It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Volks pureskin SD, SD13 leg break

Jan 12, 2006

    1. I haven't heard of it happening with the square knees. The ones being discussed are the newest version of Pureskin SD10 girl knees. There are less instances of this happening with SD13 girls. And for the record;

SD10 girls and Magical Michael have the same legs
SD13 girls and all other Pureskin new knee SD10 boys besides Michael have the same legs

    2. The ones that had 1st edition Shiro knees, square ones? Those where the type of knee of mine that broke. :(

    3. You're saying your Shirou body's knees broke? I have never heard of any SD13 boy legs breaking before. They're not the same as SD10 girl and boy square knees.

    4. None of mine have had any problems, despite getting moved a lot.

    5. Oh, that's sad. :( It is unusual though. The boys aren't prone to breaking in general, and neither is that knee design on any of the dolls. There's enough resin there to take the force of sitting and standing.

While I have heard of at least one knotched kneed doll breaking, the problem really does seem to be in the design and execution of the thinner, more delicate new SD legs and to a lesser extent the SD13 girl legs.

Maybe try contacting volks about buying replacements? Even though they're discontinued it doesn't hurt to at least ask. The worst they can do is say no.

    6. No, sorry. ^^ What I mean is, the square ones like Shiro's?

The knotched knees of mine that broke was on a SD10 Tenshi body. The un-teeth ones... Err, I'm tired. xD Sorry. ^^

    7. Awhh oke that's good to know! I was getting worried!(bought a SD13)

    8. Ah okay, that's what I figured, but had to make sure :sweat

    9. i have 2 pureskin body , one from megu and one from nono.
Megu's body came earlier than nono's and is still in perfect condition.

the happening of the crack is quite mysterious. Nono always wear dress and sit on the sofa. last time i hold her up and try to put on a new dress on her, a small piece came down. It is so strange that i have not even straighten her knee before the piece came down>.<

I am very disappointed with this crack, hope volks can develope a better body later on

    10. Volks did develop a better body, it's the swaricco body, and is used for all SD10 limiteds now. Eventually it will likely be used with FCS and standards and this will no longer be a problem.

    11. Does this mean the SD torso will be phased out? I ~love~ the Volks one piece SD torso.

    12. I don't know about that, but Volks hasn't made a new size single torso doll body in a while, only SD10's and Sei Tenshi have them now. The movement seems to be towards three piece bodies now..:sweat

    13. My old pure skin girl's knee broke off too :(
      Also her butt got chipped

    14. Awwww! :o I'm so sorry this is happening to everyone-makes me want to build my Megu from a head and swarrico body rather then buying her new..:sweat

    15. I've been thinking off and on about replacing my megu's body with the swarrico body..but since volks has started replacing the broken leg pieces, I don't know..for now I might just stick with the body she has (its really cute).

    16. Actually, this has happened to my Link. Since I'm too afraid to use epoxy, he's just kinda, there? XD

    17. I've never heard of this happening before, what made it crack? Is it a fracture like these SD10 ones being reported? You should be able to get a replacement part from Volks if you don't want to fix it yourself.

    18. I had just finished sanding his seams, and I was restringing him and it just broke! It didn't fly across the room or anything, it just kinda moved.

And I would contact Volks, but I've had Ryoki for over 6 months, so I don't really know if they'd replace anything... :sweat And I don't have the money to shell for a new body for him.

    19. Do you have an image of the break? This hasn't happened with my F-15 and he was sanded by Volks, his knees aren't weakened at all from what I can see. Volks will always replace parts as long as you give them the broken part and pay for the new one. Although even if you had only had him 6 days they wouldn't replace a doll who's had esthetics done by the owner for free, they warn owners of this on their esthetics guide page. Good luck getting his leg fixed!

    20. So do these breaks happen a lot? I was thinking of buying a Kun soon, but I'm really worried about this whole leg breaking buesiness. ;_; Due to stuff in my life it'd be a major problem, if I had to get a replacement leg. D: boo *flail*
