1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Volks DearSD 43cm Discussion Part 2

Jul 28, 2017

    1. I did win Mai. I didn’t post because I felt bad for those that didn’t win and I didn’t want to come off bragging. Since most are curious who won Mai I decided to speak out.
Does anyone know how the lottery works? I was told it is not first come first serve, but they would not reveal how they pick nor would they tell me how many of each doll.
I struggled finding owner photos of Mai and figured she was not in demand.
I am sorry for those that did not win and congratulations to those that did.
Hopefully Volks will offer more DSD in the future.:)

    2. I don't consider anyone saying they won to be bragging! Even if I personally lost, I am interested in seeing the results. Also congrats @Oliveoil!!

Volks doesn't say how the lottery works. We really don't know how many of each doll is available or how they pick. I'd imagine it's random out of the entries though.

For photos of Mai use "SDまい" or "SD_F_81" to search! Both DSD and SD appear in this hashtag. For only DSD Mai, use "DSDまい". I linked to the Twitter search pages, but you should be able to use the search term on other sites as well. You can scroll through the photos if you can't read Japanese. I sure can't!

    3. Thank you @nyaaain !
The photos on Twitter are lovely.. I never tried the sculpt number just name.
@snowgray posted nice photos, too. Thank you!

    4. Thank you! I do feel a bit silly knowing what I paid for her, but I worked relentlessly to save up for the retail price since the announcement of the lottery (with some help from family bc my birthday was this month) and I was determined not to let the loss sour all of that hard work and anticipation lol. I already couldn't sleep on the night of the results, and then I ended up staying up all last night as well to work extra hours and sell some of my dolls to cover the scalper markup, and all I felt was relief and joy when I finally got to press Buy It Now on the YJA listing, regardless of the price.

I am very tired and broke now, but I feel a lot closer to her now, knowing that I managed to push myself so far in order to turn what was once heartbreak into accomplishment! I have pretty unyielding depression and I rarely have that much energy on a normal day, much less when I'm deprived of sleep lol so it felt good to be able to do something that felt impossible.

I think this is what happened to me too, I spent all month looking at wigs and clothes for her which I NEVER do with lottery dolls for this exact reason! The universe doesn't like presumption it seems lol.

I hope you are able to get her one day soon! If it's any consolation, Standard Model Mai is absolutely gorgeous and I bet she'd look adorable on a DSD body in her skintone! I thought about doing something similar myself, since I've been eyeing her for a long long time. And of course, the sculpt is also available and very popular as an SDM if you happen to like them too. I feel like I probably would have been happy with her in SDM form since I already have more clothes for them, but as a lover of antique dolls I've always wanted a DSD, they really are the spiritual successors to Jumeau for me.

Thank you! She will definitely make an appearance here once she gets home from the proxy, until then I've been scrolling the various tags as Nyaain recommended above!

Congratulations! Mai is beautiful and I hope you love her!

I totally empathize, I try not to reveal my results in either direction during lottery periods; if I lose, I try not to say anything because I don't want the winners to feel bad, and when I win I try not to say anything because I don't want to look like I'm bragging. I usually just prefer to say "Congrats to the winners!" though some times I will slip up (Like I did in the edit of my previous comment on the other page lol)

At the end of the day I think it's better to be supportive to each other as a community so that we can all enjoy our dolls, win or lose.

    5. I 100% agree with this! Losses are inevitable but we should all still be happy for everyone who won! I hope there's no one so bitter that they would be hurt by someone else winning, but I suppose there may be someone like that watching this thread. It's not like anyone clicked the button better than anyone else. It's all just up to chance (or Mother SD)

It's also much more fun to be able to see the dolls once they've reached their homes rather than disappear without a trace. If I don't get to hold my own, looking at shared pictures over the internet is the next best thing! I want everyone to share their beautiful girls so I can live vicariously

And I am set on a WS DearSD because I really do want to be able to swap the bodies with the Lieselotte I preordered, so I will hold out on standard model Mai for now. She is such a beautiful girl, but I'm trying to hold off on dolls that aren't exactly what I want. I'm trying to force myself to be super picky or I'll have an apartment full of dolls and no money to pay rent. ;)

    6. My husband tried for Nico, but alas, didn't win her.:atremblin So I'm super curious now how many had tried for her as it did seem she wasn't as popular as Vanessa, Tiffany, and Mai. Still, congrats to everyone that won.:dance

And please check your SPAM and TRASH folders. There have been a second round of lotteries directly after the announcement dates in the past as there have been those that won but didn't pay for their dolls within the time frame Volks allotted to them (so around September 30th for this lottery). I've seen it happened in the past where maybe we didn't get the winning email on the set day but about a week or two later (usually sometime after the due date for paying Volks) one of us would get an email saying we won the doll. I usually hold out hope until at least two weeks or so after the first round of winner announcements (so sometime after September 30th?). I'm kind of hoping that Nico becomes available in a second lottery round, especially if there weren't many people that applied for her.:sweat

