1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Volks Dollfie Dream Mini discussion part 1

Apr 4, 2007

    1. Oh I never thought about asking volks about the problem!

I hope you get an answer that is useful. Please do post here when you get a reply ~

    2. I posted a lot about this in the MDD thread but I'll say again here.

My MDD Mirai was very floppy when I got her and she couldn't stand at all. I took her apart and tightened her screws and her right leg is fine now, works really well and is sturdy. Her left leg is a different story.

Her left hip and knee is still loose now. She cannot bare weight on her left leg at all, she can't even hold it straight. The knee joint screw will not screw in right, it screws to a certain point, then it just spins in the hole.

I'd love to hear if volks have anything to say about it. I nerver thought of emailing them.

    3. I'll let you know what they say ^_^

    4. Sounds like you might have overtightened and the screw has nothing to grip onto.

anji: I hope your problem gets fixed. Did you get the doll directly from volks or second hand. Volks does have seven day warranty on newly shipped dolls directly from them. If you got it second hand it may be a paying issue.

    5. I don't think so because its been like this since almost the day I got her. Her left leg has been worse then her right leg since day one. I tightened the other screws in the same way with the same screwdriver. Her other leg is fine and is stable now, but her left leg has hardly ever been able to tighten properly.

When I first tightened the left leg it was not as stable as the right leg and was still floppy, but it did support her weigh with delicate balancing. It lasted for about a day or two and then I noticed her leg just limp again. Its been loose ever since and cannot be tightened.

Also as I said, she has the problem and is totally loose at her left hip too, and thats not an area I can even do anything with so I couldn't have broken her.

I think it probably is a problem within the plastic skeleton part, but I know it wasn't me that caused it.

    6. If you had this moved to the Customizing and Esthetics subforum, you'd probably get a lot more replies and help/information. :)

    7. Maybe there is something wrong with the screw itself. Does it still look intact?

And if that's not the problem, it could be the screw is too small.

    8. The screw is fine, they are all fine. The screws will work in the right leg but not the left.

    9. Than... It could be the hole too! Is the hole bigger or does it look bad?

    10. Hi!
Yup directly from volks ^_^; I took care of the stickiness, but the leg won't go back in O_O Still waiting on a response, but i'll definitly let you guys know what they say!

    11. I actually originally had this in the buying, shipping, advice section, the mods moved it here @_@

    12. Since the bodies are currently for sale, I've decided to un-stalk and pop in a question. Do the regular optional DD heads (DD-1, DD-2, etc) fit on the MDD body? Cause that would be plain awesome.

    13. The 60cm dollfie dream heads do fit on the mdd body. The neck hole is a bit bigger then the mdd neck, but it doesn't look too bad in my opinion.

Someone posted pictures of it before, you could try find them. I can't do it myself since head swapping is really awkward for me (its a long story).

    14. Which part of the leg won't go back in? is it the calf to the leg joint? I had the same issue the dolly doctor had to use a pair of hemostats to hold the thigh skeleton part while putting in the calf skeleton part into it.

I have the same problem with my girl's knee so I ended up unscrewing the knee and wedging a kip disk in and then rescrew. The skeleton at that pointdoesn't disassemble I had to lif he part just enough to wedge that kip in. I also tucked a kip to her loose hip joint and that seems to have worked. SO I ended up Kipping both knees and one hip. I found with these girls once the skeleton gets pulled out of socket it's never the same tightness

Here's a photo of the kipped knee
      [IMG]

The kip adds more friction so the joint moves but does not buckle so the knee stays posed. The kip in the hip just keep it from being loose

    15. wow that's soo interesting, i never thought of using kips on DDs. Could you explain how you put the kips in the hip? thanks for sharing!!

    16. Well I got a notice back from volks! They want pics, and then they'll decided from there. I'm debating trying to fix it myself, since I doubt a new body is going to change things ^_^

    17. I have the same problem with my MDD. Very loose joints. What are kips? I don't remember reading about them anywhere.

      Thanks,
      SFC marti

    18. More questions! Does anyone have a minifee that they can do a little comparing with, or head swapping? I was planning on getting a mnf body for my girl but those MDD boobays suit her more than the "mnf push-ups" :sweat

    19. What is a kip, how much are they and where can I get them?

    20. http://www.volksusa.com/kips.html

They're Volks' "keep it posed system" which are sort of silicone washers that go in the joints of BJDs (kind of like.... free floating rubber insta-sueding XD), they have them on the international site as well.

Though you can probably also buy a rubber drawer liner or placemat and cut it into pieces, these ones have the advantage of being already in the right washer shape and being clear (well, it's maybe less important when it's tucked in the skeleton of a DD body) and they're not really all that expensive.
