Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXXIII

@Aiko-chan thank you, she’s still in customs and im getting worried, i never had a doll held up this long.

 

Congrats - Cozi's outfit looks great on her. I'm glad my SD came with a bonnet as it helps keep her wig on.

I have a lot of Volks outfits and aside from the notorious pleather issues I've found the outfits I've acquired from 2007 releases or earlier are generally in great condition. The thing that annoys me most are the little thread hooks they seem to increasingly use on their outfits. Invariably the thread breaks and it can be fiddly to repair on smaller items like cuffs and collars.

 

@Xiongmao that's so true. The little hooks get really annoying to try and sew back on, but I'm getting better at it. Thankfully this outfit has snaps, but those also tend to get loose over time. The quality of stitching is great, and the bonnet is super cute and fits so well. Didn't think about it helping to hold a wig in place, but it certainly does the trick!

Pleather has been an issue for awhile now with many doll company outfits and shoes, and I really wish it wouldn't be used anymore. Or at least, find another way to simulate leather without all the peeling and wear that happens. So many of my doll shoes are unusable now. Good project shoes to experiment with, I suppose.

 

Pleather is just...ick. I do have a Loungefly backpack that is pleather, but it feels solid, thick, and flexible. It's nothing like any of the pleather used on doll outfits. I'd be willing to pay more for an outfit that uses some other kind of fabric instead. It's just awful stuff and ages so fast.

 

Hmm..although I know the offering is SD and not SDGr, I'm still slightly disappointed in the offerings for this FCS. But perhaps I more so just wish Global members had broader options for FCS instead of a random selection of heads every 6 months (although I appreciate we have anything at all, and online even).

 

I really want the Tan Saki (SD59) but FCS is so expensive

 

I'm not sure if I showed my Diamond here after I painted him and dresses him up ❤️ Can't wait for SD16 FCS to come!! Curious how much more Diamonds will be around!

@pichu10176 thanks for the link, my SD Marie is still in customs (11 days ), and I really want to get hands asap.

 

I'm broke at the moment, but how would it be possible to order parts down the road for SDGr Marie if you won her from VolksUSA? @dollykrysis I hope your Marie is released soon! I try to think that they just are taking a scenic route to get home.

 

@Deyja hmm I’m not sure. Im positive that all owners receive the link to purchase hands and other parts in their box, whether its USA or JP. The deadline for JP orders is sometime in May. I assume that for USA winners its maybe June?

I hope too. Its Friday night and she still hasn’t been released from customs and its been 14 days. My anxiety levels are so high.

 

Yes, I can confirm that for Japanese lottery winners, the optional parts are available for 3 months (I assume from when the items are delivered to the lottery winners), so until a date in May. For Japan (maybe for US?) there are also blushed hands parts available for Oscar, but the deadline for these is only a month - it was until mid-late March, I think. This info is on a leaflet in the box. I'll double check the exact dates later.

Oh gosh your Anna is ridiculously cute and I looove this photo of her. I am so tempted to get her. But it's funny because I'm not sure I'd like her sculpt if I didn't *know* she was Anna, you know? Even though I love every photo I see of her that's not in her Anna outfit. Then again, does it matter if knowing she's Anna is a big part of the appeal? Liking is liking, right?
