Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XXXIV

Macha owners, may I ask how big her head is/what wig size works on her? I'm trying to see if she can share wigs with my Kazuya Kujo who has a massive head or she can size down and take some wigs from my other girls ^^;

 

Just measured and they're 24cm or 9.5in.

Oh interesting! They don't look too different in photos! I guess fit also depends on the wig stretch too? Macha might be able to get away with a stretchy 8-9!

 

Has something changed with the shape of SD heads? What changed and when? My last doll was Carol and I recently got this Volks F97 (DearSD Lana). But I know YoSD heads are wider and kind of more flat nowadays.

I'm not sure what the difference is myself since my Kujo is my only volks girl currently (until Macha comes home in a couple days!) But I'm excited to see the differences between older and new in person!

@Sweetiemi I have a lot of Volks dolls from 2002 to 2024 and there's no real unified head shape.
I feel Volks is trying to make some headcaps universal with the new wig-stopper headcaps (people have noticed letters inside them).
As for older headcaps, I have very shallow headcaps (old F-07), oblong eggheads (Maki Tsuyoshi), alien lightbulb craniums and everything in between!
I'd be happy to post a wigless picture of some heads if anyone was interested

 

@Mei Flowers @eleniel The funny part is if you look on the Volks Macha page it says the wig size is an "Original style, DD size." I always thought DD size was more 8-9.

 

I thought the same! I was about to start hoarding 8-9 wigs for her, so I'm glad I asked before ordering anymore!

 

I have a question for all the Volks fans. I am looking for a body that looks similar to sdgr with beautiful heel legs and has a good resin match with volks PS White. Any ideas? Doers anyone know of any doll company that fits those criteria? I already know that Maskcat is an amazing match but I am looking for alternatives.

 

@castironteapot ok but moving towards standard headcaps will impact the look of the whole head. I don’t know it’s just a feeling I have, maybe it’s kind of a new aesthetic? F97 does not have a wig stopper but I notice her cap does not fit perfectly like older dolls I’ve had, there’s a tiny glitch.

 

My Maacha wears a 8-9 wigs; I feel like 9-10 would be a bit big? I haven't run into any issues getting 8-9 onto her noggin and I've tried quite a few on.

 

@Sweetiemi Having a headcap not fit isn't great...maybe some other F-97 owners might be able to give their experiences as well.
I've also noticed some heads have the position of the hook and magnet reversed – my SDM-F-06 from the last limited FCS order (originally a head made before magnets were standard) has the magnet at the top of the head and the hook at the bottom, which makes the headcap a bit more difficult to fit on around the elastic inside the head. I've heard from other doll owners that this is also the case for some others, but I don't know which heads specifically.

Can confirm, Macha has a 9.5 inch head! She came home today!

 

On the big noggin train, I can confirm the volks four sisters heads fit 9-10 wigs better than the 8-9 wigs. Definitely a variety of head shapes out there especially in the SD category!

 

Volks has posted preview photos of Shampoo and Ranma. I think Ranma looks a lot like Sapphire, and Shampoo is a lot like F-97. I hope there will be lots of them available!

 

Oh dear gawd...Shampoo and Ranma look amazing! I too hope that lots of them are available for sale over here.
