Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Washing your hands before handling your dolls....

Sep 30, 2010

    1. I also make sure my hands are clean and wash them if I've been eating, rubbing my dog or doing chores but otherwise I don't really wash. I'm certainly not someone who washes my hands every time that I touch my dolls but I am long of a neat freak so my hands are rarely dirty and the places that I'm willing to set or leave my dolls is small because I don't want to set them on anything dirty or dusty.

    2. I almost always wash my hands before handling my dolls, unless they already feel clean. I don't want to accidentally touch a face-up with greasy/oily hands. Also, two of my dolls' bodies are blushed to match the head because the face-ups are special/LE so I couldn't take a magic eraser to clean the bodies without removing the blushing.

    3. always. even figures i do the same! I don't want strange smell on them!

    4. I do most of the time. Although, I am more careful if they have a new faceup or something. ;)

    5. I'll sometimes wash my hands before handling my dolls. Usually I don't feel as though I need to. I'm very hand-washing conscious because I'm in school to be a Pharmacist (you become very conscious of how clean your hands are when you're in a healthcare profession). So I feel like my hands are usually clean enough because of daily hand washing. But if I feel like I might have anything on my hands I go ahead and wash my hands, just in case.

Some of my dolls still have marks on them though because of other people handling them. I feel weird about asking other people to wash their hands before handling my dolls.

    6. I have long nails and always have nail polish on them but I always end up leaving polish marks on everything so I use a pair of gloves to handle them. WebRep

    7. It's a good idea to wash your hands because sometimes you've got something on them and you don't even realize it. It could be anything like ink or the oils from you hair, either way, it's gross. You don't want things like that getting on your doll. It's also good to wash your hands if you plan to handle someone else's doll.

    8. Yikes, I never even thought about nail polish. I wash my hands frequently anyway, but never really took my nails into consideration. I'm certainly going to have to keep an eye on that.

    9. I don't wash my hands persay....but I make sure food, grime, sweat, etc is not present when I touch him. lol

    10. I usually do not wash my hands before I touch them. At least when I'm at home. But of course, when I ate something or touched more dirty things, I wash them. I don't want to stain my beauftiful boys.

    11. i'm a little OCD, on average i wash my hands with soap 5-10 times a day. most of my hobbies involve crafty stupid things and my hands and nails get dirty very easily which i hate. so i have to have clean hands as much as possible.

i also keep wet wipes/gentle make up remover/cotton pads and etc in my room and ALL my purses, and use them on both my hands and my dolls when needed.

    12. I wash my hands if I have been doing something particularly dirty - like cleaning, working, just ate... Mostly because washing my hands is a lot less hassle than washing my dolls. I wash all my boys every three months all so. And it takes a whole day to do all of them (I restring at the same time). :P So I'm not worried that they will be damaged, I just don't want to wash them more often than necessary. Haha.

    13. :|This is not really an issue for me.

I was trained as a child to wash my hands whenever I touched anything that could be germ-y or any time they were the least bit dirty, and it's a habit I have never managed to break myself of, so my hands are pretty much clean 95% of the time anyway.

    14. I wash my hands regularly through the day but I don't give them an extra wash before I touch my dolls.

    15. I wash my hand's about half the time I touch my doll just because that means I have to wash her less.

    16. i wash my hands before touching my doll. i've heard so much about resin getting stained that i am scared to death i would ruin her

    17. Yes, I wash my hands every time I even think about handling one of my dolls. I don't want oil and dirt build up on them and very rarely touch their faces, I want them to last forever.

    18. I wash my hands fairly regularly but no, I don't always wash my hands before handling my dolls. In fact, I rarely ever do unless my hands are sticky or visibly dirty (and neither are the norm!). I just make a point not to touch my dolls' face-ups as I know the oils on fingers and hands can damage them.

    19. i would hate to get finger oils on my girls so I was before I handle them! I dislike shiny resin!

    20. It depends on what I've been doing. If I've been handling my rats or messing with my cat or handing something messy, I clean them. I usually just use a baby wipe since I don't have a sink downstairs yet. For handling my DD definitely make sure my hands are clean since they're prone to staining. I don't worry as much about my resin girl.
