It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Washing your hands before handling your dolls....

Sep 30, 2010

    1. Nooope. I wash my hands after i go to the bathroom and before I cook, that's preeetty much it.

    2. I definitely wash my hands before handling my dolls. It becomes my habit already. :)

    3. if I've been eating, working on mechanical stuff or working on any art works before going to touch my doll I'd wash my hands
otherwise I'd just check to make sure that I haven't gotten anything on them

    4. I actually don't unless my hand are greasy and obviously dirty then I'll wash my hands. The reason why I don't wash my hands every time I want to touch her is because I give her a bath quarterly (once every 3 months)

    5. I probably should but i'm not too concerned. I think it's a little over the top when people wash their hands and only wear gloves when handling their dolls but, that being said, theirs will probably be a lot cleaner and last a lot longer than mine will....

    6. Before I got my first bjd, I read on a Japanese website that when handling them you should always wear gloves! And it was accompanied by a picture of a person wearing white gloves holding a doll!

It totally stuck in my head, even after reading elsewhere that people handle their dolls normally. So I always wash my hands before handling my dolls.

    7. I usually do wash my hands before touching my dolls--especially if I plan on changing clothes or wigs.

    8. If I am doing face-ups I wear latex gloves since the oils from my hands could cause issues between layers of sealant, but after they've been coated in MSC and have clothes on, I dont think I need to scrub my hands EVERY TIME I want to dink around with my dolls. Its not like I excrete cheeto dust and red-dye #4:lol:

    9. If I saw black lines on my doll I would have died D: But no, unless I'm fiddling with his face-up or I've just been handling my snake, I don't bother to wash my hands before I man-handle Cain.

    10. Funny question ))) I don't do it, but my hands are rather clean usually ))
Though.. It always seems to me that other people's hands are usually dirty )))

    11. Unless my hands are really dirty, I don't wash them. I'd sometimes wear gloves to handle them though.

I get nervous when other people touch my dolls sometimes, but it depends on who's touching them.

    12. It is common sense really isn't it, someone said you should wear gloves to handle the resin, but I wouldnt touch anything with dirty hands I do wash them many times during a day always have specially before and after eating.

    13. I always make sure my hands are clean enough before handling my dolls but never touch their faces before washing my hands.

    14. I don't always wash my hands before touching my dolls but I always check my hands are clean. It also depends on what I'm going to do. If I'm just moving them around I'm less concerned than if I'm changing their cloths. Another thing is that with certain dolls I'm just more careful about handling them in general. I pick up my two 60cm boys who are casually dressed much more than my 70+cm Ringdolls in their fullset costumes. I would never go as far as wearing gloves or boxing them away to protect them though as I got them to enjoy and I love handling them.

    15. If my hands are sweaty or greasy or dirty I'll wash them. I make sure they're clean and dry when I handle my dolls. Cesavier always manages to end up needing a bath constantly though... I don't know how, Seraphine is always pristine... >.<

    16. I can't say it's super important. More of a personal preference. I wash my hands if I am going to be handling her bare resin but if its just to move her wig or adjust a shirt or something then I don't. I figure she's going to get dirty anyway. I do wash her often though, I restring at least one every 3 wings and adjust the elastic, clean everything and sand any dents in her. So since I wash her often I don't think it's an issue to handle without washing your hands.

    17. I always wash my hands before handling my doll. It's a habit. :)

    18. I usually do it, because I draw and paint alot. I don't want those colours to stain the resin so I just wash it off before. But if I haven't been drawing or so I don't if I don't find my hand greesy.

But, I do find other people careless for handling my dolls with their unwashed hands. I know it's silly of me mostly, so I don't say anything.

    19. yes I wash my hands before handling dolls and I feel bad if I forgot! (even though I know my hands are clean because I wash them like 20 times a day xP)
I also want to say that washing hands doesn't mean not playing with your dolls or having them only for exposure, I play with my tinies a lot!!

edit: I don't know other bjd owners because I live in a small town in a small island and bjds or other kind of dolls are not popular here, but if I could go to a meet-up I don't know if I would be at ease letting my dolls in others' hands >.<

    20. I always wash my hands before playing with my dolls. I used to wear white gloves, until I decided I had to actually feel the resin. I'm not really a neat freak, but I don't really have a lot of expensive things and I like to keep things in pristine condition. I love my dolls, and can't imagine them getting stained because of dirty hands!
