Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXXIII

Looking forward to seeing the Ariels this weekend! She and Jasmine (if they ever plan to make her) are my must-buys from the Volks/Disney collaboration. Anyone else got their eye on her?

 

Me too! Ariel is my number one must have Volks x Disney collab! I'm hoping to get her and her extra outfit.

 

Ariel only released a couple hours ago and is listed as sold out on the Disney store... for some reason it never crossed my mind it was going to be a clickwar thing on the disney site so i didn't think to check immediately at the time of opening...

 

Same. I saw the note about a pre-order cap but I didn’t take it seriously because from past experience with other MTOs from Japan it’s just a disclaimer and they never actually hit the limit. I wonder if they’ll be allocated any more given the demand?

Do Volks jp ship to Tenso addresses? I haven’t bought a doll in years and I remember them being inconsistent about Tenso in the past.

 

I'm so excited, Ariel is preordered! She looks so stunning in photos I have seen so far. I think this will be my last doll for a while (probably not hahahaha)

Hi everyone!

I just created a hybrid using a SD13 body and a Dollfie Dream head and was wondering if anyone had any tips or ideas for how best to keep the S hook in the head without causing warping. Right now I have a washer of sorts that the hook is resting on inside the vinyl head. Would that work for longtime use?

Also, here he is, it's Inuyasha! I'm still working on him but I finished dyeing all the parts to match today. I still have the outfit and details to work on, plus his eyes and ears aren't 100% to my liking yet. He'll get there though. Eventually.

 

@Aiko-chan My Kikyou says, "Hi!" As for the washer, I would coat it in something first, or switch to a plastic one. The vinyl can react to metal, which can cause green spots to form over time. "Over time" meaning 20-50 years, so not something you have to worry about right away, just something to think about. But it's something you see in old barbies with metal jewellery sometimes.

 

@Audrina Mystique Kikyou!!! Thank you for the advice! Maybe I can stick a kips disc between the washer and vinyl to help ease the load and contact.

I just got my grubby little hands on a F-04 from 2000... Anyone have experience with ladies of this age? There's some big differences I've noticed thus far - lighter weight resin, lack of head plate - but she's gorgeous! Reminds me a lot of the old CP Delfs.

 

I don't have any experience or tips for you @SaltedPretzel but I have to say WOW she's beautiful!!! Congrats! I love the old school look of Volks so much, especially the older sculpts. So classic!

 

Congrats on your beautiful F04! She is really precious, I love those old Volks gems. I recently also got an old F04, here is my girl Myriad:

 

@SaltedPretzel I have one too! I'll have to dig a pic up later, but from my experience, old resin heads like that aren't that different from any other resin head. A little thinner than modern Volks heads, a little more fiddly to get on and off the body. But they're colour is fairly stable, they've already yellowed, so that isn't as much of a concern.

Yea, put a kips in, and a metal washer between the kips and the s-hook (otherwise it will tear the kips), and that should keep it good for years.

 

My Ariel arrived today, and though she is a beautiful doll, I must say I am especially impressed with her wig! It's so beautiful and thick, it's easily my new favourite wig. Also I nearly threw away the dinglehopper by accident when I was opening her, haha. Had to dig it out of the rubbish, it was in a separate pocket connected to the packet with her hands in it, and I just thought it was spare plastic.

 

Congrats @Chobittum! Volks wigs tend to be awful quality so hearing her wig is nice and thick makes me so excited to receive my Ariel!

Hey guys! Sorry for barging in like that, but I have a question for the people who semi-recently-ish went to Tenshi no Sato.
I will be in Japan late October, and plan to spend several days in Kyoto. As such Tenshi no Sato is on the list of things we would like to see.

As far as I can see, to be able to visit them during their regular visitation days, I need to reserve a spot online a day before.
So far, so good. It also says that I need to have an online membership, and can bring along one person as my companion.

Now to my questions:
- I DO have an online account, but I have no purchases stored in it. I never purchased from Volks directly, only second-hand
Would that be an issue?
- Does my companion need their own Volks account as well?

I do plan to bring along my DWC-01 boy, both for photos and to show I'm a fan
EDIT: I wrote them a message now as well, hopefully they will reply. I will keep you updated for future reference and others who might be curious.
