1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Volks Tea Party in NY

Apr 18, 2006

    1. I got a membership card. It came with my first mail order from Volks USA. Others got theirs when they bought something in person at the Volks LA store.

    2. Hello Everyone,
I just found out about Toppi's Blog update and immediately called Pat of FDQ. She got in contact with Volks and here is the official update:

The invitations for the NYC Dolls Tea Party will be determined by membership in Volks USA and our FDQ subscriber list. While the initial plan was to consider those on the East coast in particular, as many could not attend the tea party in LA last December, we understand that many collectors are willing to travel to New York for the event. So, after cross referencing the Volks membership list and the FDQ subscriber data base, we will compile a list from these names. If there are more names than available slots, we will pull the names by lottery.

    3. I am very upset that they are not giving everyone a chance to go.
I don't thing is fair. I cancel my Barbie Convention membership so I could attend.
80% of the dolls in my BJd collection are from Volks....and they are going to do this????
      Is not right.

    4. -Am just said in the post above that they would be compiling a list of Volks owners and FDQ subscribers, so that leads me to believe that all will be considered and that if there are more names than slots that a lottery will be held. (Please correct me if I'm wrong Am!)

So it sounds like everyone has an equal shot at going if they want to!

    5. That's seems right to me. Volks originally said that only 100 SD fans would be invited to the LA Tea Party - but they ended up going over that. I can tell you that more will be invited to the NY Tea Party. In my personal opinion - I think everyone has a fair chance as long as you are eligible.

I know the eligibility part seems sketchy. We are looking into it. Please be patient, this event is 3 months away. We expect to have all your questions answered/covered by the end of May.

Also, if you PMed me a question, I will be happy to look into it for you - but if you've already sent the same question to the FDQ website, then please don't PM me too.

      Thank you,
      Am

    6. I was just wondering if there is a difference between the SD Owners club and the Volks USA membership? And How do I go about being a member of Volks USA?

    7. That's not the Membership card. That's a card that keeps track of your purchases so they'll know what type of things you like.

    8. Yes, please someone explain how to become a volksusa member?
I registered with volks japan owners list, never got an email or anything, and I cant find my profile when I search the owners list:(
      I really wanna goooooooo!
      *jen
      **EDIT**
Ohh yay I finally found my profile one volks!! So does it mean I am a member of Volks USA?? hummmmmmmm

    9. Am -- is there any way we can get confirmation that we are on the volks website? I mean - not to be a pain for anyone, but I did sign up via their website, sent my email like they said to do with all the info, etc., like 2 weeks ago and haven't heard back. I don't EXPECT to hear back so fast, but I think/hope they can understand that those of us who are newly registering - before May 8th deadline - are nervous about it. Did they get my email? Did I fill it out correctly? -- that whole thing....

Again I don't want to be a pain but I hope they can understand how BADLY we want to go, for once there's an event on the east coast, and...well... i'm just rather understandably nervous, and I'd feel a lot better if at least I knew I was in the volks database. Thank you for all you're doing to help us get info on this!

    10. Actually, that card for keeping track of purchases is the membership card. ^^; I asked my friend who lived in Japan to get membership for me in September 2005 so that I could collect points and have Volks News sent to her and her card looks exactly the same.

      The new Volks membership card was just released here in Japan. I decided to get one in my own name using my friend's address since I have not received one from VolksUSA. I guess when they get the new ones, I might get a USA one too, hopefully. ^^;

For those curious, the picture is Yo Tenshi Yuki and a Gundam type (It's not an actual Gundam, but a different giant fighting robot) on the other.

    11. I asked and from the slightly vague response I got I think they mean that you have to have sent in a registration by May 8th not actually be up on the website but again it wasn't REALLY clear.

    12. To everyone with questions, both personal and concerning eligibilty ... I have forwarded all your concerns to Pat of FDQ.
Please keep in mind that although FDQ is co-hosting the Tea Party, it is a Volks event - so they are running the show. Sorry to repeat myself but all details should be finalized by the end of May. If it seems like we're ignoring you - we're not, just waiting on the final word.
One more thing, if you PMed me or listed a question in this thread, please, please, please do not go to the FDQ website and ask the same question there.
      Thanks,
      -Am
      FDQ

    13. One more question - with the LA opening Tea, people were allowed to bring a guest. Will that be the case here? I just subscribed to FDQ on the hope of being able to get an invitation and it would be nice to know if my friend should subscribe too (like if it would double our chances of being drawn in the lottery).

    14. At the LA opening people were not allowed to bring a guest.

    15. Hmm...I may just be missing it, but does FDQ have an e-mail address? I just tried to get a subscription and there's continually a problem with the order. I want to make sure I don't get charged five times or something...but can't find an e-mail address.

      Cheers,
      Junkets

    16. Thanks for clarifying! I heard that they announced at the last minute that invitees could bring a guest - I guess it was just a rumor! :(

    17. No that wasn't a rumor, last minute Volks told us that yes, we could bring a guest. However, this guest could not participate in things like the raffle or enter their name for one-offs. I was going to bring a friend of mine (he ended up not being able to come) and I know another member there had brought her mother.

I'm not sure if Volks will do this again, but if so they would ask for that person's full name and telephone number. Hope this helps! :daisy

    18. Hi Nena,

How did Volks tell you this? If you personally email and asked at last minute or did they tell everyone they invited?

I know a minor got to bring a parent..but i thought that was special permission.

    19. Hey Gina,

Right after the announcement of the LA teaparty I had originally asked Volks several questions about the event. One of my questions was whether or not I could bring a guest with me, and their initial reply was --

Volks then sent me a followup email much later when I had forgotten all about it, about about a week before the event --

      So I had assumed they had sent that email out to all those who had originally asked if they could bring a guest. The reason I had asked if someone could be allowed to come with me was because I had never been to LA before. Though I didn't tell Volks I was a little nervous to be by myself, maybe they saw me as a special case as well. ^^;

While I can understand if people want to bring a guest to the NY event, please take into consideration that Volks may give out fewer invites if they feel there will be a lot of extra guests to accomodate. I can definitely understand their want to invite as many SD owners as possible!

    20. I would think yours was a special case, as there was no general email sent out about bringing guests or I would have brought the person who rode up with me (and spent that time finding stuff to do while I was at the reception). Once I got there, it was apparent that they had made a few exceptions to that rule and the 100 person limit, but hey...it's their shindig.

I would not make the assumption that one could bring a guest, especially if it is limited like the LA event was. I'd definitely email them to ask if there will be room.
