1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXXIII

Sep 12, 2022

    1. Alright, long post incoming so images and description under the cut

I'm out of town, so I just have Suzuran with me: she's an FCS F-60 in sunlight/tan resin SD10 girl 2-part torso body made in 2023

Hand removal: if a body is still as strunf by Volks, it'll have the metal washer ring you see here

Inside of hand: "09" in rougher, handwriting style text as Suzuran has FCS H-09 hands. Some hands will also have a little "VS" Volks stencil. The hook is glued into the resin

View of the one-touch system inside the wrist – the little groove that lets you rest the s-hook inside the wrist so you can quickly swap hands. I have Volks bodies from back to 2003 with this system – afaik only oldskin bodies lack it

Inside of lower left arm: Volks "VS" stencil and handwriting style "L" visible

Still lower left arm, another angle visible for "03" – part number for SD double-jointed arm, in handwriting style letters

Right foot – metal washer from Volks stringing visible, as well as "VS" stencil and handwriting style "R" stencil

One-touch system in right ankle. Volks ankle joints also have a little ridge (hand to see here under the s-hook)

Right foot – "VS" stencil and handwriting style "FO-01" – the part number for SD10/13 standard flat feet. You can also see the little dip the ankle ridge sits in

Inside of knee with "VS" stencil. Suzuran has some marbling because of her tan skin and sanding. Afaik Volks only has single joint knees for SD10/13 bodies (Graffiti girl and boy bodies, SDM, SD16 and SD17 have double jointed knees)

Inside of hip, left side, "09" in handwriting style. Not entirely sure what this stands for

Inside of hip, right side, "VS" stencil

There may be some variation in markings over time – I'll be back home in 4 days if you'd like to see some older bodies

Suzuran doll tax for being such a patient model!

    2. Wow, thank-you so much for your detailed photos. I'm so grateful for you taking the time to do this! And to Suzuran hehe. Would you say Mandarake is the safest second hand market to purchase from for authenticity? Are there any known bootlegs out there that try to mimic any of these markings? I would definitely request photos when possible and now I know what to look for. If you have the time, I would appreciate the older body photos as well, but only at your leisure. I'd prefer to get a newer body but we'll see what's out there and what I can get my hands on. Looks like I'll need two bodies.

    3. I find Dollyteria the safest because they only sell dolls, whereas Mandarake sells figures, model kits, pop culture merch etc.
Mandarake is generally good, but requires a bit more due diligence. They also won't refund items that have arrived broken unless you film your box opening with the package and items staying on screen the entire time.
The area where you'd have to do the most due diligence would be secondhand auction/flea market sites like y!j, rakuten and mercari.
I'm not sure about bootlegs, but for Volks dolls with heads you can check the headplate against release databases like Tenshi no Kishi: Angel's Base
For example, I bought a Volks Rose from the marketplace here and by using that site I was able to work out she was the original 2008 release because of her headplate, body type and faceup.
It's a good idea to keep an eye out for features that Volks don't offer for dolls, e.g. double-jointed knees on a SD10, different resin colours besides the standard 3 (though there have been some special resin releases in Amber and Shadow like Ruby or Beast Claude).
Volks also has a size page that shows all their bodies in underwear, so you can compare bodies against that to see if something isn't right: SDボディサイズと種類 | ボークス公式 ドルフィー総合サイト | ボークス
I have SD10 oldskin, SD10 solid torso, SD10 2-part torso, SD13 boy, Gr girl and SD17 boy bodies, so I can get some shots of those when I'm back home.

    4. One of my absolute favorite Volks dolls I own is my 85 boy. He's so special to me because he was the first FCS doll I ever ordered brand new and got to do all the fun faceup, eye, etc choices. He's on an SD10 body which is just fine for me as I'm not super picky about joints/poseability. He's just got this serious but also mischievous face!

