    1. Hello CosplayShots, I'm currently in Tokyo and basically Mado is opposite the old Harajuku Sumika. Mado is the newly renovated Harajuku Sumika and there are the usual Sumika one-offs. I'm not sure about these Mado exclusives, never heard of them. Mado is like a nicer looking Sumika with more space for photo taking from what I have seen from my friends pictures~

    5. Does Volks normally include a restringing guide for their dolls (with pictures)? With my boy's certificate came a little booklet but if there isn't a restringing guide, I'm not sure I want to open it since it's so old, but if there is, I'd really like to see how the whole hand/feet string system works before I try to take him all apart.

      Does this look like it might be promising?

      Here's my beautiful School B, Deryn, wearing the Volks Modern High School set. I fell in love with this set from the moment I saw it and it took me ages to track it down at a decent price. The skirt still has some creases from the packaging but I'm hoping they'll drop out as she wears it. It reminds me a little of my own high school uniform, only the colours were reversed, navy cardigan/sweater and grey skirt and socks!

    7. So nevermind about the whole string feet/hand thing. An owner before me modified the little gold loop hooks into S hook, so it's really easy to put the hands on, and the feet have S hooks, too. I'm a little confused but I'm just going with the flow at this point. haha.

      Krissi, do you have any pictures of how the hoops have been opened into hooks? I have an oldskin body that needs restringing with loops of cotton and the cotton drives me mad! I hope I can do the same with my body to make it easier to restring.

    11. Jescissa: I do! It looks like a small section of the hook has been clipped away. I restrung my boy with Volks string, and the fit is perfect. There isn't any way the hook is letting go of it! Well, unless the gold hooks come loose. I didn't realize you could switch the gold hooks out for new ones and I'm glad I restrung him, because mine were really loose and I had to twist them tight again.

    14. Hello everyone! I was wondering if any SD16 girl owners can help me with a problem i have. Today, i wanted to switch the heeled feet for the normal flat feet, and i noticed the long S hook wasn't hooking on to the metal bar inside the knee properly. I thought it was weird since I switched them out often, and then I noticed the metal bar was actually starting to slip OUT of the hole it was drilled in. So now the S hook can't rest on it because of gaps. I've tried to push it back in, but it only worked tempo. >< Has anyone had this problem and willing to give me some advice ^^" I greatly appreciate it!

      I adore the gr body way too much. I never got into the standard SD13 bodies; other people could pose them but they always looked blocky and stiff if I tried. I don't have that issue with the gr body though :)

    17. The 2 bodies just have different posture. For different needs. I love the SD13's upright posture for suits and uniforms-- Graffiti has that gorgeous slouch, but can't wear uniforms worth a damn. Spoils the whole effect. Minoru Kamimura would totally have gotten kicked out of that naval academy for failing to stand up straight at attention. xD

    19. I don't mean just the posture. Somehow pretty much everyone I know online and in real life can make the SD13 boys look natural even with that posture. Whenever I try, they come out stiff and doll like. I had the same issue with the SD10 girl body and my friend's suwarrico girl. Even my yo-megu just seemed so..blah when I did anything with her but came to life when my friends posed her.
      I'm happy I don't have that same issue with my new boy.

    20. Oh! Well, in that case all I could advise is Practice-practice-practice. ^^ When a doll's really feeling his/her pose, you'll know it.

      Even those Yo-SDs can convey nearly infinite amounts of motion & energy despite the stubby limbs & enormous cartoon head. I think the SD10 is hardest to pose in a lifelike way, imho... they can FAKE some good poses, though, if assisted by clothing & camera-angles. My boy Rainey has the old solid torso & can't even twist. But he can still skateboard... and he can still go climbing on the cliffs at Point Reyes!
