1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Victorian Winter Dolls discussion

Jun 30, 2010

    1. Really? The ones from Camellia Dynasty are pretty inexpensive. I stumbled across them when I was looking for my Wong kitty. I wasn't entirely sure what they were supposed to be. Like a hat or something? I figured it was an anime thing because Sailormoon always had her cat sitting on top of her head. When I got a cat in real life and put him up there he clawed the beans out of me. Nope--cats do not belong on heads! :eusa_naug

    2. That head kitty was adorable.

    3. Victorian Winter! I'm so excited to see your doll here! I saw her as a work in progress on the Joint. Congratulations on getting your buniness up and running and on sculpting this beautiful doll!

    4. lol, yup, I've tried putting my cats on my head too...it only works in cartoons :sweat Anyway, these were head kitties I was talking about

I just now had a chance to go to your link, thier head kitties are really inexpensive! I'll have to consider them, for sure.

    5. @Tami: Thank you!! ~<3

I know Fleece hats are really popular in Japan (http://cute-plush.com/hats.htm) could possibly be that ^^

I wanna make a cute flower hat for my Faes, but I don't know if I should sculpt them or have my fabulous seamstress do them XD

    6. A whole day without new posts in this thread?! *_* I figured it was time for me to see what was going on in our little VW fan club :)

I sold a bunch of old stuff at a yard sale (including my knockoff Arwen sword from Lord of the Rings--it was cheap Pakistani reproduction, not the nice United Cutlery or Nobel Collection ones) and made like $70! That's much closer to my new doll cabinet, which I'm going to get this month before I get my Odette.

I figure this way I have time to see what Gwendolyn is going to be all about :) As well as be able to start my fairy shelf going before Odette arrives!

    7. I KNOW!! XD *sqweels over fan club :B*

:O Arwin sword....:drool Nice that your closer to your cabinet though!!

I'm getting super excited about everything I'm working on.......I just wish things set faster lol.

I used to work on weekends as well but decided its getting a bit much for me...so Sat. and Sun. I don't work ^^; (i.e. Casting/Molds, but I do sculpt on those days! ;))

By the end of this week I should get an order out, then I can start on the next. I have one on layaway that I'll start too after I finish the 2nd order I need to finish...by then I should have enough pressure pot time open to do molds (I thought Friday would be a good day to do them but I need more then one day to finish Gwendolyn)

    8. Anneke, I'm still here.
      Just waiting for my Odette.
And reading. omg reading. I knew getting a Nook would be a mistake. (not really) but my god 3 books in 2 days. Just... oh never mind. I have crochet to do too so I have no excuse. LOL

    9. Oooh VW of course I hope it's mine that you will be starting lolz, not like she's paid off! Seriously though no rush for me, I'll be happy to wait. Muse Star's is so adorable, right now I am just living vicariously.
freya1924 reading is good for your brain, keeps you away from dolly sites. As for me, I can read and knit at the same time. It's actually why I prefer knit over crochet, I don't have to look at knitting.

    10. I love reading too! I'm reading The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. I think is pretty standard fantasy fare, but I loved reading about the Night Whisps. I imagine them looking like Odette :) I haven't transitioned yet to an ereader... But when the time comes I think it's going to be the nook so that I can keep track of all my downloads without the hardware. Also, I feel like there should be a service that you can mail your old books to, pay a small fee, and they send you a digital copy for your ereader. If that were the case my bookshelves would be empty (or rather, filled with other stuff) and all my old books would be digital!

Except of course my antique books, my absolutely favorite books, and my fairytale books (because the illustrations are too gorgeous to see only in that terribly black and white screen!)

I also need to think of a better companion for Odette than the Mimi doll I was looking at earlier. She's amazing, but I saw some tiny BJD's at Fresno's doll show this weekend and I don't think that size will work for me. I'm hoping that the next Soom Faery Legend will be one I *gotta have* or maybe Resinsoul would release an impish doll that appeals more to me. I just imagine Odette all alone in her fairy garden with no one to frolic with---sad!

    11. Wait whaaat? Fresno's doll show? How on earth did I not know this?!? Wait was it at the library? I knew there was going to be something there but thought it was all porcelains..
      I would have gone and then you could have seen my Odette... ;.{

    12. Hehehe I can crochet and watch movies and not look unless it's a complicated stitch. I just turn on TCM or FoxMovie and hook like mad.

    13. OH! I'm so sorry, I meant Vallejo's doll show :doh I'm sorry, that was a retarded mistake to make! The Vallejo doll show was at the Vallejo fairgrounds (right across the street from Marine World.)

I went with my mom, it was mostly antique dolls, which were fun to see, and the BJD section was just two tables or so but GREAT to see so many dolls all at once :D

    14. Ahh. Vallejo would be different. >.< still not to far away though...Hmmm...O.o

    15. I just found out that plans to get my Odette might be on hold :doh:doh

They are planning on bringing in a fulltime high-level marketing person at my job and already laid off our entire PR firm because this person is essentially going to replace them. I am not eligible for the job because I don't have the necessary experience but I'm getting the jive that my marketing position is on the chopping block! It took me six months to get this job after being laid off from my previous one *_* I dunno what I'm gonna do. Except probably not buy Odette until I know I have some job security :( I'm just frustrated I didn't buy Odette sooner.

      I need a more emotive icon: :...(
      That works.

    16. That is really rough! I hope everything works out for you Anneke!!!!

    17. I think I might just put her on my Christmas list. At least I will have a menagerie of fae to choose from by then judging by the pace Victorian Winter is working, LOL!

    18. Oh thats terrible to hear Anneke!! :( I really hate the job market right now in America...and now that Obama is going to try get a bunch of military back to the states there's going to be even less jobs :\ (Unless the previous jobs they had are on hold for them)
Right now my husband is going to school for being a Medical Assistant (First step for him to becoming a Neurologist) because he can't find any jobs out here.

That is a bright side though! You'll more then likely have all 4 elements and possibly a 5th fae to choose from by then XD

    19. I'm surprised to hear it's difficult for someone in the medical profession to find work! Usually that market starts booming when people can't afford to take proper care of themselves =/

I'm thankful to have a job now, and that my husband has a job. Even if I lost my job I'd still be able to afford my place for at least a year with all the crazy penny pinching I've done my whole life :) It just means I have to cut out extravagances =/

    20. Oh no, he's going to school so he can get into the medical profession because theres plenty of jobs here lol.

Thats good to hear. We've been having issues with money lately (I had to dip into my company money to pay a little for rent...If I didn't we'd get evicted :\) We've cut out extravagances for awhile now lol. (The last game I've bought was last year :( now I just find online games or go to friends houses to play their games lol ^^;) I just wish we were a lil more careful with our money like you before he lost his job...but his sister and her boyfriend are able to pay for food and soon will help pay for rent, so we aren't scrapping for change anymore lol.
