Does anyone happen to know what lengths of elastic to use when stringing an SD13? I traded for an ‘05 Cyndy & they forgot to send me her elastic. I’m also curious what size as the Volks site doesn’t specify that.

 

The SD/SD13 size should be usable for both bodies. There should also be a SD16/SDGr size so you'll want the smaller set

 

I use about 3.5mm thick for SD/SD13 size dolls.

For lengths, you'll want, approximately, when the doll is laid out with all the pieces lined up and inserted in place:
- elbow to elbow x 2 (with the doll's arms out so it's t-posing)
- neck to knee x 4

That should give you a good baseline for length. Add or subtract a bit based on your preferences, if you like your dolls looser or tighter.

 

Thank you! Are they strung with one loop going through both arms, then two separate loops going from S hook through legs? I watched a video that seemed official, but for some reason the beginning was cut off & didn’t show the S hook being connected.

 

Yes, it's one loop going through both arms. For the legs, it's also one loop folded in half at the S-hook, but if you were to use 2 separate loops, it wouldn't make much difference, imo, so just do what you prefer!
Edited to clarify: the measurements I gave earlier were for 1 loop folded in half. If you were to do 2 loops for the legs, it'd be neck to knee x 2 for each loop

I'm confused. Her price is 135,000 yen. = $1,027.00.
But she's $1,350.00 from volks usa.
That looks like a mistake. They put yen amount instead of dollars.
But, no one noticed? Am I hallucinating?
Surcharge? Exchange rate favors US, but....

 

You aren't hallucinating; VolksUSA prices their items in USD and does not use the current exchange rate on their products. It hurts.

I did not win the lottery for Volks International, and neither did 4 of my friends who also entered. Congrats to everyone who entered and won, and good luck to everyone on their 2nd chance!

The exchange rate for the US dollar against the yen has been very strongly in the USD's favor for about a year now. Volks USA prices their products with a 1:1 conversion rate, because it would be too difficult to have it constantly fluctuate as real currencies do.

It's still MUCH cheaper than trying to buy second hand, and all of the excess money still goes to volks instead of a reseller that jacks up the price for profit.

 

I always assumed that VolksUSA had higher prices as an overhead; shipment costs from Japan to their US warehouse, import costs, etc.

 

I think they just haven't bothered to change the conversion rate in a while...

 

$300 plus. I haven't seen that with other items like the current rococo shoes or for FCS.
Shocking.
