Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXXIV

It's funny that for once I'm kind of praying that I don't win. But, who am I kidding, I probably will, not because I think I'm particularly lucky, but because it looks like this release will be plentiful. I'll just have to go back to consigning myself to shelling out the extra money.

I started to wonder if that was the reason for the lack of interest. WS Volks SD17 bodies aren't easy to come by, and even if you do have one if Volks fiddled with the neck hole to make it better fit the Gr body the head might not work as well on the SD17 body. It's been a while since I tried but I remember my few Gr heads being a tight fit on my SD17 bodies. But, maybe I'll get a chance to try it out in a month or so. I do have an RG Williams and I've been contemplating getting a taller body for the head.

It's nice to know that someone is benefiting from this situation. Congrats!

 

One more WS SD17 body option is Snape, too! We've had a few in recent years hehe.

I wish he had been on SD17 as well. I think his face is so handsome but I'm not crazy about the SDGr body in proportion to his head. But @Constance has the most wonderful photos and it's tempting me

 

Heheh, if folks here need a little more push to get SDGr Williams...

Glad there's a lot of love for SDGr Williams here! I picked one up at Sato last month – he was in the basement on the counter, wigless in a blanket, and his face got to me

 

@Cloudedmind thank you! I might be the only one who benefitted from this... I'm going to hope lots of Americans are interested in Will and you'll have lots of competition in the USA lottery. Or a very limited supply being shipped to VolksUSA

I was considering having a friend halfway across the US proxy enter for him at Int and decided against it because it just felt like it wasn't meant to be. I don't think anyone expected him to sell badly enough to make it to the web store. Even with his non ideal configuration.

My Williams is about an hour's drive south of me at a DHL sorting facility. I hope he makes it here tomorrow! I like everything about him; the clothes, the book, his faceup the...ok, not wild about the hair. Looks like a wig that's too big and caught in a blender.
I have Crystal from last lottery that no one wanted, so they can pair up. Redheads unite!

My Elizabeth arrived today!! I am soooo in love with her, she's so gorgeous, I can't stop gawking at her! She's so perfect for me, I'm so grateful for being a winner. I hope everyone else's Elizabeths and Williams arrive soon!

My new guy arrived rather late last night. I guess he's a party boy just like his big brother. I really love him & will post pics soon.

A note about the new wig 'hooks' on the headcap: it works quite well. Does just what the video shows & is unobtrusive. A pain if you want to paint your doll's head though or use a smooth front hairstyle. I will experiment.

 

My Elizabeth arrived yesterday (yay!) and she's beautiful. I just removed the hotglue from her eyes and did a quick try-on with some eyes I have. If anyone is interested I posted the full writeup and photos on my blog: Volks SD13 Elizabeth - eye comparison and try-on

But here's the summarised version:

• Her default eyes are 18mm but mine were much larger and have very high domes, which causes gapping at the sides
• I found a more "normal" pair of 18mm eyes looked better
• My favourite for iris size was 16mm, but the pairs I have are on the small size, so had a tiny bit of gapping at the side
• My preference would be a small-iris 18mm (hard to get hold of in glass, though)

 

@Rhian : Wow! Your Elizabeth's faceup is so gorgeous. And the eye changes really enhance her appearance!

Congrats to all who are getting the new dolls. Initially I told myself not to get worked up over Williams. When I saw he was WS, I assumed it would be a blood bath to get him, and after I saw WS SwD Williams second hand prices after his release, I put the thought out of my brain to try for him. Never would I have dreamed he'd be restocked. @Constance , your darling boy helped push me over the edge and I ordered one of the restocks on the International site. Can't wait to welcome him home!

@Rhian Oh, thank you for your comprehensive write up! I definitely felt that the default eyes were way too big for Elizabeth; mine had lots of gapping too. I’ll definitely be having a dig around in the eye box to look for some large 16s/small 18s for her…

So lovely to see all these Elizabeth's as well. I am not an avid female doll collector, but she really is breathtaking and looks so good with all her Williams brothers @rainwaltz WOW! You have had every Williams there ever was! I still really love the SwD version, hope Volks will consider releasing him again!

@Rhian : WOW! The wig and eye change flatters her even more. Still can't get over how pretty these faceups are!

 

Oh wow, I just got my email from Volks and I actually won Elizabeth! I didn't think I was going to win this special beauty and was bracing myself for either turn out but lady luck was so kind this time, I'm very grateful Looks like my Williams gets a sister after all these years after all and I can't wait to spoil her.

I just got my invoice for Elizabeth (won her through the USA lottery, first lottery win!) and WOW this picture really sold me. Lorina is my first love so I tend to be hyper critical of other sculpts but Elizabeth really spoke to me, she reminded me of a sculpt from another defunct company I never bought back in the day. This picture really just sold me on my excitement.

I assume she was much less competitive than other lotteries? or maybe luck finally favored me.

 

So, I've paid for my Williams from VolksUSA. Money aside I am happy to be bringing him home.

@rainwaltz Your Elizabeth is so cute. Also, your Williams crew looks great! It was actually your pictures and byouyuuken's that got me enamored with the sculpt many years ago. And, now I have more then I'd ever thought I'd have.

@Rhian @Roweena23 @Letheral Congrats on your Elizabeth wins! Considering how often I joked about her being a ghost it's to bad I couldn't try for her as well and actually turn her into onet. But, perhaps in the future.

@Dybbuk I can't wait to see what you do with your Williams! Do you have anything in mind already?
