Personally, I prefer Odette- she seems more delicate and ethereal to me. It's important in my view of faes that they look other worldly! As gorgeous as Mixi is in her own way, she's just a little too...human, Soom could've reached outside the box and done something more fae like...maybe I'm just too taken by Odette's fingers and toes...>.> Freya your girl is gorgeous, especially with her husband! I don't think I'm going to get Odette, not for a while anyway (and for a while I mean after I've left college and got a better paying job .___.), but I'm excited to see what VW has coming in the future ^^;;
Well, Odettes are magical! I have one, and she is so eteral looking, I choose her over the first Soom. You won't be disappointed!
Update for those waiting for their dolls: Still moving/organizing, so I probably won't be able to work til Wed. (Hopefully Tues) I should be getting a 2nd pressure pot so orders will be a lot faster (And Gwendolyn should finally appear!)
I wonder if VW has a leg-up on companies like Soom with being more exposed and familiar with Western Fae mythos? We grew up with Brian Froud and all that here, while I think Soom might be a little more limited. I noticed that their fae's are basically humans with wings, except slightly pointed ears (like Disney's Tinkerbell.) Though they do have the fae tapered toes, it's not nearly as interesting IMHO as VW's ears, toes, and fingers. But like I said before, I think the two of them would still compliment each other nicely on a shelf Speaking of shelves, my husband got me my coveted doll cabinet yesterday! We spent all day after putting it together and now I'm loading it up with my dollies. I think I'm going to take off the top shelf and have the upper part reserved for Odette's fairyland and then the bottom will be for my fantasy girls They are all waiting for her to come home!
Ohhh, Your Cuprit is gorgeous!!! *always wanted one XDD* I really love that cabinet :O Congrats on getting it!! I actually really like Sooms fairy line Even though they are a bit more on the human side, the photo's give them this very comforting feel.(does that make sense?) Someday I'll get all the right equipment for great photos too...^^; And I like how they did the wings, they're magnetic but a very ingenious idea X3 The only problem I see with that is the sitting part, since the wings get in the way (Thats why I made mine so it can pose in any direction and not give any problems to poseability) I'm also thinking of making an 'adapter' for my wings so you can put them on other company dolls without damaging the doll itself. I love my dolls but I wouldn't mind if people made hybrids with my parts
oooooooooooooooooooooooooo that looks soooooooo awesome!!! I want one even more! I might not even be able to wait till winters comes out with a male faery!!! Aodh seems to be very willing to have Odette on his lap... ill just make up a new character to suit her... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I needs money!!!
oooooooo fingers! *sending healing your way* I love the story of your priest and fae... that must be interesting to RP/write out or even just day dream about like does his cross affect her? is she gonna convert him?
Gwendolyn (The next fae being released) Is a fire Fae Mira is a Air Fae Vesta (Name possible to change) is my Earth fae. They will be released in that order
Oooo I love the name Vesta! For some reason that just jumped out at me in your list of upcoming Faes Hawthorne~Cat, if you look quite a few pages back, Freya's story is linked So you can learn all about the characters and how he chose a fae over the "cloth." It's super romantic! I love reading people's stories about their dolls. It makes the chemistry between the two in her photos all that more endearing!
Oooooooooooooo im excited about the soon to be fire fae... but ... Vesta would be a better name for a fire fae... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vesta_(mythology) Id think Gwendolyn http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gwendolyn would make an awesome moon fae name... and Mira.. which can mean great or wonderful or exalted... seems to me to be a good 'warrior' or earth name!
Hm, well, I can't comment on the upcoming names in terms of fae-appropriateness, but I can say that when I saw Vesta.. I read Vespa. Like from SpaceBalls. I don't know if anyone but me would look at a name for a fae bjd and draw a connection to a famous satire 0_0
Hawthrone: I was thinking that too, but: "Vesta is the Earth itself, both have the perennial fire, the Earth and the sacred Fire show their see." Also means Earth Goddess...but I do see your point! Gwendolyn "Blessed Ring" I thought would be fun as a Ring of Fire XD But a moon fae....such a great idea!! skyealloway: You can if you want, I'm open with opinions LOL~! I havn't seen that movie in so long is probably why that didn't come to my mind when I picked it XD
the earth IS a big ball of fire deep down at is core! ah to me.. Gwendolyn is fair brow... I see more a pale blonde who is just and fair... fair in colour and behaviour and temperment maybe I just want/was thinking of a naughty mischievous fire fae with red hair and a punky attitude! LOL I hope this isnt considered too OT... since we are talking about names for the future series of dolls
I think the fun thing about mythological fae and fairytale figures is that they can be open to interpretation There are loads of meanings associated with a lot of names and figures that you can't really go wrong! I know I'm just dying to see Gwendolyn O_o I have the feeling her outfit is going to blow my mind...
lol... I just shutter everytime I read/hear about that mermaid called a male air elemental's name! I read monkey is making a 'fake' leather corset for Gwendolyn!!!
Monkey make a corset? Oh yes, yes. I need to order zippers for that now that I think of it. I was planning on sharing photos of the outfit prototype last weekend but school is killing all the spare time I didn't know I even had. >.< So sometime soon I'll surprise you all with a photo of my Odette in fiery garb. *giggle* I have a VW car now too..just can't get away from those initials.
