1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Volks is coming to Los Angeles, CA

May 27, 2005

    1. Somehow I don't think that will be a problem since it will cause bunches of us to have a collective bout of apoplexy upon learning the news.

    2. I am positive that this will happen...

    3. I don't see why that wouldn't happen ^^ The we still might get hit with the shipping charges of whoa if the parts are still made and assembled in Japan...

    4. I meant that I am positive somebody would make a post of that nature...I sure hope that they do FCS in the USA....

    5. Hopefully Sato FCS, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm not interested in the same F-16 everyone else gets, lol. I want my F-24 boy!

    6. I'm hoping for Sato, too! It would actually kind of make sense, in my own mind. ^^;

    7. I'd love to visit the store, but too far away for me.

    8. I would like both FCS because I want an F-16 AND an F-10.

    9. If they don't have FCS here, I will just have to go to Japan. If they do, I shall squander all my savings on one here! Or I would be happy with a Show/Syo!

    10. MWAHA! I said they were coming to LA! XD Sorry, people in other states, especially NY! (since there were a debate of whether or not the store will be in LA or NY)

I hope they have a LE for LA opening. X3

    11. Personally I don´t think they´ll be having FCS, not Sato at least...
They would have started selling it online I think, they trying to preserve the exclusivity.
If they started being mass produced...they would not be so exclusive , hence they prices would lower

    12. ???? Why would they have to put FCS online just because they move the FCS to LA? They wouldn't do that. It would be just like every other Volks store - go down, place your order, wait, go back, pick up your FCS, go home. There's no reason for them to put it online, really.

    13. mayube they will have la exclusives instead XD

they cant have sato - considering its not sato in la!

    14. ...well. FCS isn't exactly exclusive, all one really needs is access to a Tenshi no Sato and cash...and maybe a bit of patience. I don't think opening a Volks store in LA would exactly make them mass produced...ordering online would actually be more public than a store.

    15. come to think of it, the Volks salon in Seoul offers FCS, doesn't it? If so, that makes LA FCS a lot more likely.

    16. my feeling is that in order to be competitive with toy companies here in the US, Volks will have to have something that makes them stand out. FCS will do that.

Because these dolls really are a luxury item, not something that people have to buy to live (well, most people, lol) And with Mattel, Integrity, and all of the other doll companies in the US competing for the high end doll market, Volks will need to have more than just standard kits and their 1/6 dolls available. It is really their services that sell their dolls, the ability to customize them.

So I am going to go out on a limb (and I read the FDQ article last night which is leading me to this feeling) and if the store is to sell their dolls here (and it must be or it wouldn't be on the dollfie site) then they will be offering classes and FCS. And personally, I don't think that FCS over here makes the dolls mass produced, since there are so many different combinations that can be made, with custom make-up, it's creating something special for the buyer.

    17. I just hope they have FCS here so that we in the US can get FCS for cheaper (well, do you think people in the US would charge as much as Domuya? I hope not.. ;.; ).

    18. I am not familiar with Domuya's prices, since I have not gone the FCS route. Besides the obvious shipping charges, do they charge a fee above the price of the doll, and is it rather high?

Do they actually go to Volks and sit and go through the process of choosing everything or do they "phone" in the order?

And I am sure, depending on where the store ends up and if it has FCS, there will be some of us who might help out with the FCS purchasing.

    19. Domuya's fee is very high. (Several hundred dollars, exclusive of shipping).

If Volks offers FCS in the states, it makes sense that it would be comparable to Japanese prices (or within $50) because it is already so, so expensive ($850).

    20. Really that much? My, my, my. Well, if Volks is near where I live, and they have FCS, I will serve my fellow Dollfie lovers and do what I can to assist, for much less than several hundred.

That seems really high, considering from what I read it takes about three hours to go through the paperwork for the FCS, and I would imagine that is for people who do not know what they want.

I guess it has to do with the laws of supply and demand.

Thanks for the info. I will definitely wait on thinking about a FCS doll for myself.
