1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    2. I didn't receive any emails from Volks so i didn't win a one-off - still it was fun to even have the chance to try!
For those who also entered, how did you do?

    3. No winning email for me either but I’m gonna hold out hope until my lottery results changes from application :eusa_pray. Agreed that it was fun to have a chance! Looking forward to more web events :D

    4. :ablink:Mine still says "Application" - does that mean Volks is still working through announcing winners ? Like does the status change when all winners are announced, and the 'losers' get a different status?

    5. I’m not 100% sure but I think it may stay as “application” for a few days until payment is collected from the winners and then that lottery is officially closed and the status will change to indicate “lost”. Never know if someone won’t pay by the deadline and they redraw!

    6. This is correct! I am sure it happens, even if rarely.

No email for me either but I wasn't expecting one :XD: I would like to think they have some sort of system in place to filter out recent ish winners so more people have a chance. But who knows!

I am hoping to see a winner or two here though, that would be so fun!

@idrisfynn your Diamond is still living rent free in my head, I'm obsessed!

    7. No email here either, but that just means more holiday funds for my Japan trip in October. Still working out which doll I want to take with me for autumn foliage photos...

    8. These photos of Diamond are lovely - I think that's the sculpt I'd choose if I was ever going to do a doll of Virginia Woolf...

    9. My application still says 'application' status and not 'lost' :? which seems strange.

    10. @PinkBear It's for the very rare case when a lottery winner doesn't pay for their item and Volks does a re-draw (and then blacklist the non-paying winner). Volks doesn't change the status to "defeat" until all items have been paid for.
That's how I ended up with a Shizu from 2023's Best Selection lottery – someone didn't pay for her and I was fortunate!

I finally got my girl Tahlia to Tenshi no Sato in Kyoto last weekend. I bought her a dried flower hairpin and a flower crown, but since it was the first day of the anniversary event, all the human-sized cake sets were sold out. I still got a doll one and they gave her a matcha ice cream and a window seat next to the koi pond. It was too 和 for my heart. :...( I should've put her in a yukata.

This is her second teatime out--I also took her to doll-friendly Chamber of Raven for afternoon tea with another doll friend earlier this month too and we received lots of compliments from the staff. Still have yet to go to Marionette.

    12. @Grimoire Tahlia looks adorable in the lemon outfit, and the macha ice cream is so cute :love

Thanks for sharing info on doll-friendly cafes – I'm going to Japan in October so knowing more spots where I can have a cake and take cute doll photos is much appreciated!

    13. I've been tacking them onto my Google maps. The ones I know for sure are:

-Tenshi no Sato in Kyoto (obviously, but you need to get your cafe ticket as soon as you walk in or cake will be sold out)
      -Orion in Tsubaicho, Nara
-Marionette Amis in Iwamotocho, Tokyo (needs reservation)
-Dead Gunman's Society in Higashinakano, Tokyo
-Chamber of Raven in Ogikubo (not doll-exclusive--there are also non-doll customers, needs reservation)
      -N's Doll in Mihashi, Saitama
-Doll Studio Sen in Abiko, Chiba (studio, not cafe--they have an interesting plan where you can stay overnight though)

A few of these cafes have their own little studios too, but it might cost extra to use them.

I've never done it, but like anywhere else in Japan, it's usually ok to take your doll out for photoshoots in public spaces as long as you don't make a huge deal out of it or bother anyone else (like taking up space at a busy area of a popular tourist site, etc.) and you pack up after the photoshoot is over. You might get some looks from older people or tourists, which is why most doll owners here opt to find a space with relatively no people or just don't take photos in public or feel more comfortable if other doll friends are around. But nerdy photography hobbies like cosplay are generally becoming more accepted here and taking small stuffed animals with you and photographing them on travels is considered a normal hobby.

    15. Hey guys! I'm still learning how to use DOA so I hope this is the right place for me to ask this question.

Did Volks ever release SD Mytyl in white resin?

What SD girl sculpts have big puppy/doe eyes? I am trying to find one in white resin, I LOVE Mytyl but she is NS.

    16. @ShwiftyCupid24, Volks released Mytyl in white as one of the auction dolls for Dolpa 40. She was themed as Joséphine, wife of Napoleon (RG Williams). She sold at auction for 3,330,000円, which was about $30,000 at the time. You can see the Twitter announcement about it here: https://x.com/volks_doll/status/1074202525358682112

Other than that, Mytyl hasn’t been released in white.

    17. She's so beautiful in white, such a shame it was a one time release. Thankyou for the info

    18. Can I see everyone's Volks Mytyls please? She's my favorite.

    19. Girl Sd13 body vs sd10 body, which do you prefer and why? I LOVE the look of the sd10 but I worry about limited torso mobility.

    20. SD10 also has a jointed torso version if you want both boxes checked. There are a couple for sale on Mandarake if you want to see how it looks.

I have a solid torso doll that is not a super dollfie (so I might miss some volks-specific quirks here) - it's surprisingly okay to have no waist joint but of course you can't do any slouching poses or turn from the waist. It's also much harder to get a solid-torso doll to sit up straight but it's greatly helped by sueding or kips in the hip sockets. If you're looking for more complex posing, you'll likely feel limited by a solid torso, but it does look nice and doesn't snag clothes between the joint.
