1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Volks Dollfie Dream Mini discussion part 1

Apr 4, 2007

    1. Oh ok thank you for replying :D@hihihellokitty

    2. I had seen DD a while back on the ABC forum and had to inquiry about who she was. I was intrigued. Now I am researching. I have learned that there is a mini which I am very interested in. That they are not resin but are vinyl (is this true)? That they are not strung like the ordinary BJD's. And that you have to purchase the body and head separately. They are available on the Volks USA site. What else can I learn about them? How well do they articulate?

    3. The mini dd have plastic skeleton inside. Some were sold as fullest character releases, full doll with outfitabd wig. The earlier mdd release had issues with loose knees but I think Volks has fixed since.

Since they are vinyl you need to be carefully ith dark wigs and clothes staining

    4. Thank you areeElf for the info. They are so adorable.

    5. They are releasing mdd version 3 body in the upcoming May Dolpa. Curious what the improvements are.

    6. My first guess would be the same things they did to the DD2 to DD3 and possibly the DDS: new upper chest skeleton part, new elbow joints, new neck piece, and of course new vinyls to go with the new joinery.
What else did they do to those?

    7. Has there been any WS MDD??? I'm planning to get my first MDD, but I really fell in love with the WS body after my first WS DD arrived :)

    8. Just those two demonbane girls (Etheldreda and Al Azif), other than that I don't believe there has ever been any after them.

    9. Thanks, Rubyconcream. I really like Al Azif ... but don't think I'll be able to find one that easily :(

    10. Oh wow! I didn't realize there was a discussion thread for these, I thought they were off topic.

I'm just waiting for my MDD to come home, she is second hand and has the default 3 head, I also have a 004 head coming too!

    11. MDD were grandfathered in so no they are not off-topic. Congrats on your incomings.

    12. Ah, so there's only those two as white skin?

I'm looking either to get parts, or cirno..
      I can't decide!

    13. Yup only those two ><
There is a custom white MDD being sold on the Flickr Dollfie Dream group though:

(she has a body from one of the demonbane girls :P)

Cirno is quite the cutie! However only way to get her is the aftermarket T^T
If you would want less of a wait and less pricey route, I would make a custom and get a nice face-up done by an artist who specializes in DD (such as hikaru, he does amazing work!)

    14. I thought I'd stop in and introduce Tamayuki.

He is such an absolute darling that I can hardly stand it most of the time. Poor guy has been waiting to get his face finished since I got him in February but he should have it finished by the end of the summer. I'm so happy to see other MDDs!

    15. Your little boy is just adorable and honestly, he doesn't even need a faceup. He is sweet as can be without one.

    16. Thank you very much Laurmann!

The only thing I don't like about that photo is without any other darker definition around his eyes and no eyebrows, it makes him look severely bug-eyed. That's partially my fault though too because I guessed wrong on the size of eyes to get him, but now I wouldn't change it even though it's a bit of a challenge at times to photograph him.

Here is a better view of his face and you can see the very minimal amount of white that shows on his eyes.

I really adore the glass eyes and how much depth they give him but they don't have that 'follow you around' feeling like some do.

    17. Yes, I see that his eye size is big but I really like it on him. It gives him a very young, innocent look. I can't wait to see what you do with his faceup. Are you going to do it yourself?

    18. I have a EB Mini from Volks that I did the eyes for (and need to redo because they aren't quite right) to see how well I would do at painting doll faces. With practice I'm sure I'd improve, but I often think my time and patience would be better spent doing something else that I'm better at, like sewing.

At the moment I'm trying to consider what options I have for a decent summer job after my college finals are over with in three weeks. There is someone I know of that does faceups that I really want to send him to, but I need to get the funds together first before I can talk to them about it. I'll be glad to see him with eyebrows though because I want him to have a happy/curious/thinking expression so a lot of people don't think he's sad all the time because he rarely is.

Oh, and he wanted me to point out that he's in 7th grade, he's just small for his age.

    19. Here's my little Médée in the Volks Petitle Strawberry outfit out in the garden.
