Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXXII

Here's hoping Volks does another release of Regulus and Max down the road for those of us that lost and couldn't get them. I'd love to try for Regulus again and bring him home. Was hoping he'd be my first Volks but I lost both lotteries. So no Volks here for the time being.

 

The Volks lottery system is cruel. I think the vast majority of Volks dolls around here were acquired second hand. But I guess it’s great business for them, because they keep doing it…

 

I really wish that everyone could win. @Selidor, I'm not sure how else it could be done. The click wars is no good imho. At least with a lottery we all do have a chance, but ya, I hate to see anyone miss out.

 

Yeah, business is business...I wish they just did a pre-order for them.

 

They do preorder periods for certain items, usually DDs, so they’re quite capable of doing them. They just prefer lotteries for the SDs. I don’t know if that’s a workload issue, or if that exclusivity is what keeps the demand high.

 

I guess I should have tried both international and VolksUSA lotteries...no Max boy for me. ;-;

 

I get they probably dont want to offer more dolls for US than international to keep it more fair but seeing as US dolls aren't even ready/made yet it seems like the should have been able to fulfill more orders. I'm sorry to everyone who didn't get one. Some of the prices on Y!J weren't too much more expensive than it would have been for the US order which came up to just under $1400. Seen ones for $1450-$1600 on there. There was also a Max for $1400 on Mandarake last night.

 

I think all of the reasonably priced Regulus are gone. The only one I saw was 200000.

 

Pretty sure the dolls are ready but it takes quite some time for them to reach the US (via ship).

 

@Erleuchtung is that what they do? Ship them to the USA store to ship to us? I didn't realize they would ship them by surface mail. No wonder its taking so long then.

The lottery system does suck and you can make the choice not to participate in it. Thankfully we all had an equal chance and the random number generator does not favor anyone. I would hate to see corruption added to an already flawed lottery system.

There will always be times when you get lucky and always be times where it doesn't work out. Being bitter and angry over losing doesn't help anyone and only makes the winners feel guilty. Celebrate others wins as well as your own!

Also congratulations to all the winners! I can't wait until these beautiful boys are all over these forums! And to the losers, let's all pray to Mother SD for a rerelease

 

If it makes you feel any better, I didn't win a Regulus from Volks USA (and I didn't put in for him through Volks Japan, either)

Much as I was excited to see such good-looking SD17 boys, I think Mother SD knew my heart wasn't really in it this time, so...

Throwing in a little doll tax, to distract -- last month I finally finished my project of making my own SD17 Isao, since it was pretty evident Volks wasn't going to make one, lol!

A couple years ago I realized that Hijikata would make a good grown-up Isao. I did his face-up myself, as I wanted it to be simple and similar to my SD13 Isao.

 

I do think that we should celebrate the wins of everyone who won!

But I also think there's no real evidence that the system is actually random. It's possible that the system has a bias toward first-time entrants and to 'big fish' who have spent a lot of money with the company.

As much as I really love many of my Volks dolls, I also think it is clear that the company's practices don't always result in widespread customer satisfaction (Sapphire, for example). I'm really glad that Volks has done preorders lately, especially for the very in-demand dolls like Lieselotte and the Frozen girls. I hope that, as time continues, they will keep offering preorders more and more, so that their dolls are accessible!

 

Time to get writing, I guess. I suppose there's hope that the Dormitory boys will get another round since the previous boys did. I have to poke them again about ZM Spray anyway.

 

I've been pestering them about ZM spray, too. I emailed them in December and they estimated it would be restocked in "first quarter 2022" and assured me that it was not discontinued. Please let us know if you get an update on that, @St. James!

And the order went through. I'm a proud and very happy owner of Volks SD17 Regulus.

 

I'd like to think I'd have won a single lottery by now if they were favoring first timers! I'm still so thankful for that Lieselotte preorder. I would never have won her! We really have no idea how the winners are chosen but I really hope they are doing it fairly.

And yes! These aren't licensed dolls so there's a very good chance of rereleases especially with how much people like them. Asking for a Sapphire rerelease is probably too much but any Volks character feels like fair game for more runs. I'm sure the number of entries will show them how much money they can make by producing more.

At least for the wider LE releases I don't think there's a real rhyme or reason. I've been a Volks owner since 2003, have been to a lot of their in person events, and I have never won a single lottery I have entered with them in 19 years. The only place I have RNG luck is Fate/Grand Order lol
