Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXXIV

The droopy ones are kind of like a sad puppy dog ear? They are folded over. It's hard to see in those small pictures but maybe this will give a better visual!

They do seem highly collectible I would never say no to more photos!!

 

I placed my order for Emerald in light tan with the boyish makeup and a short light wig, some extra ears so I can get the magnets installed and all the extra services and hands. Very, very excited for these. I LOVE SD16s and am always surprised I only have 1 right now. If the stars align and I have more money before the end of the order period I'll get another one, but this was a hard choice! It's really nice to see everyone taking advantage of the order and getting excited. I hope they see this and bring back the FCS a little more regularly. Though... that wait time! Oof!

Side note: I'm actually kind of surprised the stupid headcap tabs went over well? Apparently? I was expecting people to hate them. I, for one, absolutely hate them. They make the dolls feel like toys (though ABJD has been feeling like this more and more lately) and they're just not necessary imho. They're sort of nice for my Yo-SD, but they totally ruin the integrity and artistry of the doll for me. I was so upset about them I promised I would never buy another Volks doll with them again... then Tsubaki and Emerald happened. I wonder if removing them properly would ever upset a future buyer, since it's hard to predict how people will feel in the future.

 

Good to know I'm not just being grumpy then. I feel like we should say something to Volks if we haven't already. Just so they know. They likely won't listen, but it's definitely worth it. It's such an odd feature that feels very un volks-like

 

I expected to not like the wig tabs, but... I actually like them on my Genji. No need for a silicone wig ring. May not work on everyone, or for everyone, but for now I'm not against them, lol.

 

I have been whining and moaning everywhere I can that I want a Diamond so badly, but I have never had a Super Dollfie before and have no clue if I'd like the body or not. $800 dollars is a lot of money...and the timeframe is so short, I feel like I might have to sit this one out due to not having enough time to save up.

 

The best way I can describe the SD16 girl body is that she's a big fashion doll. Coming from fashion doll collecting, I'm fine with that; she always looks good in clothes. Some people don't like the posing, compared to the Graffiti girl body, but since Volks will probably never include the Graffiti girl body on FCS, well... SD16 is the next best thing IMO.

Stringing is finicky, but a little easier than a Graffiti girl. And a head like Diamond's needs to be on an SD16 body, as it's got such pronounced features.

It is difficult, getting such short notice about the order period.

Definitely a ditto on that price + short ordering time frame... but I bit the bullet and put in my order anyway. I didn't want to miss out on Diamond again. I had started to think we wouldn't have another FCS, I'm glad that wasn't the case.

I'm really torn between either enter the one off lotteries or getting a Diamond, she is so tempting, on one hand, I know the chance to win any of the one off lotteries is nearly impossible, the only thing that keeps me thinking about the sd16 body is how little clothing options are there for this body or am I wrong? Never say never in regards to one offs! But I totally understand the concern. The timing is not ideal if you've got your eyes on more than one possibility!

That first image from the instsgram post is actually the Ennui faceup. I think the photo on the Volks USA order form is more saturated so it looks a bit different, but the eyelashes, brow and lip paint/color leads me to believe that's Ennui.

 

I fell in love with Emerald. Does anyone know of a relyable service or person that could help me acquire her? (I am so used to looking for and buying second hand that i am not up to date on how to buy new anymore, or i am just getting old, or worse both )

Yeeeah.... I *so* do not need another big doll, but I have to admit that an Amber resin Emerald is really calling to me for Shamsun, my Incarna of the Sun. It's really just a question of faceup choices. Romantic for a gentler look or the darker Sultry for a more serious goddess...

As for clothing options, my SD16 gals have shared things with my Spiritdoll Proud girls, my Iple SID, the Soom Super Gem ladies in the crew, my Luts Senior Delf girl and a friend's Fairyland Feeple65. My Oscar, Ifri, is currently borrowing a sweater from Rafe, my old-school Dolshe Haute Hound.

You may have to use a strategic safety pin here or there for a shared wardrobe... or just do minor alterations if your gal has the closet to herself... But there are absolutely options out there.

 

Out of curiosity, can your SID girls wear SD16 clothes?

 

I don't have a large collection of specific SD16-sized outfits, but the Volks items I've tried on Madison have mostly done pretty well. The only piece I remember really being a no-go were the leggings from my Ami's full set outfit, but rather that was a "too tight" or a "wrong length" issue I don't recall.
