1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Volks pureskin SD, SD13 leg break

Jan 12, 2006

    1. Um, except the totally different torsos, I suppose...! :sweat

SD torsos have small breasts and wider waists, and can be jointed or non-jointed. In FCS there is also a larger busted non-jointed SD torso.
SD13 torsos have larger breasts - even if you get a S-busted SD13 - slimmer waists and are always jointed.

    2. It might be worth noting, especially for a relatively new BJD person . . . the head that Volks issued as its SD13 "four sisters" is different from the SD10 "four sisters." This isn't an issue with FCS, of course, because a buyer who wants a classic four sisters will choose the F-01 head with whatever body he/she wants. But if someone were to buy a complete SD13 four sisters on, say, Y!J, without looking carefully at the head . . . it could be a surprise to get the doll home and find that the head isn't the same as the SD10 mold.

    3. Dur, I forgot to mention that. *is a moron* When I said that the only difference was in the legs and arms I meant there was no major size difference, so if they were worried about the legs, getting an SD13 wouldn't be a huge size issue. *smacks self*

Thanks! I was talking about FCS and assuming that it was obvious. :sweat

*goes to make post more intelligible*

    4. You could also get an SD10 girl body with the long legs which would allow you to have the SD10 torso as well. :) Just thought I'd note that. SD10 girls, SD10 boys and SD13 girls all share the same arm and leg types, so SD10 girls can, in FCS, be ordered with the long legs that SD10 boys and SD13 girls come with by default. :)

    5. :( My megu has a crack at the leg joint too...How sad

    6. Does anyone have a newer pureskin girl body like from the Rozen Twins to compare with one of the standard release bodies?

I was playing with a Rozen girl (suiseseki?) and the teeth in her knees seemed less toothy. The knees were easy to unlock and pose, unlike how I recall the normal pureskin SD10 knees to be. Since it's all on memory I was wondering if anyone could cofirm my suspicions that they have indeed redesigned the knees at least for the limited UV cut bodies.

    7. E-mailed volks and this is what they said

      sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

    8. So if you order (or go to) the US volks store in LA they won't replace it?

    9. I bought mine from Japan vols 2 years ago. I guess I will email volks LA to see what they say. :(

    10. I've had my replacement piece for awhile now (a year almost to the day) and its holding up fine. I did mod her legs though, just to be safe..
the replacement part scared me...the resin on the outer knee area was so thin i could almost see through it!
anyways, before stringing her, I used epoxy stuff to thicken the resin in the knee area (on both legs) and I thinned out the lower leg piece, and wore down the knee teeth (also on both legs) so they are a TINY bit loose..but it hasnt effected her standing/posing at all.

Still going to consider a different body though..especially if this one breaks again..which is sad because i love the one piece torso...

    11. Do the legs break on a SD 13? I couldn't find a page all on SD13's...so if somewould give me a link that would be nice too =3 Thank you!:)

    12. nursewitchkomugi, we have only one report of an SD13 girl's leg breaking. I believe it was a Yori. The SD13 girl's legs are a little thin, but no where near as thin as SD10 girls. If you are asking about SD13 boys, then nope, I haven't heard of any knees breaking on them! Dem boys got chunky legs!

    13. Thank you nakitama =D I'm so happy to hear that! ^-^

    14. wow, almost 1 week of emailing volks LA with the problem, they haven't replied. Have I been ignored? >.>

    15. I hope they reply to you D:

    16. :( I guess my Megu has to be glued with epoxy or super glue. :( scarred for life

    17. this is all really strange. I emailed volks and about 4 days later they responded, asked for pictures of the break, and said they'd let me buy a replacement part (not free..sigh, but better than broken).
Sometimes volks can take awhile to respond to emails though.
When I sent them my broken part, it took almost 2 weeks for them to respond.

strange that they won't let people get replacement parts though.
I bought my doll of the japan site and the us store handled my break.

    18. YAYYY, they emailed me at last and yeah, need to pay, but at least the breakage can be fixed. :)

    19. I guess $39 is not to bad for a replacement leg. So that's kind of good. Glad to hear they are helping you finally!! =D

    20. :) ya. will send in my fuyuko in soon. ^_^

So glad to know that they do replace nowadays. :D
