Volks Dolpa SD17 Reisner Discussion

Wishing everyone luck today....and praying that Volks has a Reisner for each of us!

 

Since this has been cause for discussion I've decided to state our policy at Kerbey Lane. This is not directed at anyone in particular and not said in any anger,etc.

We have been an authorized Volks dealer for almost a year. I worked a long time to get it and I do 100% of all the work involved with these orders - corresp, packing,shipping, collecting funds,etc -it's alot of work but I love it. I also manage our shop on a daily basis and do 90% of the doll ordering for the entire shop. We are not a large shop,in a 3 room old cottage type house,but cram alot of different companies into it. Volks is the only jointed doll we can sell and do sell and are honored to be a US Volks Distributor.
The owner of the shop strongly believes her employees should be able to purchase whatever doll comes into the shop, It is a generous perk added to not high paying salaries and we have only 3 employees - 2 are doll collectors and I am by far the biggest collector. With this perk comes responsibilities & guidelines - 1) we cannot abuse it 2)we cannot buy for friends & releatives 3)we cannot buy for the sole purpose of selling on secondary market-it has to be something we really want 4) our name must go on the list once we begin taking orders, it cannot be added after confirmations come through. To sell it at a later date is fine, but not at the time of purchase. The owner trusts us and we have yet to give her a reason not to.
There has never been a time that I have not been honest in dealing with anyone and I made a judgment error by saying 3 Reisner's were allocated to emplyees - I used the word allocated because it was not a done deal. In fact when I sent out confirmations I wrote #7 & 8 on the list that the possiblility was very strong they would get their doll and they would know in the morning. Our other employee put her name on the list right away,the owner did when I sent in the orders but she IS the owner and she pays for these dolls. I was surprised because our owner never buys any of the dolls for herself but always hopes to get one for the shop. When the owner found out we only had confirmations for 6 Reisners she immediately withdrew her name. The other employee became hesitant because of the price and by our own store rules I removed her because she could not even consider reselling once she got him & changed her mind - so the final 2 were scooped up by # 7 & 8 on the list.
Our employee has purchased several outfits but only 1 doll since we've been selling Volks. If there is a doll I just love I usually apply for 1 doll from each offering and and a couple of outfits. If there is only one of a popular outfit confirmed it almost always goes to a customer. My job is to make the shop money, it's not to hog every Volks item that comes out, besides I couldn't afford it. The dolls I do buy are used in the doll shop daily for display & that's how I get many names for our mailing list and introduce people to Volks. If you work in a doll shop one should love dolls and be proud to own them; & people love that I collect. If you work at any retail shop there is normally a "perk" in being able to buy items - if not one should not work in retail . I work at a doll shop because I LOVE it - love what we sell, what I do as a buyer, and have the best boss ever - this is all a blessing for which I'm very grateful. I also get to meet soooooooooo many super people.
I am sorry that we cannot fill everyone's order and you all have no idea how painful it is for me to do confirmations. We try to be fair in taking names-we ask that no one email before I send out notice about incoming dolls which is after Volks sends me notification. This was the owner's idea so we definitely know we are able to get items and that everyone has the same equal chance at emailing,she prefers not to do a lottery system at this time. I truly wish Volks would have confirmed 30 Reisner,Luna,Kurumi, etc - we could have sold every one. But it is a miracle at all for any of us to be able to get ltd ed Volks dolls. When I began collecting them 5 1/2 yrs ago I paid a Japanese service for my dolls and wigs.
I will not post again about this on the board,have taken up enough time and the subject should be a dead one IMO. This board is about sharing the love of our dolls.

I'm now hoping to Score Lin through the Volks Lottery.... Gosh I've fallen for that little girl. She is GORGEOUS in the owner pics .... But I got my Number 1 choice so I am breathing a little easier.... 1 down 1 to go

It happens after every Dolpa or event. I'm actually kinda glad for it (unless they have super high scalper starting bids ), I wouldn't have been able to get my Scarface otherwise!
