1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. Oh, Anthony, you *have* to get him!!! :D My fingers *and* toes are crossed for you!!!

    2. Oh man I know you emailed before I did, so if you are on the cut off there is no chance in heck for me. :...(

I wish I'd sent them email from my yahoo account and not work email. I'll be in suspense until tomorrow morning. Ugh.

    3. So...I've never done this before...when is the lottery? I assume before the AE on the Volks USA site?

    4. Thank you Sweetie.... I'm so very happy that at least you got him though;)... But yeah, Keep me in your prayers and keep those Fingers & Toes Crossed:sweat

    5. The AE starts on the 4th of May. Applications for the limited items will be accepted from May 4th at 11:00am PST until May 7th at 11:00am PST. You have to go to this link and at the top is "Dolpa 17 Lottery Entry" which will take you to another page that explains what to do. The entry for the lottery won't begin till the 4th, so the link doesn't work. I hope this explains some of what you need.

    6. thanks! I wasn't sure of the dates XD

    7. I'm sorry, but is anyone else finding it in EXTREMELY bad taste that Kerbey Lane Dolls is letting three of their six allocated Reisners go to employees of their own shop? And that these employees were presumably allowed be at the very front of the list?

    8. :sweat Er... Not really. They work at a dollshop. If they worked at a game shop, they'd have first picks of the games. Bookstore? Ditto. I figure it would be one of the really nice perks of working for a dollshop.

I thought Rochelle was being very forthright in even mentioning exactly how the dolls were apportioned. She didn't have to mention those three internal dolls at all.

I know I got lucky this time, but I've lost out on items because of this in the past, so I'd like to think I'm pretty open minded about it.

    9. ...At least you've got another chance to have his gorgeous boy than AE and auctions ! :...(

    10. Games and books are not highly limited items. You are trying to compare apples and oranges.

The last I heard, when it comes to any sort of extremely limited or sought-after items (Beanie Babies anyone?), it was common business practice that employees were NOT allowed to buy them.

Anyways, I personally DO find it to be very bad business practice. Does Volks itself allow employees to have first dibs at limited items? I seem to recall reading *somewhere* that they were not allowed to.

    11. I gotta go with Kurosakura on this one. When I worked at Borders we had first dibs at books and then the books were re-ordered. Same with CDs. You can't re-order the dolls as they are much more limited. I mean we'd get certain boxsets and electronics that would take months to come in at Borders, but they were always restocked eventually, you know? Dolls aren't. On the other hand all the promotional posters and things for events - totally snapped up by employees, customers never got dibs. :sweat

*edit* Just got confirmation from WLD that there is no way in hell I'm getting Reisner. I emailed on the 16 I think. So yeah. Can't say I'm not horribly disappointed.

    12. I have a question...I've never heard of We Love Dolls, or Kerby Lane, or whatever else people are using for methods of pre-order. :sweat Where do I find info on these places? I know it's too late for Reisner now, but I had decided to pass on the Volks lottery & AE because I wasn't going to be able to come up with all the money at once, but these places take layaway?

Guess I need to pay better attention, I would've tried for one on layaway in a heartbeat, but I'll be waiting until after NYC Dolpa now to snag one on Yahoo!Japan instead. :sweat :sweat :sweat

    13. I'm really disappointed, and I can understand WLD, holding back one and having the employees enter something like a seperate lottery for it, but not 50% of what they get. They're a dollstore and they have customers who they should try to please. Yes, the employees do have social ties with the store and owner, but I do find it a bitter pill to have three automatically taken off the list.

    14. Rochelle from Kerbey Lane has sent out an email that she's let two out of three 'employee' Reisners go to people on the list. Probably due to the fact I did send her a complaint about it.

So I hope #7 and #8 are grateful. *winks* But that still leaves me (#9) out of luck.

At least there is the lottery still.

    15. I remember talking to the employees at Volks about his very thing.
Volks employees are NOT allowed to buy limiteds before they are released.

This would be a good debate topic, IMO.

    16. Good suggestion, maybe that is what Rochelle decided to do.

    17. Does anyone know when the dolpa lottery winners will be announced?

    18. I don't know if there is enough there to support a full debate topic, but it certainly is something to think about!

Should official retailers be required to follow the same business rules as the production company? They are representatives of that company after all.

I'm actually wondering if there was anything about that in the contract that is signed. Its interesting to think about.

And silversfall, I believe its May 14th when lotto winners are announced. :)

    19. The Volks lottery hasn't even been started yet - that begins tomorrow for VolksUSA people. Winners for that are scheduled to be announced May 15th I believe.

If you are trying to order through We Love Dolls or Kerbey Lane - I believe they sent out notices yesterday and today. If you haven't heard from them I'm betting it's safe to assume you didn't win, though email to make sure.

    20. They both have websites, but you can always check the VolksUSA page to see who the authorized Volks dealers in the US are and get basic contact information: http://volksusa.com/info.html

For future dollpas, it's generally true that if VolksUSA knows they'll get to release something (say, they announce it in Toppi's blog), the other authorized Volks retailers are likely to get a shot at it as well. Both of these retailers currently operate on a first-come-first-served basis (as opposed to the VolksUSA lottery system), so whoever contacts them first for a doll gets first dibs. They also tend to get dolls in very limited quantities (which has caused much of the angst on this thread at the moment).

You may wish to e-mail each of them now and ask to be added to their e-mailing lists.

The contact ladies at each of these places (Debra at We Love Dolls and Rochelle at Kerbey Lane) are ardent doll fans who love these dolls as much as we do. They're quite knowledgeable and will do the best they can, but they only get so many of each doll, and it's never enough to completely fill their orders.

      Good luck!!!
