Volks DearSD 43cm Discussion Part 2

Yeah, it definitely seems like there are a few sitting on Y!J (Anna more so than Elsa) which surprised me.

I haven’t had much of a chance to take good photos of mine but I like them very much! My DearSD Aya (Tess) has taken over Anna’s dress (my Anna is becoming a character of mine named Akaya) and so she looks very much like an unimpressed lady in waiting for Princess Elsa

 

yes I think the SD’s were much more popular. I really liked them too. But I didn’t have the funds so I just get to live vicariously through others.

mom sorry your downsizing. (I’m supposed to be too.) she expressed wanting Elsa and I liked Anna so I kind of wanted to get them and give her Elsa, since she calls me her little sister and we are very far apart from each other now. I don’t have the funds to entertain the idea but I wanted to look at pics and get ideas. You know for the future. Lol

 

Nao/Nayu are not my personal doll taste, but man they're cute. I'm so glad they exist.

I don't have a DearSD, but I'm keeping an eye out! Some of the more recent standard model heads look even better on DSD than the standard bodies.

 

I had the same reaction. After being disappointed with the SDGr version* after waiting so long for the reveal, I entered for Dear SD Elsa on a stupid whim and immediately regretted it because "big baby" (this is what this aesthetic is called now right ?) or very child-like looking dolls really aren't my cup of tea.

Surprise, surprise. I won, so I planned to rehome her the moment she arrived. I opened the box and it was basically, an instant "Oh, oh crap..." moment. It was quite the contrast because my previous two Volks box openings were really so meh for me I put the dolls back in the box and haven't looked at them since lol.

But Elsa!!! She's so freakin adorable was instantly part of my doll family. Not going anywhere! I can't help it. I love Elsa and the sculpt really has both Volks and Elsa vibes. I also tried the head on an SD size body and it doesn't look any more out of place than any other big-eyed Volks SDs so . That being said, the DearSD body is pretty cute too. Definitely reminds me of the animator dolls from Disney but fancier. I still haven't seen too many pics of these girls around yet though and they're sooooooo cute!!


*(Have since bought the SDGr version because owner pics have convinced me she needs a big sister...)

 

@Turynn Oh she is just the cutest in those cat ears! I think these two girls are even better in person because I had that same reaction when I opened them both up, in my case when I opened Anna up first I had that open mouth gasp going on and just knew Elsa wouldn't disappoint too. I had a feeling when owner photos started showing up (like yours for example), I'd SO regret not buying them. I also just love the fact that they can both wear SD sized wigs, it's such a nice feeling knowing they can wear what I already have a lot of in that department. These two are definitely keepers

Room for one more...

 

I have another DearSD to add here~ I actually received her several months ago, but it was right before I was scheduled to move into my new apartment, so I didn't get to do any pictures until recent. I added a DSD Una to my little crew! Although I can't compete with your awesome crew collection @SaltedPretzel !

I named her Powder because she is so delicate and blushy. So lovely!


Also I had to redo my poor little Vanessa's faceup because my mom accidentally sprayed her with Windex on accident Preview of her faceup... now she must dry and restyle her soon~

Has anyone tried American Girl/Our Generation sized clothing on DSD bodies?

 

@nintendallie Yes, I've tried American Girl. They swim in American Girls clothes, unfortunately. American girls dolls are a lot wider and more robust than DearSDs.

 

Bummer, I've been collecting AG for ages so I have lots of cute clothes. I was hoping it would be a close match!

 

I have the occasional My Life As (Walmart 18 inch) success but usually for stuff that’s meant to be oversized like pajamas. If you’re willing to do alterations, the newer Disney 18 inch stuff in stores would be easier to modify down because they’re slimmer than American Girl or Our Generation.

I collect 18 inch dolls too! Prop sharing can be pretty cute. My DearSD look super cute with Mary Ellen’s turquoise sofa + pull out couch bed, I bought it for sleepover displays/photostories. Also Kit’s Rolltop Desk is very cute, but I generally have to put a cushion on the seat for a height boost.

 

My Coco is here and OMG she's absolutely perfect and I now understand the DSD hype.

 

Ugh I loveee actual mini super dollfies. They're so cute. Theyre just as detailed and beutiful as the larger ones but made to look chubby and cute. I wonder how heavy they are though?? Are these very heavy?

 

She's quite solid! Thick and huggable too
