1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Volks Dollfie Dream Mini discussion part 1

Apr 4, 2007

    1. Does anyone know what resin or vinyl matches DD White skin? I realized after I bought a DDH-01 head that Volks doesn't sell white skin MDD!

    2. I forgot to post pics of Tamayuki now that his faceup is complete (6 months after he arrived...)

It was a lot of work to get his face right, but I'm so pleased by the blushing. His entire face was blushed before it was painted and looks almost like porcelain in sunlight. It wasn't intentionally a DD and BJD style cross, it just happens to be what I could do. I love him so much and he's just perfect!

Yukamina: I really wish I could help you but all I know is that Volks had a limited MDD WS at some point but it is not easy to get a hold of at all. I hope Volks corrects this eventually when the V. 3 of the bodies are released. Also Obitsu White Skin is not a match since it is almost identical to Volk's normal skin.

    3. Is it possible to buy clothes that fit MDD dolls not from Volks? If so, what size are they considered to be? I apologize if this is a very silly question, but I'm very new to BJD's....

    4. I think a general rule is clothes that fit Mini Super Dollfie also fit MDD since they should be 1/4 scale (DD are 1/3 scale, just for reference).

For example, this pink coat on Alice's Collections is available in 1/3 SD size, 1/4 MSD size, and 70cm (sized resin dolls). Often you have to look around a bit for what MSD/MDD sized clothing is offered in different stores, but it's not to hard to find once you understand the size comparisons. If you find ones that you like, don't forget to bookmark it so you know where to find it later. If I didn't do this i'd never remember my way around the mass of BJD/DD/MDD stores.

Don't feel bad about no knowing though, it confused me for quite some time.

Anyone who has more experience in this, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I've sewn most of Tamayuki's clothes, but his one Volks shirt I have was a MSD size.

    5. Thank you very much! Is this the same rule for option parts?

    6. Most other MSD sized BJDs are solid resin bodies with elastic bands holding their parts together, unlike the MDD which has vinyl over an internal skeleton. Marrying resin and vinyl parts together, while not impossible, can be an arduous task. There are a few Obitsu vinyl parts from their 50cm bodies that fit on the MDD frame (busts, torsos), but most of the internal parts and the external parts of the extremities (arms and legs) are very different in size and therefore largely incompatible.

It is safest to stick with the option parts shown specifically for the MDD body. Unfortunately these parts are limited to several different hands and three bust sizes.

    7. I am almost a week away from owning my own MDD. Soon I will be joining this legion of cuteness.

question: I have a the 01 head. Should I make my MDD be an anime character or an OC? If anime character should I try making Skuld from Oh my Goddess or Konata OR Akira from Lucky Star??

    8. My hybrid. Her name is Plum. I had bought her head in the MP. I love the DD for their whimsical appeal. However, I don't have a body for her yet. She is the H01 head and is on a resin MSD size body. My New Years resolution is to get her an appropriate body.

    9. im seriously considering MDD now they are so darn cute!! :D i wonder what a obitsu gretel head would look like on a MDD body. i ask because i have a gretel head i got about 2 months ago and im debating on her body :)

    10. Yay! My MDD with DDH-01 head is all together! Introducing Nana!

Also Mz.Spade. I can get a picture of the MDD Body with a Gretel head for you. I have both.

    11. This is probably old news to many of you, but I just got on the Volks USA site for the first time in a few months and I just saw their adorable new MDD sculpt (Rena). If I had the money I would go out and get her right away. She is so adorable!

I also have a question. Is the DD sister taller than the mini or are they about the same size?

    12. There is a significant height difference between the MDD and the DDS.

The DDS is just barely shorter than the DD.

    13. Also Rena is the same sculpt as standard head HDD-01, just painted with an open mouth. That sculpt makes a really cute MDD! Good luck saving for her :)

    14. I am so tempted to purchase Rena! She is so cute and adorable! :love

I almost forgot that I haven't posted a pic of my new little girl Bree (Haruka Amami sculpt). She totally cracks me up because she is so odd. If she could be an animal she would probably be a magpie. She is a hoarder of things, but never seems to notice when their rightful owners take them back.

    16. Oh wow Sister Kyoya she is so adorable.
Makes me want to get a MDD body for my Haruka..
Or just an MDD in general, hopefully one day I'll manage to find Kud.

    17. Everyone is sooo cute, makes me regret selling my MDD a couple of years ago. Now I need to get another. Keep the pictures coming while I wait for my money tree to bloom. :)

    18. It is honestly better that you can get the MDDIII. I have the MDD body and I can't wait to give Tamayuki an upgrade. I regularly get frustrated with the poorly designed MDD joints that seem to refuse to stay firm. I so wish I had more time for photos but college has taken over everything.:(

Bree may get an Obitsu 40cm body if it is even slightly shorter than the MDD. She may be a bit hard to settle on a body because her character is supposed to be small, but I can't really shrink her head to make her the ideal size.

Tamayuki on the other hand is flat out determined that he will be the only MDD boy in the house and he keeps hinting that there better not be hardly any MDD girls either. He seems to only have made that exception because his current body will have to go somewhere, but if it were up to him entirely there would be NO other MDD. He's got his cuteness racket on my heart and doesn't want anyone taking it away. Whenever I think of another boy doll his age, he finds any reason to convince me that they have to be an Obitsu 45cm, and how the MDD body is not right for them. With his face, how can I tell him he's wrong?;)

    19. I am so happy that Rainie is finally done. Here is the first pic I took of her that shows the amazing job that Anouc did. She made her just totally perfect. :aheartbea

OMG it's Rainie by Sister Kyoya, on Flickr

She has been so long in process that I can hardly believe that there isn't anything major left to do. 13 months on this girl who's head originally came when I ordered Tamayuki. I'm considering the possibility of making her a new wig of the same style with more red in it. She was supposed to be more of a redhead, not blond. :sweat I'm also tired of the wig cap showing most of the time. :doh
