1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXXIV

Jan 12, 2024

    1. The important words to know are words like: boy, girl, nose, mouth, eyes, large, small, and numbers in Japanese, and how to say "super dollfie, minie, dream," with a Japanese accent. If you want a faceup, you would need to know how to say "do makeup" (the japanese word for makeup with the particle o and the verb suru, by the way). And, you would need an address to mail it to, of course.

So, to put it together, say you wanted to make a male SD Mimi. You would say "Supaa dorufii otoko no desu. (The super dollfie boy one.) Ohana ga chiisai no desu. (The one with a small nose.)" They'll show you the available male bodies and the heads with small noses. Then, you choose the ones you want.

    2. If it's helpful context at all, I did FCS ordering at Sato many years ago (2007/2008). I got the feeling that the staff who helped were anxious mainly about providing a level of service they weren't sure they could given the language barrier, more than the language itself. It's a very intimate (and small) environment, and they really clearly wanted the experience to feel special. We did our best with limited language on both sides. I did come in knowing all the technical details I needed like headmold numbers and eye colors, plus relevant terms (though at the time, the makeup section required details about the "character," and explaining vibes in another language was a real challenge). There was definitely a fair bit of pointing to confirm we were on the same page. The first time I DID have to use the Volks staff phone to reassure my credit card company nothing nefarious was happening, also :sweat It all worked out, but I did worry that the entire endeavor was overly stressful for the staff! I definitely still feel very lucky I got to do it.

Basically, I wouldn't give up hope! Just also suspect they don't want the staff to be under pressure, or international people to have a lesser/bad experience, so won't open if they're not confident in that. (I also wonder if they were going to open in 2020 and had to step back, if global increases in shipping costs have made it seem less viable since.)

Since I'm de-lurking after many years, doll tax (which I hope works): new-to-me Volks Claude. Still learning the SD17 body, but I think he's a bit underappreciated as a headmold, he's a handsome guy!

    3. I put my Ria head back on a body today! It's technically a boy body but she will be my one SD girl so I can have someone to wear pretty dresses since all the boys would be very not happy about that :XD:

    4. I don’t think it’s for GL FCS as they were mostly accepting positions for part time clerks. Full time is currently only open to in-house operations, manufacturing and production.

For their part time clerks they don’t accept students which means foreign students cannot apply for the job. I can understand that they might not want foreign students who are still in language school, but there are foreign university students who pass JLPT n2/n1, so they have proficiency in Japanese, their home language(mostly CN/KR) and sometimes English so I think it’s just Volks is currently not looking to open GL Sato FCS..

However, they are accepting a few full time positions for developing their site so we might see an online FCS for GL instead!

    5. By the way, I've been wondering this for a while, does anyone know if a SDGr is about the same weight as a SD13 or SD10? I was wondering if the fact that their bodies are slimmer makes a noticeable difference. The only 1/3 resin bjd I have is a SD13 and she's extremely heavy to me, so I was wondering if all other 1/3 Volks SD models are the same. (Sorry for the random question haha, I've just been curious since now that I'm getting more interested in larger resin dolls)

    6. ohhhh that would be exciting!

My new DSD Tiara arrived. Loved the body but want a younger looking chubbier face.
Anyway, here she is on a SD13 body [IMG]

    7. I just weighed my SD13 girl and my SDGr girl, both clothed (cause I’m lazy) and the SD13 was 3 lbs 6 oz, while the SDGr was 3 lbs 2 oz. Then I realized my SD13 was wearing a relatively heavy wig so I re-weighed them, nude with no wigs and got 2 lbs 14 oz for the SD13, and 2 lbs 13 oz for the SDGr. So still a bit lighter but not by much. (My cat does not understand why I have dolls standing on a digital scale on the floor. It’s for SCIENCE, kitty!)

    8. Speaking of kitties, my new kitty has taken a LIKING to a particular wig on one of my Volks girls. I have currently put said Volks girl away because kitty WILL NOT leave well enough alone, lol!

    9. There is a noticeable difference with some. My SD10 is light as a feather! I almost feel like he is MSD sometimes. My SD13 and SDGr feel more or less the same when holding/carrying them. Volks resin overall is very "hefty" and luxurious.

    10. I love that decription of Volks resin.

Probably best to put her away so kitty cannot handle unsupervised. My current kitty is 16 but when she was younger she grabbed a doll's wig with her teeth and trotted off with it. I also came home once to discover that she'd been teething on my Sleepy School head A's shoes all day while I was at work. He'd been sitting on the back of the sofa. Little kitten teeth marks all around the edge of the pleather shoes. Wrecked a perfectly good pair of BJD shoes. Bad kitty! -But I luv her to pieces.

    11. For the upcoming after party event for yumepi and macha, does volks USA do an after event at the same time as volks jp? I forgot as I haven’t been interested in the dolls released for many years now. Does volks USA do theirs after the one on the jp website end?

    12. OMG thank you so much for doing that! I wasn't expecting anyone to actually bust out a scale and get precise weights so you really went above and beyond! That completely satiated my curiosity and it's great to know for future reference!
Oh I'm surprised there's such a difference with the SD10! That helps me a lot with deciding on whether to enter the lottery or wait for the new standard models, I think I prefer slightly lighter dolls so I'll probably hold off to see what the new standard SDs look like. I love my SD13, but after only having Dollfie Dreams and vinyl dolls, her weight was quite a shock. I feel like just holding and carrying her around is an arm workout and I now have profound respect for all the old school gothic lolitas that carried SDs around cons all day lol. You're so right that the heavy weight does feel very sturdy and luxurious though! :3nodding:

    13. VolksUSA does their after event after Volks International does theirs - the exact timing varies but it's roughly a month later (sometimes less, sometimes more). We do not know yet what is going to be available at the VolksUSA event.

    15. Does anyone have a preference and/or experience with lottery dolls on the Japanese site vs the US site? I'm trying to pick which one I want to possibly use based on timing etc ^^; and obviously there's the exchange rate to consider but if anyone has any thoughts, I'd love to hear!

    16. For this specific lotto, the international results are out before the USA lotto closes, so you don't actually have to choose between them. You can enter international, get your results, then enter USA if you lose international.

International is preferable, imho. The exchange rate makes each doll much cheaper and they ship out way earlier than USA lotto does.

    17. Also, you have to consider the additional sales tax from Los Angeles if you buy from the US site, I think it's 10%? in Torrance~
So try the International first and the US if you have to~

    18. Thank you, I figured it would be better to go for the international lottery! Good luck to everyone entering!

    19. @idrisfynn The CA sales tax only applies to CA residents. Lucky for everyone else, not lucky for anyone in California ;_;

Definitely recommending Int first and then USA as last resort as well. Good luck getting your girls and dresses, everyone!

    20. My first time doing Dolpa after event and I think I managed to secure everything I wanted! I just went for the coat, bag, and shoes, but it looks like the blue set is already sold out. I guess that one was the most "traditional" BTSSB style. I've done lolita bloodbath releases before and this felt easier than those.
