Volks Super Dollfie ~ SD, SD13, SDGr, SD16, SD17 & FCS - Part V

Mmm... hey? *shy*
I'm just jumping in after staying away from Volks for a long while because the whole process of getting a Volks seemed very... intimidating >.< However I found a lovely seller who's willing to let me do a layaway for a grail doll head, Michele.
I really like this head as a boy and saw many people putting it on boy bodies, but I wanted to ask, is it ok on Volks' SD13? Are there any other boy bodies that might fit nicely?

You did such a wonderful job at the repainting! I wouldn't have been able to tell at all. XD I definitely agree that after some time, those dots on the corners of the lips are not very nice to look at in general. T-T So I always don't like it when the corners are so much darker than the actual lip corner! The way you did it looks so much more natural.

Your boy has really this enticing look and aura about him that definitely drives girls crazy. =) No wonder girls always seem to go after the bad boys when they are looking like this!

Spectacular crew! O_O Such an amazing shot. Wow! I really love how well-dressed they are and all of them really have their own personalities! I already had a hard time taking pics of 2 dolls so I can't imagine having to do this many yikes! Also, that motorbike is just damn awesome! @_@

Your girls are always just so lively and fun! XD I really love the contrast of the weekend and weekday shots! It really speaks of the truth as during high school days, the only thing students can think of is the weekend and their little adventures out with their friends! XD They look like they're having a lot of fun.

 

Hmmm, I owned a Michele boy and it's really a smaller head, so I don't think it would look proportional on an SD13 body. The neck is also probably going to be a bit too thick. It does look great, however, on the SD boy body. Mine was on the jointed SD boy body he came with from Volks, and it's honestly probably my fave body of all time.

 

Hopefully it's okay to ask a question in here! What size/circumfrence is the neck on an SD13 male body? I have a head that I know fits on it but have no idea what size it is

 

Michele might look good on a Graffiti body - his features look big on a kid's body - and small heads work great on a Graffiti because its shoulders are so narrow. I don't know how big a Michele's neck-hole is though. Does he usually need modding before wearing an SD13 body? I could swear I've seen SD13 Micheles before. (Or maybe I'm thinking of SD13 girl Micheles.)

 

There are a lot of SD13 girl Micheles. I've never seen an SD13 boy Michele. His face is actually pretty small, total area wise, those eyes I have in him in that picture actually fit better and look smaller in the MSD head I currently am using them for.

If they're looking for something taller than an SD boy, maybe on an old Delf body since they're a bit taller but more muscular though still delicate proportioned, or the Ariadoll boy bodies.

 

Seconding that the Michele head looks best on an SD10 body. The SD13 body is much thicker and makes Michele look a little out of proportion, though an SDGraffiti boy body could work nicely. Many smaller SD13 girl heads have been put on the SDGr boy body.

Speaking of which, my Cristal Graffiti boy needs some clothing advice.

I really like the new summer clothing from Sadol, but I have no idea what size jeans to order for him. He's wearing SD13 girl pants right now. I don't want to order these jeans that are supposed to be skin tight and buy a size that turns out to be baggy. I know that SD13 boy size won't work. Has anyone tried the Delf or Senior Delf size or one of the other too-many-choices! sizes?

 

SDGraffitis wear Lati Red sized pants at Sadol!

(They're shaped like my skinny Iplehouse dudes & their pants are shaped accordingly. Longer in the leg, narrower in the hip. Reika & Remy both wear Sadol's Lati size.)

 

Thank you so much for that advice!! I have been looking for a longer pant for my SDGrs and I didn't even think of going that route *starts scheming for more pants lol* Plus I had no idea Sadol even had Lati Red sizes (the local lati red boy could use some pants too ^_^)

@St.James: Rafael looks amazing in his purple duds!! *swoon-mode* I find that the original delf clothes tend to be a little too big in the tushie for the SDGrs, but I think it might depend on the style. Some of my old anotherspace clothes fit great, and some are too big I think that JennyNemesis' idea for Lati Red pants is an awesome one, so I'm definitely going to give that a try~ ^_^

 

O hai yes, if there's one thing we knows about in this house, it's tight pants for boys. : Sadol is great because they'll make their everything in a rainbow of sizes, and Lati Reds seem to be the skinny-63cm standard.

And they fit perfectly. You should see how Graffiti legs look encased in Sadol's painted-on leather jeans... : Oh wait, it's the middle of the night; I'll have to paint Yuki into those tomorrow. Because you really should see. Thing a' beauty. St.James, git that boy some skinny jeans!

In the meantime, these are certainly not painted-on Sadol leathers, but I just got back from vacation and am in a beachy spirit-- here's Kimo hanging out with me in the tidepools of Santa Cruz.



(Everybody there dresses exactly like this. Everyone. It's freezing, but you're never far from the beach, thus the hoodie-and-sandals combo.)

What size wig suitable for SD16? 8-9 inch wigs or 9-10 inch wigs?

Hehe, thanks-- Santa Cruz is a far cry from Hawaii, though. ^^ Everyone's asking Kimo "Hey beach boy, where's your Speedo?" but to wear a Speedo in 60-degree water, you either have to be insane or half-otter. Brr. There will be photoshows of Kimo & his friend Stavros picking around those tidepools later.

BTW, it is remarkable how well the SD17 stands up on sand & crawls around on rocks! I never took an SD17 into the wilderness before I got Kimo... this body can do so much more than stand around hipshot looking sexy. I must applaud Volks's engineering once again.

 

You're so lucky. We don't have beaches where I live. Don't know if that's a good thing or not? >.<

 

Oh, I don't think I could live anywhere too landlocked. I gotta be at least a bus-ride away from a beach! Even though we have a beach in San Francisco too, I never get to go very often.... I just like knowing the ocean is right there.

One of the outtakes, here, actually makes a pretty good body-comparison shot between the 65cm SD17 and the 68cm Limhwa Mano. ^^ They share most clothes successfully, if you're wondering. Clothes not pictured. Smile, boys!

 

Those boys look amazing Jenny!!! I agree...gotta live near the beach. I used to live right on Miami Beach and would walk to the beach everyday....but was afraid to take my dolls. Now, I live about 20min away and havent been to the beach in 4 years, LOL.
