Yeah, because Rigel and Michelle were special rereleases they specifically said how many were available. It was 50 to honor the 50th anniversary.

They told us the number for Hyde (200) as well but he’d be another special case. It would be interesting to know, but yeah, might make things more cut throat in the end.

 

I know I'm crazy for thinking logically about a Volks release, but if the heart hands are a gift for those who buy both PH girls it doesn't make sense for it to be a lottery. They're going to thank you for your random luck? It must be a pre-order like the last ones.
It does seem like any collaboration releases that are likely to lure in fans of the artist/franchise/whatever are preorders to avoid pissing off potential buyers who aren't familiar with the Volks lottery shenanigans.

 

As for Hermione and Ron, they are not gonna be made unless they reach 200 pre orders
and yet Volks gives zero promotions for them except for one tiny section on Volks News and one retweet from Wizarding World Jp. Is that strange? Did Volks ever sell dolls outside their own web store?

I interpreted this as the dolls will be sold and picked up at Dolpa and not ordered from a later time. Maybe a preorder for the AE? I'm doubtful because of the way Sophie and Angela were released. Volks could change their mind. Fingers crossed though, eh?

@insertcoin Yes, Volks has sold outside the store but it's not common. The Takashimaya fiasco (Junichi Nakahara), the original Rozen Maiden(another TV thing) and Hyde releases are a few examples that come to mind.

 

I am not sure if it means anything. All other brand collaborations (Pink House, BTSSB) were limiteds (Japan exclusive in the case of Pink House), and SD preorders are a new thing anyway.

 

Those PinkHouse girls are beyond adorable! Their features remind me of other sculpts but, like, in a more mature way. I agree that the outfits give off an older Dollheart kind of style and I love it. Sadly my wallet is quite empty, but I shall be content looking at photos for now.

@insertcoin That does seem strange, but maybe the pop up store will generate enough interest and word of mouth advertising? I hope they do get made because the cuteness is so hard to handle. They did a great job with both sculpts and styling them.

Congrats!! You went with the same method I did!

I just didn't wait to enter the lottery a second time for the US/international because I could not stand missing out on this guy. He's the reshell for my Picot Prince Makoko who was a cool doll but never really fit in my crew of characters whereas Regulus still has the big lips but his face shape/size will fit in just perfectly. The owner pics I'm seeing on instagram so far are further solidifying that for me.

 

It makes sense if you are lucky enough to get a admission ticket with a good number (like A0XX) of Dopla and buy both of the girls.
I don't think it is possible to have any pre-order for collaboration doll (of Japanese brand).

BTW I'm glad the girls will be available at the international lottery. Angela and Sophie were Atami event and Japan only (ok...plus the LA Dolpa) . But I hope Volks will sell the dresses separately but seems like it's not gonna happen

 

Volks (Japan/international) have put out a notice confirming the dormitory boys from the latest lottery will be delivered from the 25th onwards, so not long to wait for the shipping notices to go out, hopefully.

 

Looks like my Regulus is on his way. Though Volks hasn't updated their form email to note it's being sent via DHL, which I figured out after trying the tracking number.

Wonder if we'll ever get back to EMS? I miss occasionally not being charged duty. Though more for not having to pay $20+ handling fee to DHL. Canada Post used to charge a flat $10 fee on top of duty which I never minded IF they remembered to do it. DHL insists on double dipping everytime.

On a lighter note, it will be fun to compare him with the rest of the crew especially his SDGr Sunlight boss.

 

I got my shipping notification too, also DHL. Japan Post is super inconsistent about where they’ll send parcels by air to right now, they’ve restored air to a random selection of countries in Europe, but left others with nothing but surface and expensive couriers.

 

I can't wait to see more Regulus and Max owner photos once they get to you all. I hope to see lots more on IG too. Will keep me satisfied until my boy comes in the fall.

I've personally got my eye out for Max and Regulus repainted! Honestly that's always what I'm most excited about with new Volks releases, I just wanna see them with custom faceups!!

 

Same @overlordu ! The repaints are really gonna show off the beauty of this sculpt! A lot of times there are parts of a sculpt I didn’t know existed until the repaints come out. That’s also when the regrets of not getting one come in.

 

I'll be joining the repaint club when I get my Regulus! Some default faceups I love, but I prefer to play with a sculpts potential - especially when it's Volks. There's just so much potential.

I've ordered Ron and I'm crossing my fingers that he reached the 200 pre orders to get made. If he does I will most likely get him repainted as well.

 

I will also get my Regulus repainted! He is supposed to be Egyptian so going to incorporate some blacks and golds and maybe a bit of blue from a fav faceup artist of mine. I do enjoy his regular face up and thats saying alot cause I usually dont like volks default so I might keep it for a while to prioritize getting some blank dolls painted.

 

I have a queue of dolls waiting for a faceup, so Regulus will be joining the back of that, but he’ll get one eventually unless I really love the original when he arrives.

 

I'm looking forward to seeing all those handsome SD17's when they arrive, congrats to those who are bringing them home! Their default faceups are quite attractive, though I always love to see repaints. Their sculpts look rather versatile.
