Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXXII

I don't think it would be an exchange since that would require a whole new head being produced. I'm thinking each adaptation model would be a doll that was pre-owned and has been serviced through Volks. Probably would be peeling and cleaning instead.

 

Yes, Adaptation dolls are completely reconditioned but not new resin parts except maybe if a part was broken (broken finger). I suspect each doll given back to Volks likely needs a different level of treatment but yes would probably get body peeling , new face up, maybe new wig, eyes and have a unique outfit for Adaption Dolls only. My understanding is that they may only be adopted by residents of Japan but maybe the GL membership changes this.

btw “body peeling” also something new for me.. not sure what is that, I thought that they clean anyhow top resin coat..? And make resin more fresh look?.. I wish to have that for my one old doll.. if that what I think))

 

Body pealing means they lightly sand your doll. Afterwards the doll looks much less yellowed because the topmost layer got sanded away.

 

Yep, that what I think, also heard about ppl do sometimes with backing soda))

 

@Kykycik Baking powder doesn’t work on all resin but I have heard that people will use it. I have never had much success with it. Volks does not use it but a combination of their sanding and finishing methods (sand paper and hand held machine abrasive) plus I’m sure of their own chemicals. They really are masters when it comes to finishing dolls!

 

Peeling definitely makes a ridiculous amount of difference! I wish it was easier to access, I'd have it done for several dolls.

So maybe 1-2 months ago I stopped by the thread to ask about a listing on Dollyteria for a Volks Tohya. Right after that, 2 Tohya's appeared in different listings on international auction sites. So it was fate! I ended up buying a Tohya the 2nd who still had his default faceup and his original box, all under $300 and he recently made it to me in the US after a long journey across the Pacific! Here is my new odd-eye boy:

Of course Volks would make me choose between Elsa who's sculpt I like but don't care about the character and Utena and Anthy who's characters I love to hell and back.

 

I get the feeling that this Dolpa/Volks News is going to be one that does massive damage to a lot of us. They're already coming for me with Utena and Anthy and I'm living in fear of what the clothing collection might look like T_T

New dolls are coming in the Boys' Dormitory line!
They're both SD17, called Maximilan and Regulus, and will be available during Dolpa 47 (17/04/2022).