If all else fails, there's hope for the Dear SD "Frozen" girls!:kitty1

    7. @lunar-dream304 Thank you. I am glad you were able to get her on yja.
I only buy from VolksUSA. I recently ventured out and bought a few outfits on Volks JP. I hope it works out. They have a lot more in stock than USA.
I am a sucker for Volks outfits.
You are right about being supportive as a community. :)

Thank you @Ligaya24. I am hoping they offer the Frozen girls this year. It has been a long wait. I suppose they will be very limited and expensive, but super cute. My favorite movie. :)

    8. I wanted to ask about this... so does this mean her wig and outfit are randomized? Or just the wig? I never won a coordinate model type doll before...

    9. @Dybbuk I believe the listing itself had randomized wig, eye, and outfit color in the fine print.

    10. @nyaaain : Oh wow! :doh I totally did not read enough lol. Interesting. I can't wait to see what she ends up with. I love her blue dress but the other sets were gorgeous too.

I was also curious if they would re-lotto any unclaimed dolls. I'm glad, I hope that gives people another chance to get one.

    11. Mai is here! I wasn't gonna open her today, but I could hear something knocking around in the box and I had to make sure she wasn't damaged- and once I did, well, why not put on her wig and hold her for a few minutes before I have to get ready for work? lol

It was her hand knocking against the box; looks like the seller (or Volks maybe) didn't opt to fill the empty space in her box with extra cushions or bubble wrap, so she was just bouncing around in her box wrapped in the one pillow she came with, and her hand was sticking out. Good thing I opted for expedited shipping from Japan, otherwise she would have been bouncing all over the postal system for a week.

Luckily she's not damaged and is, in fact, the most beautiful doll I've ever handled in my life lol

The wig I ordered is perfect for her (didn't even bother to open the stock wig lol) luckily, though I'm thinking of getting the pink version of this wig for her as an alternate <3

I hope everyone is enjoying their new girls!

    12. @lunar-dream304 : She is such a cutie, and I'm so glad she made it safely to you. Actually when I ordered my Megohime, I was surprised to find that she was also just in her zipper pillow and no heavy padding within the box. :XD: I'm so used to dolls coming bundled like crazy but she was in her fullset outfit, face protector and that was it! Good thing Volks dolls are so hardy.

I'm getting antsy for my Vanessa to ship but I've heard they are having some paperwork delays and so I haven't received any shipping notification. Not sure if anyone else has heard anything.

    13. @lunar-dream304 Congratulations!! I'm so glad you were able to get her and thank you for sharing a photo! She is so lovely :love I'm glad she wasn't damaged! I know her fingers are rather thick, but you'd think they'd still wrap them for extra safety. :o That wig in pink would be absolutely perfect on her! I like the blonde a lot too

@Dybbuk So much for shipping in late September! Hopefully soon though. I'm crossing my fingers for all the lottery winners to get their shipping notices soon!

    14. @lunar-dream304 Thank you for sharing! She is prettier than in Volks photos! I like that wig too. Congrats!
I was told they will start shipping this week. So not too long to wait. :)

    15. Jumping in a little late to the party, but I'm also waiting on a Vanessa from the lottery! No shipping notice here yet either, though I do think they're a little delayed at least based on some slower replies to an unrelated question I reached out to them on last week.

I ordered my girl some outfits from Volks Japan a few days after I received the lottery results and joked with my partner that it would be funny if they arrived before she did... apparently joke's on me as that package should be here any day now!

Hi all! Don't think I've ever posted on here.
I won a DearSD SWD Mimi through a friend of mine overseas recently and received her last week.
This is a quick, noisy snap of her:blush
I have a Mimi that I won myself through Volks USA a few years ago--I very much have a Mimi problem--and I can't wait to take pix of the two together soon.
This one's name is Violet! Hope you guys like her :celebrate

    17. @CMBato Wow she's gorgeous! :love

Speaking of delivery news, I did just get a note from Volks about delivery being delayed until mid October. Hopefully the time passes quickly!

    18. I just received a notice from Volks that the lottery dolls will be shipped Mid October. Did anyone else receive this?

@bellalupina Ha! I did the same and received my Volks Japan order today. :)
We must have been typing at the same time about the notices.

      @CMBato Violet is very sweet.

    19. Yep same here! :pout: lol but less than a month is still the shortest wait time in the history of dolls so I'll be ok! lol

@CMBato : Thank you for sharing your lovely Violet with us! Mimi looks so adorable on the DSD body!
