It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Washing your hands before handling your dolls....

Sep 30, 2010

    1. It's hard to do, most just when exterior clean the sole

    2. I wash my hands everytime I handle my dolls. I naturally am a germaphobic, and because I'm paranoid that one day I might damage them if I don't wash my hands...

      Haha, call me nuts. ;)

    3. It depends on what I was doing at the time or had just/already done. If I was at work or hadn't washed my hands after eating, I wash up before handling my dolls. So most of the time, I don't feel like I have to wash my hands (and I try not to touch the face anyways). If I'm doing any sort of maintenance or even just changing eyes and wig, I wear gloves as a precaution even though I don't usually get clammy.

    4. I wash my hands before and after playing with my dolls. My wife did a lot of research into the hobby before we got into it, and she said to never touch a faceup and to wash your hands before touching the dolls, so that's what I do. XD My paler dolls seem to smudge easily, so it seems like a good practice. And I hear tell they're made of toxic substances so I want to make sure I wash that off before I pet my cat or eat.

    5. Always, always.

I also use gloves before touching them.

I think this is the reason why my oldest dolls look like new =) it also helps that I wash them, and spray them MSC every year.

    6. I was wondering about this as well! I'm glad there was a post. I don't have any expensive dolls yet, but I would definitely want to keep them pristine once I get one!

    7. I will wash my hands before handling my doll especially if I've just been eating etc. I don't want to ruin her.

    8. I wash my hands before handling my doll. I figure it is an easy, quick extra step to help ensure that my doll doesn't get dirty. :)

    9. I used to be rather cautious and always wash my hands before handling my dolls, but nowadays I ONLY do that when I'm faceupping (which isn't often). Usually I'll wash my hands only if they are really greasy, dirty (meaning that I would have washed them even if I wasn't going to touch my dolls). Now, other people's dolls, on the other hand...I'll wipe my hands on my jeans or something if I can't wash my hands. Even if I feel they are clean. >.>

    10. I used to wash them more often, but nowadays I wash them when they feel dirty, when face-upping etc and when I'm doing a photo shoot or handling them a lot. I'm a bit worried about going outside though :,D I'd like to wash every surface I put my doll outdoors xD

    11. I'm pretty big on washing my hands. Since I'm a painter (acrylic and watercolor) I tend to wash my hands before since I'm paranoid about hand oil or dirt getting on the paper or canvas. Probably strange but it's just little things like that.

I do wash my hands before touching any part of the resin but if I'm just fixing clothes or his wig I probably won't do that. (Unless my hands feel dirty then I will.)

    12. I don't have much body blushing on mine, so I don't usually wash my hands or freak out about it, but if I have to touch the face much then I do, so the cheeks don't loose the blushing or get all patchy.

    13. When I first got my boy I wouldn't touch him unless I'd just washed my hands and made sure they were completely dry. But now, so long as there's nothing like marker, grease, or something gross, I'll touch my dolls without washing my hands. I do always wipe my hands off before doing it, though, mostly because of neurosis than anything else. I work with jewelry and just arts in general, so sometimes I will have accidentally gotten something very small but sharp on my hands or fingers, and I definitely don't want to chip the face-up or resin over something that could be so easily avoided.

    14. yep, if i know i have been eating something like potato chips or anything like that i always wash my hands, or if i have just been using anything with oil on it, or any dirt.

    15. I don't wash my hands specifically for handling my dolls, but I generally do make sure my hands are clean if I've used them to eat something like a sandwich for example, but if I use cutlery then there's no real reason to wash them I think.

I tend to wipe my hands with a paper towel, however, just to get rid of sweat and dust that might be on there.

If I've been drawing and there's dirt on my hands from that i do wash them, but I would do so even if I didn't have dolls.

So no... i don't wash my hands for my dolls. I can always clean them if I make them dirty.

    16. Yes I wash my hands before touching my dolls because I heard that oil can damage the resin. It has become an habit now.

    17. I only wash my hands if they're sticky. But I do make my friend wash her hands before touching my most precious dollies! That's because I know she eats everything with her hands, so there's always chips, butter, cheese or something else on them XD I love her anyway though!

    18. Yes, I do! I don't want my girls to be dirty!

    19. I'm a reactionary person when it comes to cleaning. I'd rather scrub my dolls if they get visibly dirty than wash prior to holding them in case they get dirty. @_@

Most of my dolls' scuffs are from bumping into things or just being pale so they always look dirty. x_x Never getting another paper-white doll again...

    20. No. The skin on my hands couldn't take all that washing.
      I periodically clean dolls instead.
