Hi ☺️ hope this is the right place to ask this question but can you guys tell me if it is possible to buy just a body and not a complete doll directly from volks website?

I'm not sure if you saw my post a few pages back, but I had some tips from my experience opening Marie! Because of then potential dress staining I would get some cotton gloves if you don't have them already! I'd be nervous about color transfer of the dress, especially when fighting against that wig! Congratulations on your win!

Unfortunately Volks does not sell bodies separately. However, Mandarake online store often has lots of bodies, as does Dollyteria!

Congrats to all the winners, wishes of luck in future search for those who did not win! I fortunately was not interested in either Oskar or Marie, so the money stays in my wallet (for now, haha).
I saw the pictures of Ariel and I am a bit disappointed that they used the same expression on all Disney Princesses except Frozen girls. I suspect Disney might have a hand in that. The wig also looks very plastic-y (then again, Volks' wigs often do). Would not be buying either way, but happy for all who waited for her!

 

I showed Ariel to my mom (who loves dolls and Disney but not a fan of BJDs) and she loves her! I told my her we could go half and half to get her and she agreed as long as she gets custody and can put her in her large doll call case. But hey, that’s better than nothing! She would be my first Volks SD! I’ve been wanting the other Disney dolls so bad, but just haven’t been able to get them yet.

 

f-70 is SUCH a lovely sculpt. Mine is easily my favorite doll!

is anyone hopeful Volks USA will have Ariel out for preorder? (Or even click war/lottery)

I just now noticed Ariel will only ship in Japan and it’s got me quite stressed and slightly hopeless since I do not know any available proxies (all the ones I know have been asked so many times for help with Ariel)

 

I was hoping to pre order Ariel but I missed that they will only deliver to Japan addresses. Maybe using a proxy like Noppin can help? I might try to pre order her through Noppin.

 

Thank you for the advice! I need to get a pair of some cotton gloves, because I know resin make up is more delicate. Do you mean the color of the dress will transfer to the resin that easily? I know vinyl stains easily, but I didn't know that resin did, too. I will definitely go back and look at your unboxing experience. Thank you so much!

 

So I use cotton gloves to dress and put the wig on all of my Volks dolls because the sealant is so fragile for their faceups. However, for the first time ever, I had color transfer from a Volks outfit to my gloves with Marie. I'm unsure if it would transfer to the doll, but I would say it would be a possibility. I didn't go as far as to put any protective suit on her body as most of the inside of the dress is lined.

 

Ah, good to know, thanks! I actually needed to get some anyways. I have pet jumping spiders, and they don't like the sensation of skin. I also needed to get some to wear with lotion at night. I swear, if I rubbed my hands together fast enough, I'd start a fire. I'll have to be more fastidious with not touching her face than I am with my Dollfies. Going to have to do a lot of research for first time resin questions. All new to me, but I want to take care of her. I didn't even know at first that she and Oscar were from a manga. I was thinking Marie Antoinette with Kirsten Dunst. Always felt relatable to the real Marie, because I my hobbies seem to be champagne tastes with on a beer budget

 

Sailing in after being away for the weekend with happy news, Marie is mine from VolksUSA! So thankful after losing out in the international lottery. .

@riversofblood, that's interesting -- the Lady Oscar parts sheet has a different special website address, and I got it to work just now. Maybe you're just one number or letter off in the area after "/special/"?

 

Yes, I also got the Oscar one to work so I don’t know what’s wrong. I’ve emailed Volks but they always take like a week to reply

 

@riversoblood, it appears that the order period is good until May 21. I know what you mean about how long it takes for Volks to reply, but they should get back to you before then! Interesting that no one else so far has mentioned difficulty with the parts order link. No one wants hands for Marie?
