Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXXIII

Can I get some help IDing this mystery girl I recently acquired?
From her auction photos, I thought she was a Nono, but others said Mimi. There is a "7" engraved in her head, which is Nono's FCS number. And I am not sure what the numbers on her plate are. Date of manufacture?

I disagree, i think she is a mimi and not a nono. Nono has a button nose, small and rounded, mimi had a sharp and pointy nose that usually broke first in a fall and so many a mimi has had her nose sanded. Her eyeshape is what makes me believe she is a mimi aswell. Nono's crease gets bigger/ wider from the outside to the inside while mimi's crease gets smaller/ narrower towards the inside. Nono's original fcs number was different from what it is now, so i don't think the 7 stands for nono, but i can't confirm it. And last but not least i don't think the nono mold has teeth, while mimi does.

 

I agree with @allanieew that she looks more like a Mimi. I know on Mandarake, some of the Mimi heads (sweet dreams) had the number 7 inside, don't know when or why that changed.

 

Last night I was going to say something similar to @allanieew, but the number 7 inside the head stopped me. She's a little mystery, but a cute one, @Tonboko!

 

Not only the mimi sweet Dreams heads are listed on mandarake as no. 7 also 2 open eyed versions have this added to their discription. And both have their boxes. (They are all sold)

Thank you, everyone! I am actually quite happy with her turning out to be a Mimi. After having seen a few other photos of Nono in a FB group, I find I am liking the Mimi sculpt more between the two of them. I love Nono for the eyes, but the mouth and lips of Mimi are just so stinking cute!

Got excited to see Mimi being discussed I don't recall what number my SwD girl has inside but here is some photo tax! She is on the DearSD body and reminds me of a fairy. I think her pointy nose and big eyes / forehead are very old school beauty!

Question! I’ve been trying to read through Volks’ Sato website and various other resources, but haven’t been able to find an exact written source yet, so am working on legacy information, but—

For Volks Tenshi no Sato FCS, will Volks ship a doll to any address in Japan? I will be visiting in March, and since VolksUSA FCS services are so sparse and limited, I was considering my options and if I could just order the head/doll I want from Sato without waiting every 6 months to see if the head might appear for FCS from the USA service. If I had them ship the doll to a friend’s address within Japan, would they do it, or does the address need to include my name? I’m trying to avoid a proxy only because it’s nice to have my own name on the owner’s certificate, and doing an in-person FCS is sort of a “dream” from long ago. But if it’s not at all possible, I’m okay with it, just trying to see if it is

 

Ugh. I can’t believe I didn’t like Volks at all when I first learned of the hobby when I was younger. Now I’ve got one, and a second on the way. Anyone have any sculpts they didn’t like before but they grew to love over time?

For me, specifically, I’ll refer to the Rapunzel Volks released a few years back. I was not a fan of her face at all, now I have one with a custom faceup on her way to me lol!

As of right now, the short answer is no. International people cannot order FCS at any Volks location including Sato and Volks will not allow the use your friends address or any address other than your own Japanese address. FYI, you need a volks VS/VIP membership to order FCS.

 

I wasn't that fond of Lieselotte at first. But she's definitely won me over now . In her case I think it was mostly that it took me a while to warm up to sculpts with teeth.

Alice/Lorina is another sculpt I am definitely starting to warm up to. I really like some of the one-offs or repaints.
