1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Was your first doll a boy or girl?

Jun 17, 2014

    1. A girl. A Resinsoul Mei. My second doll is a girl too

    2. First one I ever fell for was a female doll, but I ordered a boy first as he fits the character I am working on. I find it so hard to find dolls that I truly wish to own, and choosing which gender.

    3. Both my first BJD (off-topic) and my first on-topic BJD were girls. My first off-topic BJD was a Hujoo (Hujoo sleeping face) in white skin. Her name is Pixel, and she is a robot.

My first on-topic, resin BJD is a Planetdoll MSD Riz in tan skin.

However, I like boy and girl dolls equally well, and I have a balance of boy and girl BJDs.

I will say that I prefer boy head sculpts to girl's and 3/5 of my girl dolls have sculpts designed for boys (Simply Divine Harlequin, LLT Roderich, and Dollshe Arsene).

I think it's because most of the girl sculpts are less realistic (proportionally larger eye sizes than boy sculpts from the same company) and are very traditionally beautiful with small noses, large pouty lips, and doe eyes. I prefer more distinctive features and ones which make them look more mature.

    4. A boy from Luts. I swore I would never buy girls because usually their dress and shoes are much more expensive then boys and I didn't want to spend too much money.... until I found myself kept buying girl clothes (of course boy clothes too) for my boys, then I realized I can have girls now ^_^

    5. My first one was a Bobobie Mei, so girl.

    6. My first doll was a boy, and I've only gotten boys since, mostly because the vast majority of my characters are boys, and I usually end up liking male sculpts more. (One of these days though, my vision for an army of tiny girls will be realized...)

    7. I only have boys so far and a tiny withdoll which is gender-neutral! I feel more close to male characters also they're easier to sew for.

    8. my first doll was a kids sky lapis lazuli which is a boy. funny enough i always figured i'd get a girl first if i ever got a bjd but nope i somehow ended up with a boy

    9. My first doll is a girl, just like my other ones. I don't know if I'll ever get a boy, but I think I'll end up with a quite feminine one.

    10. My first doll is a girl, as are all of my off-topic dolls as well. I find sewing for and styling girls easier than for boys.

    11. Male, a DollZone Carter. I prefer male dolls over females but I have so many female/female identified characters anyway.
I try keep the male to female ratio equal... and fail miserably. :doh

    12. My first was a boy...and I like male sculpts better...but my second, third and fourth are all girls. Poor Raziel isn't going to be able to cope with all this femaleness. I want a final boy, then no more dolls for me unless a grail doll pops up....but it's highly unlikely.

    13. First doll was a boy. I prefer boys too. When I think about it, I feel like it's because there weren't a lot of boy dolls when I was growing up. I always thought ken dolls were so ugly. I LOVED my first boy Bratz doll. Now the only girl dolls I have around are my Sailor moon action figures. Cause c'mon, it's Sailor Moon. :chibi

    14. First was a girl, an MSD. for quite a while (several years) I thought she'd be my last. I eventually followed her up years later with a boy, another boy, yet another boy, and a few girls and more boys, all SDs. So...the first might've been a MSD girl, but what got me hooked into the hobby were the SD boys (and a couple girls) :XD:.

    15. Mine was a girl (DOD E-an). I always had four characters I wanted to shell into dolls, but at the time (2007-2008) there weren't any male dolls that fit. I had a much easier time figuring out which girl I wanted, and I brought her home! Still working on 3/4, but that's more an issue of funds than lack of sculpts at this point.

    16. My first doll was a boy, a 65cm Doll Family H Lyndon. He is still my favorite doll.

    17. Technically, genderless! It was a Pukifee Zoe, which I no longer have as I was very young at the time and didn't know what direction I was going in the hobby. I presented her as a girl, but now that I think about it, her name (Khyler) is traditionally a boy name :XD:

    18. My first doll is a girl, and my second doll is as well :)

    19. my first doll is a girl. I have seen her and did know, this is the right Lady for me

    20. My first doll was a floating head. A boy. Then my first full doll with a body: a boy still. (That first floating head is awaiting his body's arrival still.)
