im pretty sure you could still blush a black doll... if you put lighter tones of conte on the dolll will look like it has hightlights... so basically you be putting colour on in reverse... instead of darker shadow tones on a light doll ... you brush on lighter hight tones... ... so cheeks brow bridge of nose... lips... you want to show that the doll has blood warming under their skin...
I'd say any dusting of white, silver, yellows or even pinks in very light shades. Really anything light on the side of spectrum would work. since you can really "paint" the resin as with any doll so long as it's not a permanent type of paint, the faceup could be whatever you want. Again, impressive! Am picturaing brilliant blue flecked with silver or white right now, almost into the ultraviolet spectrum. That would be one scary and impressive Fae. LOL
Yes, that is Odette's face with Gwendolyn's eyes >.< Sorry about that! I did more resin testing: http://victorianwinter.com/blog.php
Wow that resin is coming out perfectly! I'm so surprised to see such consistent color throughout the piece, I was always under the impression that tanned dolls are "marbled" in the meaty bits of the resin. Also, I must have a sweet tooth because that resin headcap looked soooo much like a wedge of dark chocolate to me I watched Pan's Labyrinth tonight with the hubby (one of my favorite movies of course!) and I was showing him that if VW made a black fae I would customize her to look as much like the fae from that film as possible. The glossy skin and other-worldly features would be perfect for those squeaky little fairies! They are what came to mind when I saw Odette for the first time as well.
haahaa it reminded me more of Licorice candy or something (not my fave XD) Thats what I thought too! I was rather amazed when I cut it...but my resin is constantly showing me that its far different from other companies...? I don't think anyone has ever saw'd a tanned doll in half though.....the world may never know LOLZ I love pan's Labyrinth!! I really want to get on that Pan's head GO MNM but gahhhh I dont have the money atm
Heh, I don't know about people sawing tanned dolls in half, but I remember seeing someone having cut an already broken piece of tan resin in half to show the effects of yellowing on tan- it was far lighter in the center. I'm glad to see that your resin works so well with colour! It seems to be even better than RS/BBB's coloured resin! Gwendolyn's ears look so dainty and cute, and I'm loving the black resin!
Heeee! At 45 cm she's actually quite a bit taller than she appears. The two tinies and the Karsh are smaller than she is. But yeah the sweetie gets lost amongst all the big ones. XD What can I say, it was Family Portrait Day.
Ah! What a sweet photo! I want to take a family portrait when I get mine She is so tiny in this photo, but she definitely leaves a very definite mark. What a beauty!
She is certainly distinctive, you won't be looking at photos from your local meetup and going "Was that my El, or my BDF's?", you will know who she is!
Posted Pictures of the eyes I've made: http://victorianwinter.tumblr.com/ the Ruby color I always get problems with, the black resin I use on the back always seeps to the front :\ Emerald is a deep hunter green, not black. Starry Night is rather glittery, with blues and purples. Aura Quartz does not make me happy lol.
Oh How exciting! I actually loved the Aura Quartz, but I'm sure you can tell more in real life how lovely they are. They seem really iridescent to me, like Alexandrite, going from purple to green. I love the red eyes that I've seen so far, it's a shame they are so difficult =/ Are you going to post them to your website as available for sale separately? Or are they intended to get only with the doll purchases?
Oh those came out wild VW! Even though the Ruby seems "muddied" they still are distinctive and could be oh so useful.
O_O WHOA, Freya I don't think I've seen Odette looking so sultry before. I agree, the eyes look fantstic. Very evocative.
