1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Was your first doll a boy or girl?

Jun 17, 2014

    1. It seems like a lot of first dolls were girls haha, but my first doll is a boy! He fit the character I had in mind and I think generally I prefer male sculpts (especially their faces!) However when I first got into the hobby, I loved the modded ftm BJDs that I saw on here and IG so I hope I can have one myself one day!

    2. My first doll was a boy, mstly because he was the least expensive doll out there.

    3. Girl and I only have girls. I haven't seen a boy sculpt that calls to me yet...but I was the same way when I was a child and only wanted girl dolls and not boy dolls!

    4. It is a boy. I only have boys doll.

    5. My first doll was a girl, too. An Angel of Dream Rao. I bought her second hand from e-bay and she had a terrible face up but she was in my price range. So I wiped her faceup and my daughter, she was 16 at this time, gave her a new faceup. I'll probably keep her forever. :)

    6. This is a fun thread. It is neat to see everyone's preferences. My first doll ever was a boy msd, and I do tend to lean more towards boy sculpts. However, I've recently thought of taking that old msd and modding him into a girl, so maybe my tastes are changing?

    7. I'm also in the girls boat. Don't know why.
Maybe it's just the beauty of them that attracts me.
Maybe it's because I've always wanted a group of girlfriends, but never got the opportunity.
Or maybe it's because I love fashion and girls are more fun to dress for me. Haha.
Either way, I do love my girls.
BUT! I do have a boy on my list. And I will get him one day. XD
And I have had two boys previously as well.

    8. My first doll was a boy, and really, all of my dolls are boys. I guess I am in the minority here lol. I just like dressing up boys more since I cannot wear all the nice suits or fantasy costumes for guys lol

    9. My first was a girl, a Unoa Lusis. She was my dream girl and she still is my favorite to play with. I was not even supposed to get any boys, but it seems we have 3. I usually like my friends' boys better than their girls but boys just don't suit me as well in my own collection.

    10. I dont have a doll yet but my first doll will be female. For the time being I only have female characters in mind :') Simply because they are original characters from role play games and I only use female characters for them. If I ever complete my collection of them I will probably move onto creating characters for sculpts I like. But I first want to shell the ideas I have in my head :3

    11. My first doll is Ayanami Rei and she is a girl...

    12. My first doll is a boy for reasons, and because they're a minority :sweat
Even the sculpt I chose doesn't have a lot of fans and I just felt like he needs more love:hug:

    13. My first doll was a girl back in 2008 ;__; A DZ Feilian. Then I got a boy, but I've always preferred "girls" or dolls in which I project gender queer exterior appearances. I just think the possibilities are much more interesting!

    14. The dolls that I have plans for maybe shelling into OCs are more or less 50/50 when it comes to boy or girl, but when it comes to characters and designs I am creating for the doll itself it is mostly, if not all, girls.

I think it mostly is just cause I prefer designing girl characters xP

    15. Hmm let's see... the very first head I purchased (it's still not home) is a boy head that will turn into a girl but my first complete doll is a boy (but the company face-upped pictures looked girly to me)

    16. My first doll is a girl and my next one on order is also a girl, but then I have a boy on order too and plans for another boy. For some reason, I have this idea that I have to have the same number of each, I guess I don't want anyone to feel left out! I think I tended toward girls first because a large part of the reason I got into the doll hobby is so I could design knitted clothing for them and I have more ideas for girl's clothing than boy's!

    17. Mine was a girl (very unoriginal but I love her)

    18. My first doll is a girl, I'm still waiting for her to arrive! I like male dolls as well, but not quite as much as female ones!

    19. My first was a girl. My second too. If I add more people to my resin family, it would probably be another female doll, maybe a fairy.
I just don't like boys aesthetic that much

    20. Only girls mostly. Just 1 boy. Girls outfits are cute and many colors. With boy dolls I get easily bored by clothes xD
