter Dolls discussion

Jun 30, 2010

    1. So after bypassing Sacramento the first time through (apparently Portland was more appealing) she arrived safely this afternoon and promptly took over the ribbons I was working with. She hasn't been forthcoming on her name yet, although she has let slip that it starts with an N...Nimue, Nynaeve, Nyx... She is adorable from the tips of her pointy toes to the ends of her pointy ears.

She did come as fullset, but I was having fun trying some other looks.

Thanks again VW! I'll be watching for the next releases :)

    2. That would be a good idea regardless of naming rights. All it takes is someone in another country to copyright the name you want and can legally have and then YOU end up paying to get it back. Yeah, I know. But I'M paranoid that way. I still remember the McDonald's study back when I was in accounting classes. @.@ Nothing like paying some japanese college student millions to get your trademark back. :P

    3. Oh good heavens she's beeeutiful!
So she's in Sacramento? Awesome. My Odette will waive as she comes to West Sac. LOL
I love the tattered ribbon look. Very Bohemian.

    4. Looks great Julia! It's fun seeing what clothes other people put her in.

    5. Julia she is gorgeous!

    6. Posted on the faerie doll thread some photos of her as a blond. Go look!

    7. WOW Julia, she looks amazing in that outfit! those long ribbons suit her so well because of her long fae fingers--the combination is gorgeous!

Midnitestar: I was so hoping you'd keep tabs on VW dolls! I know they aren't limited, but I think the fact that they are artist's dolls makes them rare too ^_^ I feel like we are in on some kind of secret being able to talk to the artisan herself here on DoA. It makes her extra special to me anyways. I didn't think I could afford another doll anytime soon, but VictorianWinter makes them so much more special by being such an active member of the community--I'm babbling now, but I am just SO excited about her! And I'm glad you are keeping an eye on the special resins, it seems so much like your thing! :D

Edit: Themonkeythatsees--she looks GREAT as a blonde! And I love that she's getting into a little mischief already!

    8. Tried a new faceup, wig and eyes. She is great fun to play with :)

    9. I like that wig allot julia. Is it mohair?

    10. ooh julia I reallly like that look!

    11. skyealloway - Thank you :) I'm liking this look too. I tried another look before this with black eyebrows and red lips which really didn't work as well as I'd envisioned. The greens though...I'm a sucker for green :) Now to wait for VW's Earth faery.

TMTS - The wig is from mhdolls who has a commission and sale thread in the mp.

    12. Oh! She's GORGEOUS!!!! I love the look!

    13. Oh WOW! Those are so cute! I need to post some pictures of mine, been so busy playing!!!

Mine is going to the next dolly meet!!!! YAY!

    14. :D I love those pics Chehime!!

I can't cast anything since my pressure pot's regulator decided to stop working. Why is everything breaking down on me right now?! Its really driving me up the wall. I went to 3 places today to try to find either a replacement or make something different work. I have a different setup now but it still leaks (it doesn't leak til it gets to 20psi, I need up to 45psi to work)
So I extremely apologize for those waiting for their dolls! I'm working really hard on replacing that part. (Hopefully I can get it done tomorrow, but I can't promise anything!)

BUT because I can't cast anything I've been able to work on the 3rd Twlwyth Teg doll a bit and the Pixie. (The only upside to my day x_x) I started on the joints for the pixies :) and Anneke has a good point, and got me thinking. I used Welsh for my faes, why not for my pixies?
Bwca (Booka)- means Brownie in Welsh. Brownies make themselves responsible for the house where they live by coming out at night to complete unfinished work. Any offer of reward will drive them away, but they expect an occasional bowl of milk and a piece of cake to be left out. Tradition says they do not like teetotallers and ministers. If offended, brownies will create malicious mischief.
Pwca (pooka): Wales. A version of Puck, not like the Irish Phouka. They are helpful if milk is left out, but can also be mischievous.
Gwragedd Annwn (gwarageth anoon): Wales. Lake faeries, harmless Water Spirits.

Just more ideas until my little pixie screams at me thats the one they like X3
I'll post some pics of what I have done in my blog a little later.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to PM me! <3

    15. Booka and Pooka are SUCH cute names, even if they are the more English phonetic spelling! The traditional spelling seems like it might be...difficult for some people to wrap their heads around.

Good luck getting that pressure pot working! :D

    16. Maybe the "correct" spelling, but with a pronunciation key on the doll page it's self?

    17. I'd cross my fingers but if I did I'd never finish up the afghan and lace. BUT I can cross my toes. Just can't run very fast. Oh wait, I can't run anyway. I might break a doll. LOL

I love your Cymry research. It's the kind of thing I do for the heck of it, and then get so tickled when someone else mentions the same thing.

I'm curious as heck over the water being that lives under the lake up by Snowdon - Cader Idris - supposed to be deep, dark, cold and bottomless and the home to some Otherworldly being.

    18. That's an interesting idea, maybe it could almost be a source for Welsh Fae education...

    19. Yea I'm leaning more to the Booka name ^^ (On the FAQ is where I was going to have the pronunciation :)
Originally I had the Twlywth Teg spelt Terlooeth Teig (the pronounciation of it) One of the moderators mentioned how Welsh are very much into their heritage, and I might offend them by spelling it different....
      Thank you Anneke!!

:O Thats a great idea though, maybe give the original meaning also with the pronunciation?

Heh X3 Thank you Freya! I love researching things :O And I love looking up other languages (Even if I have no real clue how to pronounce it without a program x_x)
