Volks fetish? (I hope nobody is offended by this)

Aug 25, 2004

    1. I like dolls from lots of different companies, and all for different reasons.
      Dream of Doll, however, has a special place in my heart, because my first (and favorite) boy is a DOD Zen. :daisy

    2. I really don't have a favorite company. I think there are dolls I like and don't like made by each one out there. XD I like CP a lot though because of the way their boy dolls look. *drools*

      Dream of Doll, too, I like very much because of the beautiful faceup they did on my doll and the color of his resin. I've compared it to dolls from CP and Volks and his skin is still the most beautiful shade to me.

    3. Volks all the way :D but it seems i only like the boys and the onlyfemale sculpts (other than 2-3) i think make way better boys!

    4. There are very few headmolds I like from Volks, but thats it. In general, I have no favourite really. I'm just really interested in all of the companies dolls because... I've really started to like BJDs. I think this whole thing is very facinating.
      My secret plan is to one day have at least one doll from every company *snerk* I wonder if I'll ever be that rich...
      Actually, I admit that I don't understand why some people only stick to one company, but that's just me.

    5. Part of it for me is that I want my dolls to all look fabulous together, look like they belong together. And I think keeping within one company pretty much guaruntees this. With CP, my favorite company, you can tell that all the dolls are CP by looking at them, there is something stylistically similar about them which I think makes them all work well together. For example, I love Dollstown Estella, but I don't think she really has a place in my family because her look is so different. If I got her, I'd probably deal with her separate from my other dolls because she just wouldn't look quite right with them in my opinion. However, I can also see how someone would want just one doll from each company and therefore have a bunch of different styles of dolls, I think it comes down to how you feel about displaying and photographing them together.

    6. I'm a bit of a Volks-whore ... I think some of the other companies' dolls are pretty, but I'd probably never buy them. Part of it is that I already have a queue of 3 dolls I want (all Volks--and I think it helps that I prefer the girls to boys as far as availability) and I don't think I need too many more dolls than that (plus the two I have now). I don't think I'd like my dolls being in a different scale or having vastly different measurements. (I want them to be able to share things.) And I love Volks's posability and customer philosophy/service.

      It's just personal preference.

    7. That's me, word for word baby! I have Soo and Shiwoo now, plan to get El for Christmas, and possibly a DES early next year. Although thanks now to Christy and Fyredancer (shakes fist :wink: ) I'm feeling the need for a Bermann, so I may eventually have to stray from my Love o' Luts!

    8. I own a variety of dolls from different companies and after having Volks, I must say, I probably will never want another doll that isn't Volks. They've totally stolen my heart - and money! :lol:

      Having said that, I still find myself enchanted with the Korean doll makers as well. I love that there are so many choices now.

    9. Let's see: DoD
      Dollshe
      Volks
      Cerebus Project via Luts #
      Rainy Doll *
      Dollmore *
      Alchemic Labo on the way.

      * both sculpts by Rainman
      # not a sculpt by Rainman ;)

      I'd honestly buy again from each of the companies whose dolls I own (oh, bermannn), and from plenty of other companies, too, with enough money & space, but not all the dolls from each company; there are dolls I do not care for in Every line.

      So, I guess I'm a generalist in my companies; certainly not a specialist.

    10. Well, even though the doll I'm buying is from Souldoll....

      I love the idea of the Volks FCS, but I really dislike most of the headmolds :oops:

      The COMPANY I think I like best (not from experience, but from what I've heard) would have to be DOD, but my absolute favorite dolls are U-noas. Those are some GORGEOUS dolls. If I ever had the money, I would buy an U-noa, but I don't know that I can justify that much money on one doll.

    11. No fetish though so far I have only bought Korean (Serendipity and Rainman).

      But if I had unlimited money I would like Unoa sisters, a Soulkid, a Bermann and a Hound, a Volks or two, a Hypermaniac though Ksy was my fave, a Dollstown girl, and more.

      I do seem to have a preference for teen-shape dolls rather than children.

    12. Hmm.... in general I am fairly partial to Volks, but they have made sculpts I don't care much for as well as the ones that I love. And I certainly would not rule out buying a doll from another company as well, if it struck me as particularly attractive.

    13. I love Volks, all the way. They just have the style I love.

    14. Well for MSD sized dolls, I'd have to say Dream of Doll :D
      But for bigger dolls, I'd have to say Volks :grin:

    15. I do have a fetish for Souldoll.

      Definitely. I feel sort of married to this company. It's an odd feeling.

      But Planned Dollie, Mister Fontenrose, is tentatively scheduled to be Volks, perhaps a Syo or a FCS new F-13...

      And I have fallen pretty severely for Isao (Karisu, your handsome Isao made a deep impression on Caro!!)...I can feel my dangerous brain snorfling around for...maybe...just maybe? NO NO NO Not Allowed Mr F is last dollie no more dollies...

      <eBay keyword: isao>

      NO NO NO!!! STOP STOP!!!

      <sigh>

    16. The dolls that I admire the most for their beauty are Cerebus Project, Custom House, and Rainy dolls... However, I ended up with a Nono, the exact opposite of what I usually prefer. I didn't pick her for her beauty, it was her personality that won me over.

      I'm attracted to the odder looking dolls, even though I don't think they are that estetically pleasing... Belladonna, Estella, Yomo, Nono, Shinsiya, Estella, Calvin.
      I'm also attracted to realistic and detailed body sculpts, which is why I love CP. I'm often more attracted to bodies than I am faces.. hehe.

    17. When I first got into BJDs, I had a Volks fetish. I really really wanted a Volks doll. But now they don't really do anything for me; my "fetish" is now CP.

    18. Definately I love alchemic labo UNOA best. Because of her small size, lightness and posing, amazing detail and aura!! and stunning body sculpt. I am in love with unoa (though not the unoa lite). I have the two girls, and I have the two boys on order and hope to one day win a White unoa. I do wish he would come out with more regular open eye girls however and offer the white as an option! so I don't have to pay with my soul for one.

      Unoa is a whole different vibe then any other doll out there though so can't be compared to other companies as his work is so focused.

      Volks has so much selection and we can count on new molds coming out which is exciting. I have 5 dolls from volks and my unoa so clearly I love volks.

      I did try CP and DOD and Custom house and they all passed out of my hands quickly because I could not bond with them!

      SO Volks as a large production company is no 1 in my book. And as a small one Unoa rules. But I would buy a good head from another company if it could go on a volks body and i loved the head. I keep an open mind and love seeing the molds from different companies.

      :wink:

    19. Ok I have TWO favorite companies!! DoD for minis, and CP for standard size. CP was the second company I ever saw (Volks being the first) and I've loved them ever since! For me it's mainly the faces and their GORGEOUS hands. Oh my god I love CP hands. lol And their boy bodies...love those too. lol

    20. *waves the Custom House flag* My first love was Prince Cinderella, but due to a order mistake on Domuya's part, I never got him :( even though I ordered him. Ever since then I've adored Custom House. Thats when I instead got my CH Bin, Rolf. I LOVE him. He's my first BJD and I will always cherish him. I've tried getting other companies for smaller dolls (Dream of Doll) but I never bonded, so they both ended up being sold. Instead, I got my lucky paws on Custom House's Unique Suntanned Jupiter! I AM SO IN LOVE!! I was telling my friend Tasu about it today, that everytime I look at Sen my heart melts. He is the sweetest mini I will ever own. I even sleep with him!!

      I also like CP, but not as much as CustomHouse. I'll be getting an El head in about five weeks, so we'll see how that goes :D

      But yeah, Custom House. Woo~! :D
