I am so ready for the lady Oscar this winter since I missed the last one.

 

It's been almost a year since I poked Volks USA about restocking the Finishing Powder spray, so I sent them an email. As expected, they wrote back saying they hope to get it by the end of the year, but don't know for sure due to "unavoidable delays" and the "difficulty of importing flammable goods".

The spray is in stock on Volks' Japanese website. I wonder how feasible it would be to run a US group order and get it from Japan? We'd have to hire a proxy and mail it by sea, I guess, so it would take ages to get here. But it's now been two years since I first asked Volks USA when they'd restock it and they keep saying "soon". I have never used a proxy, or had anything mailed by sea, or even mailed aerosols within the US (I know it must go by ground, but not sure if there's restrictions on who is allowed to mail such things). Is there any interest in trying to figure this out? The ZM spray is my absolute favorite sealant; I don't want to use anything else, and I'm willing to pay well over the retail price to get it. Anybody else feel the same?

 

Pretty sure there are more than a few face-up artists who would join that order. I would too.

ALSO the news from Volks USA is pretty exciting! An extended FCS order period for October and a new SD16 girl head!

 

Oh man I need some zouk spray so so so badly. The end of the year is pretty soon in the grand scheme of things. I wonder if they'll actually come through this time.
If not, I'd also join in. As it is, I currently give a free face up out to anyone who can get me a can

 

@overlordu : If there is a possibility for a GO from Japan, I'd definitely get a stash of cans. I miss this sealant so much!

Exciting news about the new SD16 FCS head. I wonder if it will be a numbered FCS head they haven't offered, or if a Limited Edition head will join lineup.. or a brand new head entirely!

Glad to see there's some interest in getting Finishing Powder spray from Japan! I started to look into it today. I checked the fees and surface mail shipping rates at a few proxy services and so far it seems like the end cost per can wouldn't be much more than Volks USA's price (on the high end I got $10-11 per can). Next I sent a few emails asking them to verify whether or not they can/will ship aerosol cans overseas. A few sites had pages in their FAQs listing "prohibited items", which did include spray cans. I'm confused about that because if they're completely prohibited from being shipped overseas, how is there still Mr. Super Clear available in the USA? It's manufactured in Japan. It had to get here somehow!

Anyway, I don't really know what I'm doing but I'll keep y'all updated if I figure it out I also considered emailing Volks themselves begging to mail it overseas from their Japanese website. But I think we all know they'd say no

I'm getting antsy for my Elsa to ship. They said "fall", so I'm wondering if it will lean towards beginning of October, or more 20th of December...

I have a question about the head cap. I have seen some head caps with magnet and some without. Is the one with magnet more expensive? And if so how much more is it usually?

also is the pure skin fair the normal skin and darker than pure skin white?

 

Head caps without magnets are older - I don’t know the exact date it swapped over but original dollfie used a rubber band system and then as part of a redesign they switched to magnets. I think condition and sculpt are going to be most influential on price though I’m sure some people would like to avoid rubber bands if they can.

They changed the name of skin tones in 2019, from lightest to darkest:

Pure Skin White
Pure Skin Fair (previously PS Normal)
Pure Skin Tan (previously PS Sunlight)
Pure Skin Bronze (previously PS Shadow)
Pure Skin Amber (previously PS Ebony)

Just saw in the latest Volks newsletter that they discontinued the Standard SD sculpts! I had no clue. I wonder if that will hold true for VolksUSA too... It might be time to finally grab my Nico.

 

If you mean the outer 2 magnets, they come with FCS dolls when optional magnetic parts are ordered.

Finally! I expected them to replace the standards a while ago. Don't rush too much because the old heads will still be available through FCS. You can see F-60/Coco all the time on online FCS for example.