    5. That little guy is *definitely* Up To Something.
      He's adorable.

    6. He has a seriously good poker face! :whee:

    7. Has anyone seen the owner limited order page for Elizabeth yet? I really hope her heel legs are on it! :eusa_pray
...and also those beautiful hands!! So pretty!!! :fangirl:

    8. Thank-you so much again for all of your help! Dollyteria sounds like the safest place to begin the hunt. I like that they have their own ranking system as well.

I also appreciate the database link and the bodies page on the Volks site, I've never stumbled across that page before. I've seen some 'SD' bodies pop up on y!a but the bodies are all one solid piece compared to the SD on their site where there is a rib cage movement. Are those older bodies? (The SD10 solid torso you mentioned perhaps?) And do you have any pictures or information on double-joined knees? I'd love any more photos you might be able to share when you can, thank-you!

And not related but related, I saw the pending lottery go up for Elizabeth! That's very exciting! She's so gorgeous too. Has anyone here won any of their lotteries in the past? I guess there's no way of knowing what the odds are like winning one?

    9. I won a lottery for Lieselotte some time ago, and haven't won anything else out of the 5 lotteries I've tried. The thing is, the odds are different for every lottery because it depends on how many dolls are produced vs how many people apply. Sometimes there are lots more dolls, sometimes there are lots more people, and only Volks gets to see those stats. But still, it's exciting to speculate!

    10. Okay round 2...

Give it up for our five volunteers! From left to right (using sculpt names for convenience(:
      Rose, SD10 2-piece torso, 2008
      Nico, SD10 solid torso, 2023
Shizu, GrG with flat feet on, 2014
      Isao, SD13 boy, 2004
      Ryoma, SD17 boy, 2013

Shizu and Ryoma were Best Selection lottery dolls, so they were stored in their boxes for nearly a decade. This will also give you an idea of how PS Fair/Normal ages. Rose and Isao are secondhand, so I don't know what conditions they were stored in.

View of SD10 torsos. Rose has a 2-piece torso like Suzuran, but at the moment Volks's SD10 standards (Mai, Mel, Nico) come with solid torso bodies.

SD10 girl body compared to Graffiti Girl body. GrG all have 3-part torsos and the slender build plus added height gives a more "grown up" impression. The GrG flat legs are double jointed with mobility joints and locking points in the thigh.
So far, all SD10 girl and boy bodies and the SD13 girl are only single-jointed in the knees.
Both have double-jointed arms: the current SD10 standard girls are the first ones to have double-jointed arms (original release in 2017).

View of the GrG knees from the back. Older GrG bodies came with flat and heel legs, but it seems most newer releases only come with one set, usually the heel legs. This is managed with a cable tie in the head along the main elastic loop to shorten the elastic for the heel legs. The heel legs have no ankle joints – I can take a picture of these if you'd like

      Onto the boys:
Isao, SD13 boy with long legs, 2-piece torso. This body has been phased out in favour of the GrB Origin body, but unfortunately I don't have one. His arms and legs are single jointed.
Ryoma, SD17 boy, double-jointed arms and legs, 3-piece torso. The SD17 body has mobility joints in the thigh, but without the locking notches the GrG body has.

Inside the SD17 hips. There's moulded texture and grooves so the leg has more friction to hold poses better.

SD17 double jointed knee from front and back. This is the newer knee joint – Volkd upgraded it around 2009

Let me know if there's anything else you'd like pictures of :thumbup

    11. Apropos of absolutely nothing: I've been out of the hobby for a hot minute and can't find anything concrete on this... does Volks still release all four school heads for events/classes? I'm kind of surprised they haven't made a fifth, tbh.

I welcomed an adorable Luna into my family just last week. Her name is Rêve and she used to belong to a close friend who graciously allowed me to adopt her into my family. I am looking forward to the clothes that will be released during the AE and for the lottery for Elizabeth! Here is hoping that everyone who wants Elizabeth and Williams will be able to invite them into their family. :chibi

They release DWC heads now from what I know. I don't think they sell School heads anymore. They had a class recently where the DWC-06 head was released for attendees.
