Honoka does look like a budget yumepi. That's very nice of them.

Ena looks like a younger sister to Lucia or Sapphire All three are so cute, I hope we get a PS White limited run of them like the SDMs got.

Looks like Ranma and Shampoo from Ranma 1/2 are going to be the featured SD at Dolpa in April.

I wonder if they'll do both genders for Ranma.

 

Sooooo excited for this Ranma collab but I’m sad that Akane won’t be in the upcoming release But regardless this is so exciting!

 

Honoka is cute, but Ena is my favorite. At first glance, I didn't pay her much attention, and was focused on Honoka. After thinking about it I think Ena is a bit more in line with my preferences. Her mouth almost reminds me of (off topic, sorry) byul dolls. I might just have to pick her up when she's released.

 

Akane with the short hair would have been super cute. Shampoo is... a choice. I bet they'll add some red eyeliner for flare which could be cool, but the purple wig and styling could be hit or miss if they go with the original anime coloring, similar to Creamy Mamy (who looks better without the purple wig...).

SDGR Ryoga would've been an instant buy for me.

 

OMG Yes I’m with you there on Ryoga!!! At the very least Volks should sell a tiny P-chan

 

Ranma 1/2 in general is a choice, haha. Since they're martial arts characters, their original designs seem, I dunno, muscular to me? Ranma wears that tank top that shows off his biceps and manga Shampoo has a shorter torso and thicker hips than the standard SDGR.

Up until now, it feels like their SD anime collabs have been focused on willowy bishojo/shonen or lankier characters.

The high-kick kung fu poses they do (and Shampoo's sword pose) also seem a bit comical and challenging for a BJD to hold.

 

Im excited to see these dolls! Im not familiar with ranma 1/2 but I always love when volks turns retro anime characters into SD’s rather than DD’s…. Still wish volks made all the sailor moon releases into sdgr girls rather than DD’s

 

Man, Sailor Moon was such a missed opportunity with all the retro stuff they've been doing with SD in the past decade or so--I'm still disappointed about that one. The glossy lips, thick eyelashes, and pointed-toe illustrations just scream SDGR.

I recently got a basic Volks Japan membership and saw a recent news post that said there was a "sneak-peak" announcement on the blog for members when I went to get my ticket for Dolpa.

There's no pictures yet, though, just the new Ranma 1/2 anime logo.
