I really need to get some better photos of all my dolls but especially this guy! This was my first ever Volks fcs that I got brand new and got to choose all the faceup options so he's very special to me.

 

I don't have one, but it seems Volks originally released her with 20mm eyes, so they might be a better fit than 18mm

As I go through my collection and sell the ones I can't keep (life and space changes), I am reminded of how beautiful Volks sculpts are. So many tiny things that make them feel more alive.

Might be of interest... SDGr Williams is now listed on the Volks international online store, available to buy directly. I guess he really didn't sell well! Maybe people are Williams-ed out. I decided to get him and will be replacing an SD13 Williams I have (I like the SDGr boy body and the white resin more).

 

^I think the whole look was the problem not the sculpt. I never want to see that combination again.

Between the strong dollar and the unpopularity of my last two Volks lottery dolls, I couldn't be happier. + He shipped!

Anyone looking at getting Williams in the USA lottery should check out Japan. USA adds the difference in yen to the dollar & tacks it onto the cost. Even with shipping, Japan is waay less expensive.

 

Question about yellowing. Do volks resin doll yellows even if it's in a closet without sunlight? Is it because of the air is till moving when opening and closing the closet that may cause mild yellowing over time?
( I remember if box unopened they generally don't yellow at all...)

Ohhh, I've wanted a Williams that wasn't as big as an SD17 - but I am hanging on in the hopes of finding an old one from the SD13 release, as I have a body in a box in the cupboard under the stairs, and I've held onto it for just that reason!

 

Ugh, I hate when I miss a new thread.

I really really hate that I missed the thread now. I had wanted to put in for Williams in the International lottery, but couldn't scrounge up enough money in time so consigned myself to the USA one, and entered on the very last day. If I had checked this thread I could have saved so much money potentially, since I haven't won the the USA lottery yet. But if he's really not that popular then my chances may be pretty good.

 

@Cloudedmind, for what it's worth, he's still in stock on the Japan/international store 2 days later, which I think is a good sign. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

And from what I saw in comments from Japanese owners on Twitter, the general vibe was that people were more interested in a white skin SD17 release or preferred the proportions of SD17 Williams. So maybe that explains it also.

 

That makes a lot of sense, @idrisfynn! There was also the white SD17 body that came with Ludo, but obviously that's pretty hard to come by. And just from my own window shopping, SD17 Williams comes up pretty often, so anyone who wants him now isn't going to have problems getting him.

Plus, while I like his outfit, it's definitely a lot more younger-boy/man (which makes sense with the timeline) than the more swashbuckling outfits that came with the SD17 version.

 

@idrisfynn Andre and Ludo are the other 2 options for SD17 WS, but good luck with those two too. It really isn't the ideal release unless you need WS to match RG.

I felt really lucky with this release because he was both WS and SDGrB. I dream of winning an RG head in the future for the same character, so I didn't want to settle for an old release in normal. Everything seemed perfect until I found out I couldn't enter for him because I don't own a credit card. I was pretty crushed and didn't want to pay the ~$300 USA tax. I'm thanking Mother SD for accepting my 31 Williams drawings and letting me order him even though I failed to enter the lottery.
