Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXXIV

Amber was previously known as "Ebony", and SD13 Irvin was released in this color. I can't recall any other LEs in Amber, but the US SD16 FCS has had the Amber option for a while now!

Oh my goodness, she's gorgeous!! Is that Volks make up or?

I want to get at least one amber doll, because the uber rare opportunity for darker resin Volks is irresistible. I'm seriously considering Diamond. She's such a deliciously unique sculpt, and I just love the fact it was a design proposed by a doll fan.

 

"Amber" aka "Ebony" was first used in 2007 for SD16 Ruby! Irvin was the second, and as far as I know, the only other Limited to use Amber/Ebony.

Volks USA was true to their word -- Online FCS this October! My jaw dropped when I saw the email at lunchtime. Do I, don't I, want to order Topaz... or Emerald? That is the question...

The answer to every question in here is Both. You want both.

 

The "head decorations" are animal ear and horn parts, attachable with magnets.

 

The head decoration parts are magnetic ear accessories! This has been an option for Japan FCS for quite some time, so this is truly exciting! The magnets are inside the headcap and are quite strong.

You can see it at the back upper left corner of this photo. They are flush with the head, so easily hidden by a wig if you choose not to use the head deco

 

I'm absolutely in love with the Sultry and Romantic makeup options I've been fairly set on an Emerald in PS Amber since she was unveiled at Dolpa, but after seeing the photos of all 5 makeups... I want two wahaha she's so pretty in every combination! Topaz is gorgeous as well. I think I'll go with one Emerald in Amber with Romantic makeup for sure... I've been planning on making an SD16 Justitia for a while now and she's perfect for the project.
The 2nd extra hand options, magnetic head parts, and omukae outfit sets being added to Online FCS are a dream come true! The random wig choice is interesting-- I do like that you can choose length and light/dark, but I'll be getting a specific wig for this project anyway.
I wonder which makeup artists were over the new makeup types? Sultry definitely strikes me as Saifa-like.

 

Yes, she has the old "Vivid Makeup" option! It doesn't look like it's available anymore, but we have 5 gorgeous options now as opposed to the two from before!

 

@Audrina Mystique, @IMySD, I thought so, but wasn't sure. I fiddled around with the order page, and finally found the drop-down menus with the choices. This adds a further temptation to order someone this time around!

Oh, and we can get a semi-random wig, too!

 

Does anyone know if the magnets are standard, or do they only give you a magnet head if you order optional decorations?

I have two second hand FCS dolls that were both made after the ears/magnets became a thing and one has magnets and one doesn't. The one that doesn't is limited to Sato, but I've also seen other owners with the same sculpt and it has magnets

 

I guess my wallet is relieved but I must say I'm genuinely disappointed that FCS is only SD16 girls. The seemingly random limited head selection was bad enough. Given how it's frowned upon to use a shopping service they're really making it difficult lol

 

Just came here to convince everyone to bring a Pearl into their collection ^^ My Pearl is PS Fair with a USA FCS faceup from the last round.

 

The magnets only come installed if you select the head decoration option with the upcharge. They are not standard.

 

Even though I know they announced at Dolpa that'd they be doing the SD16 FCS again soon, and I know this will seem like an unpopular opinion, I'm just still a little...disappointed(?) at this particular line of dolls always being pushed onto us western owners.

I know they were designed with western trends in mind, which is super thoughtful and appreciated, but I'm just...looking forward to other options being offered ^^;

Yeah, I'm not really sure why they do this. American dollfie fans are fans of volks dolls for their original looks. The whole Americana theme of the dolpa was weird too imo. The one-offs in Japan are always so much more appealing than the ones here. The early dolpa LA days were so nice.

 

The US October offering is almost always either only SD16 girls or SD16 girls and SDGr boys

I am hopeful that this online FCS revamp indicates we will get a similar variance in faceup styles, the addition of the magnetic head decorations, and the welcoming dress option for future opportunities as well. In the past they have done the SD and SDM online FCS in both spring and summer, so fingers crossed we get more opportunities soon!

I don't mind whatever we get, especially since we are getting new options this time around. I think in the US we are lucky to even have this option at all, since the only way to get a FCS doll serviced in the future is if it's in your name. I am sure some of our friends from other parts of the world would love any opportunity, so I consider it a privilege.

That being said, as far as I understand it, you can always email Volks USA with a request for specific FCS head sculpts! I know there are no guarantees, but if enough people ask for it anything is possible! I know a few people have been asking for the head magnets for a while and boom, now they are here!

 

I love Emerald. The new sculpts looked more realistic than what I expect from Volks, then I scrolled down and saw them with makeup. Blown away!

 

Thank you! Good to know. I almost skipped them because as much as I ADORE this feature, the official Volks ears aren't really for me. But I love having the magnets for my own accessories, and I love how Volks insets them in the head, so I will order ears anyway. I wish they had been labeled. I'm guessing the first ones are cat, horns are obvious, and the others are fox maybe? Not sure what the down-ish angled ones are.

I get that. This kind of hospitality is very Japanese, and I definitely appreciate the sentiment (and the absolute monumental effort/resources allocated to create so many sculpts and offer FCS without having to travel!) but I also hope we can communicate to Volks that many of us are Volks fans in the first place because of their 'original recipe' . I'm sure they felt that at Dolpa! (I'm selfishly very glad because I happen to love SD16 just as much and I'm SO glad for Amber skin).

Pro tip: If you are getting more than one you need to do them separately. The cart is not configured to allow more than one doll (at least not with make up) in an order .

I have decided on one Amber Pearl for sure, but I can't decide between dark make up and romantic make up. And can't decide on a second doll (will be Amber for sure though).

Topaz is so interesting - I love the fuller lips (including the above lip area) and the more prominent brow ridge. I think she'd look amazing in Amber as well . The more I look at her, the more I love her. I really hope someone gets her in Amber.
