Volks Super Dollfie ~ SD, SD13, SDGr, SD16, SD17 & FCS - Part V

I could finally take 2 family photos today! >.> It took me 4 hours to prepare... and I couldn't put them all into 1 photo because I still need a couple of bodies. ^^;;;;;;;; But here they are... minus the Dollfie Dream ladies! XD

 

Hooray Fran! 4 hours, yikes - but it was worth the effort! It's always fun to look at a big lineup (and it gives you the sense of accomplishment that makes you say 'hey wow, my dolls are so cool' ^^).

 

Yay Fran!!! You did it!!! I suck....I still have not found the time to do it. I totally believe it took you 4 hours too.....they are beautiful!!!! Yay!!!!

 

Thaddeus' wigs arrived yesterday so I redressed him today. It was interesting handling the SD16 body (since last time my sister was the one that dressed him up).

Note to self - he fits in Luts pants, but tops will be a bit snug because his shoulders are broad and his arms are to buff. Which means the SDGou I have coming may have some wardrobe malfunctions! LOL

 

oh niiice family! fransyung, you did it, bravo! And who was saying here that she can't? But 4 hours... wow! I somehow never seen before your pictures of that person between Kujo and Megu... The body is boy's definitely, the face looks very sweet like girl's.... is it a girl or a boy? Sorry -_-

But then again, after he comes back home I might be able to take another shot, hahaha... Now I just need to complete the bodies! Oh... Here's another variation of the family pic!

Ksusha : that's my Charlotte! I'm still looking for an SDGr girl body for her so for the time being she is using an SDGr boy body. XD

 

Hi guys. I have a dumb question. I have recently fallen for Volks Nono. I am confused by how different they look in photos. Are they all the same mold, or have they changed from the older ones?

For example, I like the classic, very almond shaped eyes Nono with the little smile, like this:



But the newer ones look so different, I wondered if its just an illusion?

the one in the purple hair looks a lot different from the older photo above, I thought.

 

It's the same mold. It all depends on what eyes she has, face-up, wig - all that can radically change how a doll looks. For instance, look through this thread and you'll see plenty of us have posted our Kuns - and no two look anything alike; some, you'd be hard-pressed to tell they're Kuns, they look so completely different to the official Volks pics! It also doesn't help that the gorgeous Volks sculpts and the talented work of their artists is badly let down by their uninspired photography.

But I'm confused now. I just read somewhere else, that there are two different molds of Nono. The person said that a later, SD13 Nono was released, and that she actually has Ryu's mold.

The doll in the first photo is a Ryo/SD13 Nono which is a different sculpt than the SD Nono sculpt. Ryo is an SD standard boy sculpt, and SD13 Nono was a standard SD13 girl sculpt until it was discontinued. You can still get it through FCS though as F-11. The doll in the second photo is an SD Nono. The big difference is in the nose, the width of the mouth, and the shape of the eyes/eyelids.

The SDGr Nono's that were released last winter are also apparently a completely new headsculpt as well, though they look pretty close to the SD Nono.

 

Volks make little changes to the sculpts whenever they release a newer version. ^^ The first Nono released is not the same as the newest one, for instance. They look really similar, but they're not exactly the same. ^^ It might be because Volks renew the mold used to cast them or just simply make new molds in order to make them better (according to their opinion, of course!).

 

Yes, there have been minor tweaks some of the older sculpts over the years from the move from the original old skin sculpts to the pureskin versions like the 4 sisters and Nono, but the big issue with the pictures posted is that they are of two completely different sculpts. It's why they look so different.

 

Thanks so much Kim! That really helps. I think who I like may be Ryo then. I like the slightly wider nose, and the more almond shaped eyes. That top photo I got from the Volks database as Nono. Interesting. =)

 

The second photo you posted is SD13 Nono. >.> The eyes are different.

 

Kim is right, the first photo is SD13 Nono nad the second one is SD Nono. They're both Nono's, but definitely different sculpts. The SDgr Nono also looks different from SD Nono as well.
Since you'd like Ryo's sculpt, SD13 Nono/Ryo head is also available via FCS. They're now both discontinued.

Archanegli: thank for sharing your yukinojo!! Hee hee, your yukinojo and Daria looks good together. When placed together, they seem to be related to each other. The lips I think.

 

Thank you. I decided to do SD17 only but then couldn't fit it all in...I hope to do a full shot once Shirou arrives with SD13 and SDGR as well. Hopefeully I will have a Volks girl to add . Took a little over 3 hours to do.....

 

Carmen171, oh, very smart boys! Hijikata, Genji, Williams, Reisner and Alain! Thank you for finding time to make it and share it! Hmmm, but you said minus another Williams, Shiro and Yukinojo or even two....and batch of SD13 and SDGr Boys... wait-wait-wait, do you have all of Volks boys? And almost 3 hours for you, 4 hours for fransyung... *sits shocked* It took maybe ~1-1.5 hours for everything for me to make a group picture

 

LOL! Goodness no! I do not have all the Volks boys, but yes, I have more that didn't fit into this photoshoot. Currently I wait on Yuki2 and Shirou. When they arrive I will try again. I think it took fran and I a longer time because we keep our dolls in their boxes naked. So we have to take down boxes, find wigs and clothes, and that is all so time consuming....at least for me anyway! Glad you liked my picture!!!!
